    Shopping Day Blackmarket

    Akari Marketplace

Underneath a long green sleeved cloak hid the black metal scalemail and shadow-like trousers of the tengu known as Hua Li who frequented the market place today. Long white hair was playfully being picked up by the occasional passing wind, horns clearly betraying her demonic ancestry as one of the yokai. So as not to have her be a total mess with this wind, her Kumogakure headband was wrapped around her front, keeping her hair in place to the best of its abilities.

Frequenting the market place for her own leisure, Hua Li was picking up the occasional conversation with the local vendors. Talking about safety and protection as part of her duties as shinobi, prying loose information about general cost and taxes as a fellow craftsman and collecting random bits of information of trivial and not so trivial value. All in all making it look like a simple patrol duty while she plucked the info she needed for her own plans.

The district itself seemed to have settled rather well after the local turmoil with Jashinists. A faint reminder of insecurity persisted, but the people had come to the general agreement the biggest worries had past. The streets were safe enough again to walk around and economy was slowly picking up its usual pace. By the looks of it, there would be no trouble to be had today.

The sights! The sounds! No matter how many times he'd visited a marketplace the clearly levelheaded Mort never got tired of their atmosphere. Carrying his trusty sidearm Excalipoor he'd look around at all the possible things he could buy. Food, kunai, swords, armor, swords, some ink, and of course, swords. But the sword-lover would have to put thoughts of possible weapons aside, he had some actual shopping to do. Like it or not he did have to replace his Super Secret Technique ScrollTM, get some actual armor, as well as refill his meditation to ease the influence of his Id.

"Let's see, let's see...armor, scroll, or meds...which to go hunt down first...or maybe i should buy some ink for seal practice? Hōki did say I'd need to learn that if I wanted to carry around as many swords as I wanted. Hm."

Setting his head upon his right fist, he'd stop in the middle of the road as he tried to think about what he wanted to do, oblivious to those around him as he kept muttering. "Ink, armor, scrolls, meds." Over and over as he caught himself inside a mental loop. To anyone walking near him, it would look as if the words were actually taking form as he spoke them, spinning around his head as the small and thankfully harmless genjutsu manifested.

This was a whole new world for him. The young male stepped through the market stalls with wide eyes, staring in wonder at the wares of the vendors. Kairyu Asahi Chinoike IV, had never been to the markets of Kumogakure no Sato alone in his life; often time he was escorted by a bevy of servants each with explicit instructions to guide their charge in what to purchase. But this time, it was different; he was alone. His servants were at home but one, taking care of things involving the rebuilding of his home.

But Kairyu, he wanted to see the devastation firsthand. The recent events in the village saw the male quarantined in his home on the outskirts of the Chinoike District, waiting out the destruction on the advice of his servants. As the last remaining heir to the Malkavia sect of the Chinoike clan, he had a responsibility to the rest to remain alive. But curiousity was always the downfall of his kind and today, along with the need for certain supplies, it was leading him around by the nose. Dressed in his former academy uniform as to not draw too much attention to himself, the male would begin with the weapon smiths and vendors. He hoped to find himself something that would work for the moment, until his secretary could sort out the finances. While he could always request a loan from the clan or sect coffers, he preferred to use those of his own as to avoid a unnecessary debt. Besides, the paperwork required the seal of a familial head, and given the death of his Father, there was no one to present him with the required seal. Until the clan head was able to present him with a seal, the young man was on his own financially.

Oh well. The young man knew he had enough money on himself personally to purchase what he wanted, but he wanted to conduct an experiment of sorts on this day. He was dressed in his former academy uniform; his apparel consists of a blue, unzipped blazer with gold rims on the lapels, collar and pockets. He has a small belt with a golden buckle each wrapped around the sleeves of the blazer and the right arm is embellished with the emblem of his school. He wears two more normal sized belts around his waist, the top one is done up but not buckled while the bottom one hangs loosely. Underneath that, he wears a white, long sleeved polo shirt with the topmost button undone, revealing a black shirt underneath. Kairyu loosely wears a black tie with two black and red stripes on the back of it. His leg wear consists of black pants with two zippers going up to below the knee and black, leather shoes with a gold stripe going across the front. Kairyu hoped that his uniform would make the vendors and smiths think of him as younger than he actually was; in addition, the male carried no official insignia of his clan. But why?

He wanted to see who would provide him with an honest deal that was not influenced by a clan seal. The Chinoike clan were considered royalty in Kumo, almost on par with Inazuma clan. At the prospect of forming a work contract with the clan, people would attempt underhanded tricks to pass off thier wares as high quality. Kairyu wished to see these people for what they were. And so, the male moved through the markets..

Busy as always, getting through the crowd was a matter of navigation and patience. Of the first, the demon smith had plenty. She slipped though the crowd like a snake through grass. Making use of every little opening between the people and making it seem like she hardly touched them. The same could hardly be said of the customers who, at times, felt a need to vent their frustration at the slow pace of it all. Of the second, patience, Hua Li had precious little. The ever industrious tengu who had practically married her forge, prevented the need for such exactly with her lithe approach in the crowd. To her, it was all but a dance and the market was her dancefloor.

Spotting a sleight of hand as she slipped once more through an opening, her hand swiftly grabbed the culprit during the act and pulled its hand high up. He'd yammer, try to escape, but underestimated the strength of this tengu. With her 5'3, she wasn't exactly the tallest. And being a year short to escape the dreaded teenage years, it was all to easy to consider her a pesky brat meddling in the affairs of others. Too bad for the common gentry her looks didn't do her actual strength much credit. She'd tut-tut the man like she was scolding a kid before bringing the man to his knees with a simple but efficient grip the moment he tried to punch her to liberate himself. More yammering. She retrieved the golden watch he had tried to pocket for himself, and gave it back to its original owner.

"I was having such a good time here. Now you spoiled it. If that alone isn't a reason for me to take care of you, I'm fairly certain you are aware of what happens to criminals in Kumogakure, yes? So, why don't you give me a good explanation for your little game before I decide what to do with you?"

"..armor, scrolls, m-hm‽." His mental loop of thought was broken as the annoying face of his Id appeared in front of him for a brief moment, fading away as it silently laughed at his misfortune. "Maybe I should get one of those subconscious suppression seals. Then again they did mention how ineffective of a ninja I'd be if I took it." Before he could decide if it was actually useful to handicap himself, his eye would catch a most peculiar sight.

Some random dude's hand was being held up by a goddess in mortal form. Her etiolated white hair beautifully complimented both her dual red horn as well as her choice of clothing. But while those were bonuses, he could tell that she was a swordswoman. There was always a way those who chose the was of the blade held themselves, the grip, the stance, the-oh.

Blinking a few times he'd realize that while she was actually nice-looking, he was getting lost in his desire to find a proper swordsman to learn under. Then again she really could be and just didn't have a sword on her person, like a seal or just left at home. And those horns...that was the...Yokai clan right? So if not a swordswoman then they'd be a...general fighter? Smith? Punchey...person..? He still didn't know given that the Kurama had only recently gained a proper place in Kumo, just rumors and outdated scrolls. Though if she was a smith, maybe she could make him a sword or 3 or 50.

Reaching out and attempting to grab some poor blond kid who was walking through the market. "Hey, you might know, but is that woman who just sent that man to floowwards a part of that demon clan that lives here, right? I probably should know, but its escaping me right now."

Those eyes looked about in wonder at the market. There was so much to see here; the vendors and smiths were speaking loudly, attempting to entice passerbys into stopping to browse what they had to sell. It was then that something caught his eye. A bit further down the right next to the fruit stand; a weapon smith was showing off his wares, speaking about the history of one of his items. Normally, Kairyu did not care much for a weapon's history, but rather how it performed in a fight. But something about this weapon drew him closer...

"Twenty years ago, a small village on the outskirts of Tsuchi no Kuni was attacked by a band of shinobi. After slaughtering the inhabitants of the village and burning it to the ground, they left. One survivor, an elderly man named Hogo-sha, was all that remained. After collecting every nail from the ashes of his torched home, Hogo-sha smelted the steel down and forged the Ochi hōfuku. He died shortly after its completion, but the weapon lived on! Some say the ghost of Hogo-sha lives within the blade, guiding the hand of the weilder so that he may cut down his foes!"

Interesting. Kairyu would start walking in the direction of the vendor, but his day would take an unexpected turn; someone would reach out and touch him, grabbing him by the wrist.

"Hey, you might know, but is that woman who just sent that man to floowwards a part of that demon clan that lives here, right? I probably should know, but its escaping me right now."

As his blue eyes flickered to an angry shade of crimson, they would turn on the persona whom had grabbed him. Kairyu ignored the words spoken to him; he was too shocked and appalled that someone was this close and making contact with him. Those too sharp canine teeth seemed to catch the light, as he leaned in and spoke, each word a clear threat whispered. "Did you just fucking touch me?"

If this man realized his mistake, there would be no need for violence. Kairyu had no desire to hurt anyone; he was more shocked that someone had touched him in the first purpose. Kairyu was technically considered Kumogakure nobility; and as far as he knew, this man was no more than a passing wanderer. Taking a step back, Kairyu would attempt to pull his wrist out of the other persona's grasp; however, this would cause him to bump into someone else nearby.

A flood of words poured out of the guy's mouth. Telling nothing in particular. Just an attempt to overwhelm the jounin verbally in hopes he'd overload her brain with all the nonsensical information. Too bad for him Hua Li's intellect didn't align with that of the average man or guard. She'd filter out all of the nonsense and wait until he was done talking to come to the realisation his little trick hadn't lowered her guard in the slightest. Now almost panicking at the idea that he truly was about to get dragged off to prison for his little sleight of hand, he finally started to apologise. Genuinely? That remained to be seen, but to assure herself he'd not forget this encounter soon Hua Li approached the man's face with her cunning smile and whispered something in his ear that made him pale.

"It'll be your only warning, bud. If I catch you again, we're going to have some fun. Understood?", he'd nod frantically and almost instantly vanished the moment she let his hand slip out of her grasp. Sighing softly, she overlooked the crowd for a moment to replace herself in the moment of the day and spotted two shinobi among the masses. Whatever they were about to do here, she had no idea. But they seemed to have a quarrel of sorts. None the sort that concerned her. She was merely curious about these two new ones as they weren't exactly familiar - that was to say, she knew their ID from the documents the jounin was given as a general sense of awareness but other than their face, name and rank, there was little else she knew about them. Were they new additions to the forces added while she was out proctoring? Or did these generally stick to other areas and had they all just missed each other over the course of missions and expectations? A solid step later, the Demon Smith stood close enough to figure it all out.

"Well met.", she'd greet them briefly and directly. Her eyes taking in the details of their countenance and clothes. One of them looked like an air-head, dressed casually and commonly. The sort of clothes that were comfortable for a shinobi to wear without making them stand out as someone in particular. The other one, that was a different matter. Even though he wore his Academy outfit, the squeaky clean expression of his clothes looked like they came right out of the shop. It made him younger than he revealed to trained eyes, but equally told the perceptive that he was either conning others or the rich-boy type. In his case, knowing his name, Hua Li expected the latter. "What are you two up to in this area? Having a nice day, I hope?"

Of all the things Mort though he'd see today, seeing a person's eyes turn red was, while not out of the ordinary for him, still unexpected as it wasn't Id pranking him this time. He didn't even notice the light reflected off of the man's teeth, as his own eyes were trained on Those Eyes. Those beautiful, dangerous crimson red eyes. He'd read about people with crimson eyes, and three in particular that he should be careful of as they held power on par to the Kurama clan. The Uchiha and their Sharingan, the Chinoike and their Ketsuryugan, and the Yurei and their Kirigakure. While he had no idea which this boy had (if any of the three at all) he knew he mayyyy have just made a temporary enemy.

He wouldn't even attempt to resist holding the boy's wrist, though in his peripherals he'd notice that he was probably going to get decked in the head given what prank his Id had just pulled on him. Without thinking he'd make a small comment on it as he answeres blonde's question. "I think my fake handprint on your wrist will answer your question. Might want to do a quick chakra system purge while you're at it to get rid of it." Sheepishly he'd smile. As much as he wished he could get rid of the dumb illusion, this was Id's department and he'd rather not have a mental argument right now. He'd just have to deal with not seeing his palm proper for a while. "But if I may ask, who are yo-?oh hello miss!

The horned woman had come over and Mort could smell the remnants of a forge radiate from her. Up close he could tell a lot better just what she did for a living, and while he could only guess at how skilled at the craft she was, it was clearly better then his own skill. A part of him wanted to ask right then and ther if she could take him on as an apprentice, but he'd refrain as the desire to make a complete fool of himself was soutbeaten by respect for anyone who had skill in the arts.

"I'm having a fairly nice day ma'am, thank tou for asking. I was just taking a look around as I had some things I needed to buy when I saw your horns. I asked him if he knew about why you had horns and if it was due to a bloodline since you were busy, but I may have instead caused more harm then good by accident." While he tried to be respectful throughout all of it, his posture would give away that he was still confused as to what just happened.
