Divine Insperation - Ryuko is a naturally gifted armor smith to the point that some say that a god is whispering in her ear while she works. This allows her to craft armor at 1 tier of Coordination higher then normal.
Appearance:
Ryuko is a teenage girl with short wavy black hair accented with light blue bangs. People often speculate that she dyes her hair, but the truth is that it's all natural. Her eyes like jewels are a piercing blue however becuse she was born with the rare condition of Leukocoria her pupils are white instead of the standard black. She likes to wear red face paint around her eyes as part of an attempt to look more fierce but it tends to have a more charming effect instead.
Standing at 5' 3" she is of of medium height, With a thin frame and fair white complexion that never seems to tan no matter how much time she spends in the sun she gives off an air of fragility despite being well toned from years of training. Typically she wears traditional shrine maiden attire which looks similar to the following picture with the only difference being the white parts have been replaced by a dull purple. The cape is easily detachable and adorned with the symbol of the Rose clan on the back.
History:
Ryuko Shizu Von Rose is The 3rd and youngest daugther of the Lord Saiga Taiho Von Rose and Lady Kougyoku Ryle Rose . The Rose clan orginated overseas as a family of knights. They immagated to the Land of lightning centuries ago in hopes of rebuilding their power base after being exiled in the aftermath of a devestating war. They where instrumental in helping to solve the great famine of 773 AS and as such where awarded minor nobility status for having performed outstanding services to the nation.
She has two older brothers and sisters. Consequently as the youngest daugther she is the furthest down on the line of succesion and despite being a member of the aristocracy has very little political influence. Considered to be a spare of a spare by her family, they tend to regard her either as little more then a pretty ornament to be put on display or as chess piece to be used to further their agenda.
Because of this and the fact that her parents are often busy dealing with bureaucratic matters it became very hard for her to compete for their attention and more often then not she was left to the care of servants who thoroughly educated her in courtly manner.
By the time she had reached the age of 10 her father sought to sell her off to another noble in a bid to increase the clan's prominence but was unable to find a suitable candidate due to the Inazuma's recent rise to Daimyohood shifting the political landscape. News of this failed attempt somehow leaked and her father was heavily critized by the public.
To save face he had her sent away to a remote temple to lie low for a few years until he could try again. This wasn't just any old monastery though, but one belonging to the dragon king Hakkin a being widely worshiped thoughout the land of lightning as its sacred protector.
For Ryuko she saw this moves as her first chance to make something for herself that hadn't chosen for her and took the libraty to begain training towards become a priestess. Setting a goal of prehaps building a small church on clan land where she could preform ceramonies to bring in income. This trainging included not just theology but also the art of combat equivalent to the standard shinobi academy curriculum, due to the monks living there also acting as reserve force for the county in times of need.
When the day came for her to take her vows she knelt before the head priest and was shocked to the core when he declared her as one of several potential candidates to become the next Vestal, the head of their faith that serves directly under the Daiymo himself acting as his spirutual advisor.
Ryuko couldn't help but ask herself how could someone as ordinary as her that was average in almost every way possibly ever be a candiate? A Vestal was fundamental to the continuance and security of the country and needed to not just be wise, but a strong warrior as well to protect the Daiymo in times of strife. As thing stood she was only about as strong as the average footsoldier and while she had been told time and time again by her tutors that while she had the potiental to be good ninja she'd never be amazing no matter how rigorously she trained.
She suspected she'd been chosen solely due to her family ties. Prehaps this had been part of her fathers plan all along. But with no way to prove this Ryuko had no choice but to accept her candicy or risk being disowned for bringing shame to the clan. If she manged to succeed she'd finally make her father proud of her and be set for life, and if she failed she could at least say that she tried and fall back on her church plan.
Vestal canadites are judged by the deeds they preform before coming of age and as such Ryuko has been sent to Kumogakure to enlist as a fully commisioned gennin in hopes that preforming a military tour of duty will provide her the opportunities she'll need to make her mark on the world and bring honor to her family.
Personality:
Ryuko is Loud, boisterous and hot blooded with a take charge attitude. She often attempts to display herself as a person who is seemingly not afraid of anything. Though in reality much of this seeming toughness is just a front that she uses to conceal her loneliness and insecurity. She often acts aloof as a way to cope with the crushing expectations placed upon her shoulders.
She dislikes it when people are nice to her or treat her with favouritism solely because of her status Even worse are the people who try to take advantage of her, which has made her somewhat weery of strangers. Because of this she has a hard time making friends, but those that do manage to get thought her shell are treasured dearly and she will often go to extraordinary lengths to help them when they are in need.
