Movin and Shakin (Mission)

Valen would listen to his partner on this mission as he introduced himself. He spoke in a mildly odd way but Valen certainly didn’t mind. Everyone had their eccentricities and one’s ability to recognize and deal with those was important in their line of work. Mort would approve of his plan and offer to take the first guard shift, prompting Valen to nod before the blonde haired man smiled and nodded toward the building. “Shall we go then? The crowds just starting to pick up.” He would say, his manner laid back and polite, as if he was someone going out to enjoy themselves on the town. That was important for this as if he was to blend in he’d need to be relaxed. It wasn’t like they’d have much trouble on this mission regardless so being high strung was woefully unnecessary.

Provided his partner agreed Valen would head on toward the building before slipping inside and once again seeing the now familiar establishment on the inside. A bar was along the wall upon the left of the door, giving patrons a place to sit and drink and comfortably chat the night away if they wished. A large dance floor was also in evidence with a crowd of people already dancing happily. Women dressed in mildly provocative, but in no way indecent, clothing would be happily dancing with men who were there to unwind and potentially get lucky that evening after the fun in the club was over. Valen blended in well with his white suit and a few people looked him over as he came in and began to head toward the dance floor. The stairs to the upper floor, where more dancing and private tables, as well as the balcony, were located, would be across from the main door on the other end of the bar. The music coming from the speakers was meant to be fun and easy to move to, without needing to focus on the lyrics. The blonde genin could feel his heart rate increase to match the beat as he moved with a confident stride toward the dance floor.

He'd give a thumbs up and excited grin in response to Valen's question, ready to get the mission a'movin. He'd follow along till they got to the door, where he'd split off and stand guard. He'd adjust his clothes and holsters to have his swords show a little more. One of the staff who was watching the door would give him a brief overview of what he was going to do, gave him a small cheat sheep for his job, and would disappear into the building.

He knew the basics of being a bouncer, the whole 'let people in that've been approved and/or payed, deter people who weren't supposed be there, and if someone wasn't being cooperative to use nonlethal force,' but other then that he had little info on things he had to do. Looking over the cheat sheet, he'd read over some of the rules he'd need to follow, and felt that he could enforce what was asked of him. It actually made him a bit happy that he had brought his bokken, as Excalipoor was more of a visual deterrent today unless someone actually tried to kill him.

Settling into his role, he'd look at the line that was formed, and internally sighed. Almost everyone in line was either too fancy for his taste, or to provocatively dressed. Not that he was a prude, he just wasn't something that he liked. There were a few people who's outfits were more his style, but it just wasn't a nice set of armor.

"Okay, next person!"

The taller man would move through the crowd, moving through it with grace of carriage as he moved past people. He made sure not to bump into others as he made his way through the crowd, watching for trouble. It was still quite early for anyone to be drunk enough to cause such trouble so he wasn't particularly worried about anyone quite yet. However he would be damned if he didn't do his job as was expected of him. So he kept a watchful eye out for people who might cause problems, taking note of them and keeping them in mind for later in case they did cause trouble. He'd make his way through the crowd, moving toward the stairs as he kept a wary eye, happy to see that everyone was having a great time thus far. It was good to see, and he was happy for them, even if this wasn't his particular type of dancing.

Finally he'd make his way to the stairs and head up them to the second level, moving through the dancers on this floor as they enjoyed themselves thoroughly, drawing a few looks here and there as he moved. Some were looking at him as if in invitation. Others however looked at him and saw the headband before realizing he was a bouncer. These individuals would look back to what they were doing and trying to look like they weren't causing any problems. Which of course, they weren't. It was just a nervous reaction that was caused by actually seeing one of the two bouncers in the club that night. Valen didn't mind and he even chuckled as he made his way up to the balcony. He'd lean on the railing for a time and take a deep breath, enjoying the cool evening air. The sun was completely under the horizon and the sky was a series of purple and pinks off in the distance as it hadn't gotten far enough over to cause it to be all black yet. It was rather pretty and he'd take a few minutes here. He would head downstairs in a few minutes, making another round through the crowd before relieving Mort at the door for a time so he could take a break from being the doorman.

"You're good. Next."

Mort thought it was going to be a boring job, but the more he stood at the door, making sure people were good to enter the more he started to enjoy it. Each of the people who came through were fairly respectful, with really only 1 bad apple that was just drunk. he didn't even have to do anything to take care of the man, he just stumbled into the line, looked befuddled, and continued walking. Other then that he had taken to mentally keeping track of each Yokai that appeared in line; their obvious eyes & horns making it a fun game to pass the time. He still hadn't heard from Id either, so while he could have someone to talk to, it wasn't that bad overall.

Still, as he checked the sheet for the next person in line, he was relieved to see that no one was entering at the moment. A brief pause, but a welcome one.He'd look out to the crowd and let his mind wander a little bit. He'd wonder whether or now he would've been one of these patrons if he wasn't born with his Id trying to kill him, if he just would've been a simple commoner just partying it up with some cute girl. Would he even of been a guy? His Id pointed to some other answer as he never saw it take any other form, but the body always formed before the mind, so what did that mean?

His eye would catch some people walking up, and he'd put the thoughts on hold as he checked their credentials. "Go on in ladies." The Mighty Bouncer started to hope that Valen would show up soon. He needed to drown out the thoughts, and unfortunately the reverb he'd hear from inside wasn't loud enough to push it all out.

Some time later...

After some time had passed, Valen had relieved him, but nothing really of note happened. His Id had stayed quiet the entire time, and while blending in wasn't his style, he did get to enjoy being a super cool body guard the entire night. Once it was all over, he'd get his pay, wave goodbye to the dapper genin named Valen, and start to head home.

'Ugh, what time is it? And why are you still up? Can't you see the sun's going to be up in an hour?'

And there it was. His companion for life, the girlfriend denyer, his wonderful mental jail mate Id. "It's late o'clock and I'm finishing up a job, not like you'd care." 'And what's that supposed to mean? I take my job pretty seriously you know. Can't slack off when I'm trying to get this body as my own.' "Says the Demon who decided to take a nap and not keep working. But I get it, even Demons like their bedtime naps.

They'd continue to bicker like this as they made a quick pit stop to the 24 hr mission dropoff station, and then make their way home, as even if the night was uneventful, the next hour of it certainly was going to be for Mort.
