Post by Uchiha Akihiro Wed Mar 11, 2020 11:27 pm

Akihiro found himself inside the surgery room, all fitted up and prepared for surgery while the assistants ran around preparing the table. He still held the scroll with the dead body of Shinsui in his hands. He needed to get everything ready before anyone else arrived, so he had gotten there earliers. The assistant surgeons, not having expected such an early arrival, had slacked off and postponed the preparations of the surgery area. This was why they were still running around in a state of confusion and panic while Akihiro was ready for the first phase. "Damned interns..." was all he could think about while he opened up the scroll on top of one of the two surgery tables present in the room and activated the seal within, unsealing the dead body.

Senju cells had special properties. Their bodies were naturally strong and very resistant, and their cells seemed to take over and thrive in the strangest of environments. The problem was whether the environment could take the presence of this type of organism. This was the only thing worrying Akihiro as he transferred the blood from the dead body into a blood bag through a complex system of tubes that the interns had so kindly provided. Usually it wouldn't be possible to make a blood transfusion from a corpse which had been dead for more than a few days. But Akihiro had immediately sealed the body with a special kind of Fuuinjutsu which he personally developed in order to preserve its condition so really, Shinsui's body looked very much like a fresh kill. And it would remain so because just after Aki got enough blood for the transfusion he would perform, he sealed the body in the scroll again and placed it within one of the pockets of his cloak.

He would glance at the clock. 15 minutes for the scheduled surgery time. He activated his sensory and his Sharingan, as both of these tools allowed him to perform better at his role as a surgeon. There were no strong chakra signatures within his radius....but he'd know as soon as they approached.

He would wait for the other surgeons and for Ikomiki to arrive and then he would personally start the procedure. Ikomiki was an official Mockingbird member now and while he trusted Kureji he'd rather perform the main part of the surgery himself- especially because he didn't know the assistant surgeon provided by Kirigakure no Sato. Of course, a blood transfusion wasn't really a surgery...but that wasn't the only thing they would be taking care of today. They would also be fixing Ikomiki's ribs which had been broken and could probably use some mending. And that would be the real surgery. A minor one of course, and while it didn't carry as much danger as the blood transfusion, Akihiro felt more comfortable doing it himself.

As soon as everyone was here, the surgery would begin.

Kureji had been called to the hospital... thankfully, it wasn't for a checkup or any surprise news that his body flopped on him, even though it was unlikely, a hospital calling back for you when you were recently a patient never tended to be a good case, but his worries were put to rest when he heard it was an order from Akihiro, and that he was to perform surgery on Ikomiki... someone he didn't like, but he followed the word of Akihiro to the letter and if he wanted him to perform surgery on her, he'd do his best.

He arrived to the hospital, putting on the proper attire and bringing along his own personal equipment for surgery. He heard about what they were working with, Senju DNA... he wouldn't dare ask where they got it from, but it'll be an interesting experiment nonetheless as he heard about the healing properties of the Senju. He was interested to see how well it'd go in terms of transplanting.

He finally arrived to the room, putting on the mask that covered his mouth, operating gloves so his actual hands didn't get messy and a few other things. He was about as ready as he'd ever be, giving a light nod to Akihiro that he's ready to perform.

She never objected when it involved a life.

That being said, she walked down the hallway, a cup of coffee in hand. The smell of it was enough to calm her nerves. The smell of a half filled cup drowned out by the creamer that filled the rest. She lifted it to her nose, only to take a final intake of the aroma before throwing it into the bin beside her.

"I always hated the taste of coffee" She thought to herself before reaching into her pants pocket to pull out a set of gloves. Black, enough to stay secured, and dark enough to remained unnoticed in the field. She always hated the look of the clear gloves, and the sense the blue ones gave. Her sleeves tied behind the gloves, her own attire black to match. She wasn't planning on wearing someone else's blood, and if she did, it wasn't going to be noticeable.

Her face bare, without a mask to cover her mouth, she would approach ready to work. She didn't question the body, nor where it came from. Work was work. If her cat wanted this, then it was something worth putting an effort behind.

"Tell me what you need me to do." she would say as she entered, only to look at the clock. Fifteen minutes before show time. For now, she would assist the others to ensure nothing went wrong. She wasn't going to let someone die, not today.

Holding onto the edges of consciousness, Ikomiki would stare up into the ceiling. The mask that had been put around her head was feeding some sort of gas into her. Something to put her asleep for the surgery. Anesthesia. Or was it chakra based instead of chemically based? She couldn’t remember. The words were a blur to her now. She wasn’t one who could appreciate the difference, lacking the sort of medical knowledge to understand. The word still floated around in her mind. It was all willing. She had no need to really breathe in the first place, one of those little quirks of her biology, and so every breath she took was another effort to cooperate into the haze of sleep.

It was hard to tell exactly when she had fallen asleep. She had stayed still throughout the process. Draped as she was in a medical gown that replaced her normal dress it was almost difficult to tell that she was the same person as before. Her extra features, tail and ears, gave it away, but the way she so easily accepted the process and reduced herself to the appearance of a cadaver was different. Almost unrecognizably Ikomiki.

She gave in, trusting her fate to the people surrounding her.

Akihiro was surprised at how well the surgery went. He oriented his team throughout the procedure and made sure everyone was ready for some sort of eventuality but absolutely nothing bad happened. The surgery went almost too well and Ikomiki's body seemed to flawlessly accept the blood transfusion as if it were her own blood. Her rib injuries despite old were still quite fixable and there was time to open her up, put everything in place and sew right back. Hell, Akihiro could have had time for a coffee in the middle of surgery.

In short but due time the girl's bones would heal properly. But everything had went so well that he had decided to wake her up a few minutes after the surgery. After all Ikomiki had a beast's constitution and since everything was now technically okay with her, she should be able to speak. Akihiro would slowly adjust the levels of chemistries that were being used to induce sleep upon Ikomiki until none were being pumped into her blood stream. With Ikomiki's constitution, she should awaken very soon.

"Thank you for your help, I think it really couldn't have went any better." Akihiro would show a rare smile towards both Kureji and Rei. He would then speak directly towards Kureji. "I have some business in the Government Complex I still need to attend to. I'll leave the rest in your care, although I do think recovery will be quite easy."

After speaking, Akihiro left to get in his normal clothes and leave the building.

After the operation was done, Kureji was... surprised at how well that went, and he's quite jealous with how resilient Ikomiki is... a resilience that Kureji lacked, since he had to spend two weeks in the hospital where as it's looking like one good nap and she's good to go. A bit irritating, but some people are just born better than others it seems.

He listened to what Aki haid to say, nodding when he said he'll be going towards the government complex. "Understood." Kureji would say, sticking around for Ikomiki to ensure she gets the rest she needed, although with how well the operation went, he's pretty sure he didn't need to do much else on his part. He'd stick around if she needed it but otherwise, he'd be on his way.

Flawless. She wouldn't have had it any other way.

She may have overseen the surgeries that happened, but she was not the one to take point. She was an extra set of hands that was always there, always available. She wasn't paid to do everything single handed. She was there to ensure no lives were lost. She was there to ensure the village had no failures. She was there to ensure success.

"No problem." she would say simply, smiling, reaching into her pocket to grab not a cigar, but a cinnamon stick. A habit that would die with her. The stick placed between her lips as she took a seat to observe. She would lightly gnaw on the stick, watching over, making sure she would be the last to leave, and that their patient would be well.

After all, she was in charge of clean up.

[Not exiting, just being really creepy.]

Waking up was gradual. A gradient that came from unconsciousness to consciousness slowly, with the exact line of delineation between the two difficult to make out. It was a dream like haze, with her body reacting before her mind did. Little twitches in her sleep, of her legs moving, or her arms shifting. Clench. Unclench. Little movements that were hardly noticeable. Shifts in expression. The lights above her beamed into her eyes, into her consciousness. She was running, but she didn’t know what from. The ground spun into putty. It was like she was underwater. No matter how much she moved no distance was made. There were no signs of movement. She would be chased forever, until whatever it was that was chasing her caught up. She didn’t know what it was.

Eyes would flicker open, adjusting to reality slowly as the haze of her fear was still in her mind. She felt the need to run, to jump out of bed, but with how heavy her body felt that would be more than impossible. She felt dehydrated. Her throat was dry, and her mind was heavy. Thoughts didn’t come so well at first, but rather just acknowledgement of sensory information. The light in her eyes. The figures in the room. The colors she saw. The feeling in her mouth. The way her lips and face moved as air came in her mouth. All little things.

Akihiro declared it a success. She recognized his voice. The words he said were something of a blur, but with each passing syllable she found herself waking up more and more. By the end, when he would turn to leave, she would be more than just vaguely aware of what was happening.

She felt no pain. That was a good sign. Slowly she would shift, testing herself. Her head first, side to side on the pillow. Then she would raise, slowly and slightly. Bit by bit, until she was propped up slowly into a sitting position on the bed. The pain she would have felt from her ribs now was gone. Back to normal.

    “Thank you…”

Akihiro was already gone, but the others were still in the room. Kureji and Akeruseirei. Her words would be directed towards them. She owed them now as much as she did Akihirio.

A silent nod as she cleaned up, putting things back where they belonged, and contaminated tools with each other. She would sterilize them later. For the rest of the day, she didn't have any major jobs to partake in, and as such, would be able to take her time in carefully doing as she needed. She would watch over the girl as she made her way out, only to see the other man to leave as well. With the surgery preformed, there was no reason for anyone to loiter in this room any longer.

A soft motion to leave, and when she was done she would head on her way, watching over the smaller moments and the recoveries of other patients.

After all, it was her job to be there.
