Mission Name: The Train Job

Mission Goal: The crew of the Serenity made a big hit on the Alliance’s supply routes, but they’ve run into a snag and need your help to return the goods they stole to their rightful owners. Protect the crew, return the medical supplies and kill any Alliance that stands in the way.
Description: In order to hurt the Alliance supply lines the crew of the Serenity mistakenly stole medical supplies intended for the people of Frost. They need help to return them and get away safely. There is an Alliance blockade set up to stop them consisting of a squad of C-Class npcs and led by one B-Class Alliance officer. Any Alliance members are to be killed on sight.

Of all the things that Reynolds could have done, he stole the medical supplies meant for Land of Frost, when he was trying to hurt the alliance. Of course, people needed their medical supplies and the civilians in the Land of Frost would be awfully mad if they didn’t get it because some Captain with delusions of ‘fighting the good fight’ stole the stuff. Of course Reynolds was also now trying to return said medicine and had asked Tamwyn and Yenn to do it. That was simple enough. Captain and Zoe, his second in command, were transporting the medical supplies themselves. It was just Tamwyn’s and Yenn’s job to ‘clear the way’ as it were. A blockade of Alliance forces stood between them and their goal and it was their job to eliminate them. They were to kill any Alliance members on sight and ensure Zoe got the drop off made.

Tamwyn led, using his sensory to scout out ahead of them and keeping himself only a bit ahead of Yenn herself. His voice should be able to carry back to her easily enough and he spoke normally, lightning beginning to crackle into life around him as he sensed targets ahead, although he would still hold back the majority of his speed to keep with her. For the moment anyway. “I’m picking up targets, I’m going to go ahead and break their formation. Hit them hard once I do.” He would say, before using his level one Lightning Armor to augment his speed immensely and traveling ahead.

Yenn was disappointed when she heard what their next mission was. It seemed that Captain Reynolds had made a mistake and in attempting to hurt the supply lines of the Alliance had ended up taking medical supplies from a small town in the Land of Frost. From people who desperately needed that medicine to survive. To his credit he admitted to his error immediately and set about trying to correct it. He was proving to be a man of integrity and honour, just like his crew always proclaimed he was. In truth Yenn had been reserving judgement in regards to Mal, she was always more suspicious of men in charge owing to her past. But she was so far very pleased to see that Malcom Reynolds was helping to change her perception.

The job was simple. At least simple if you considered that it would involve killing. All they had to do was get rid of the Alliance blockade to make way for the return of the medical supplies. Since the vast majority of the Serenity were non-combatants, that job fell on Tamwyn and Yenn’s shoulders. Tamwyn led as usual, he was better suited to scouting out potential combat targets, and she would trail just behind him keeping her eyes and ears open for potential threats. The task she had set for herself was made incredibly difficult by trying to listen over the sound of her own heartbeat pounding in her ears. She had promised Tamwyn that the next time there was a need to kill, that she would do it. And now that the time was here, she was terrified.

Yenn would nod solemnly as Tamwyn told her the plan. She could see the electricity beginning to form around him and knew that it was time. She barely got the words “I’m with you.” out before he zipped off out of her range. She was going to have to do something about how much faster than her he was. She knew it held him back and in a way it held her back too. She wanted to be by his side, to face the dangers together and as a team. But when one half of the team had the running speed of a turtle it made it less than epic. Puzzling over the predicament she would begin forming hand seals, allowing Ranton chakra to infuse her and coat her with a pale violet aura, boosting her speed so she could try to keep up. Sprinting after him she would begin focusing her chakra, calling on the strength of the storm within her as she formed five hand seals; Rat, Tiger, Dog, Snake and Dragon. As the last hand seal was formed a ring of bright energy would form around her hands and once she was close enough she would direct the beams of energy at every target in range.

Zipping ahead like a lightning bolt, Tamwyn would very quickly find those Alliance members that were blockading the border. Yenn’s assurances that ‘she was with him’. Brought a smile to his features. The idea of them being so close always did and he was proud of what progress she had made thus far. It would take her a while to build her own strength but once she did she would be a powerhouse in her own right and he couldn’t wait to see the looks on the faces of any who doubted she would get there when it happened. The blockade would be formed up in front of them, a few squads of Alliance members ready to attack. Tamwyn would run into them like a wrecking ball. As he ran past, he would raise out his arms and hit two in the middle with arm bars that caused their comrades to turn and either swing at him, or try to help their comrades.

‘Formation disrupted.’ He thought simply as the high speed attack had performed it’s task and gave Yenn the greatest single opening she could possibly have. Provided she took it, which he had no doubt she would given her usual performance, then the blockade would almost certainly be gone. The only question was if she had killed them or knocked them out. Reynolds didn’t want Alliance survivors. So if Yenn couldn’t manage to ‘pull the trigger’ as it were then Tamwyn would have to double back and play the role of ‘throatcutter’. If that was necessary, he would do so without complaint or issue. Yenn would manage to get her first kill soon, whether or not he made her made no difference. Although he would do so soon if she continued to be unable to do the deed. With the blockade moved, violently maybe, but moved nonetheless. Zoe and Reynolds would successfully get to the town they had stolen the medicine from and returned it with no reward gained. Afterwards, they returned to camp and Tamwyn would move near Yenn the entire time, his hand in hers if he could get it there and squeezing gently in support all the while.

Tamwyn provided the perfect opening for her, the whole blockade was focused on him as he charged straight into the Alliance. Skidding to a stop just in front of the gathered group she let out a low yell as she fired beams of pure ranton at the Alliance. She kept her thoughts focused on Tamwyn, on being able to keep him safe. IT didn’t matter that he certainly didn’t need the help against the underwhelming force, she needed to justify it to herself somehow. She kept firing until no more bandits stood, , dropping to her knees and throwing up violently once she was finished. She hadn’t expected the act to be so. . . final.

She went back with Tamwyn to the Serenity camp after Mal and Zoe returned the medical supplies. She didn’t speak a word, lost in somber thought and wracked with guilt. Yenn stayed close to Tamwyn, holding on to his hand as if for dear life. It had been far too easy to kill someone, many someone’s. It was a frightening thought, that with just a small amount of power she could end a person’s life. Her thoughts were dark as she considered how many people had that same power, and how many of them shouldn’t be allowed to wield it. They had completed the mission, but it would take her longer than a few hours to process what she’d done.
