    Name: Kagetsu Hozuki
    Age: 19
    Gender: Female
    Village: Kirigakure no Sato
    Rank: Jounin
    Title:

    Clan: Hozuki
    Bloodline: Hydrification
    Element(s): Suiton, Doton
    Skill(s): Kenjutsu, Ninjutsu, Sensory

    Stats

    • Strength: C
    • Constitution: C
    • Stamina: C
    • Speed: C
    • Coordination: C
    • Intelligence: B
    • Perception: C

    (400 Exp Leftover)

    Unique Abilities:
Whispers: As a member of the Hozuki Intelligence Network, Kagetsu has access to information generally considered inaccessible, boosting the effect of her Intelligence with regards to other characters, villages, and politics by one rank. This includes only general information and recognition, as well as various deeds, of those individuals one rank lower than is indicated by Kagetsu’s Intelligence. An intelligence network involves the sharing of information, however, making information about Kagetsu more easily available, increasing her own rank by one for the purpose of other characters using Intelligence to discern details about her.

Wealth: With a working knowledge of trade, Kagetsu has learned a reliable form of investing via the Hozuki Trade Empire. She is able to select any amount of money in her possession at any given time and roll a die; an outcome of 6-10 means that the investment failed and all of the money is lost, but an outcome of 1-5 means a successful investment and 5% of that money is paid to her once per month, permanently.

Talent Unrivaled: As one of many Hozuki groomed for positions of power, Kagetsu has tremendous ability in both Ninjutsu and Kenjutsu. When using the former, her Coordination and Stamina increase by one tier each. When using the latter, her Coordination and Speed increase by one tier each. In either case, her Intelligence decreases by two tiers.

Focus: Kagetsu’s hands are well trained and capable of operating independently of each other, thus allowing her to not only use one handed-seals, but to use this function to perform the hand seals of two jutsu simultaneously. When using one-handed seals, her Coordination falls one tier, but when using two jutsu at once, it falls two tiers. Additionally, the cost of both techniques are increased by one Rank if they are of different elemental natures (this excludes non-elemental, Inton, and Yoton). This does not allow simultaneous activation of two separate techniques.

Makeshift Marksman: When wielding a ranged or thrown weapon, such as a bow or even using the Hozuki’s Water Gun Technique, Kagetsu’s Perception increases by one tier for the purpose of seeing and tracking, but her Perception in regards to foresight and precognitive saves decreases by one tier.

Art of Summoning: The amount of time Kagetsu’s summons can remain out is increased by one post. However, the amount of summons she can have out at one time is set at 1, also regardless of the summon’s rank. Her summons receive an extra + to one of their stats when summoned by her.

    Appearance:
Kagetsu is average height for a girl and has generally delicate looking skin for a ninja. Her hair is nearly jet black and her eyes a vibrant shade of violet. Her teeth are commonly shaped like the typical person’s, though perhaps more perfect than most, but she is able to alter them into sharpened fangs more typical of a shark or a demon, thanks to her clan’s signature technique.

While not particular muscular, Kagetsu is deceptively strong for her small frame, which she keeps covered in a large variety of clothing. Most days, she prefers a loose-fitting, white long-sleeved shirt over equally loose black pants, while others, she may go for something tighter to better suit her combat-oriented lifestyle.

    History:
There is rarely diversity in the upbringing of most Hozuki. It is a Clan of nobles whose leaders are elected democratically, rather than by lineage, and so most members will take an interest in political ventures later on in their lives and hardly any family within the Clan suffers from poverty. This leads to lifestyles similar to real world nobles, where those less fortunate are seen as lesser. Kagetsu was not of that opinion, though not because of humble beginnings.

While she was not the child of any current or past Clan Leader –though not for her father’s lack of trying- she was also not brought up in meager conditions. Her father was an accomplished trader and had spent the first portion of his life out at sea, earning a decent living so as to contribute plentifully to the Clan for the sake of increasing his standing, but also to reach a point that he could retire and still maintain a steady income while raising his children. Because of this, he was older than most when his first was born, but he had taken for himself a wife of considerably younger years. She was gorgeous, by all accounts, and while he certainly appreciated it, he had chosen her for her genetics. You see, Yatsuko was concerned first and foremost with his legacy, and sought to find a wife whose family held superior physical and mental characteristics that might be passed on to his children.

This dedication didn’t stop there. Yatsuko hired some of the best instructors to teach his eldest two daughters, ensuring their ability to survive in the harsh world that was quickly developing. Kirigakure was forming, and it was to be an environment for the powerful to succeed, so he saw to it that they would both be as prepared as possible to succeed on their own. To the firstborn, he also taught everything he knew about trade, while primarily teaching his second daughter to fight well. Kagetsu was this second daughter, and she had an interest in the trade aspect of her family, so she spent a great deal of time learning from her older sister and studying what she could when not training.

When the Kirigakure Ninja Academy finally opened, Kagetsu entered in as a student, while her older sister was of the age and the talent to immediately test out for graduation. So while Kagetsu spent the four years leading up thirteen in classes, Katsuki worked through a great many missions as one of the first classes of Genin in the village. By the team Kagetsu earned that title, her older sister was already Chuunin, and on such a different caliber that it seemed little Kagetsu would never catch up. So she devoted every bit of free time she could manage in training, thinking all the while of before the academy, when she and Katsuki would train and have fun together. Her overwhelming dedication often caused her to miss meals, and it became something of a stigma for her to randomly collapse in the middle of a session due to lack of nutrition.

Kagetsu continued to work hard and earned recognition in some circles of the village for her fierce determination and ability to get the mission done at all costs. It seemed that she and her sister were on a fast track to reach Jounin together, for while the former was still only a Genin, her skills and abilities were well beyond both her years and her rank. This is what was thought to happen when the two girls were called in for a promotion ceremony, but lingering feelings regarding the First Mizukage’s transgressions put the higher ups in the village in a peculiar spot, and so they would not afford an exception like a rank skip to a member of the recently stained Hozuki Clan. Instead, she was awarded Chuunin, while her sister became a Jounin.

The two girls saw very little of each other after that. Katsuki was assigned to a team of her own while Kagetsu either dawdled in menial village tasks or took on secretive missions in support of the Anbu Black Ops. She acquired a sort of taste for that group during this time, but she was never considered worthy of officially joining their ranks, despite her constant supportive role. This was insufficient to deter her, of course, and so she continued to pursue that dream, following the same kind of dedication and training that put her on par with her sister. Now, she was even better, and she was finally able to prove it.

After having been denied many times her request to become a Jounin sooner than usual, the higher-ups in Kirigakure finally decided to give her a shot. They pit her against her sister, Katsuki, with the promise that if she won, she would be promoted on the spot, but if she lost, her request would be denied and she would have to wait no less than three years before trying again. To everyone’s surprise, especially Katsuki, she won, and was immediately progressed to the rank of Jounin at just seventeen years of age.

Kagetsu didn’t stop there, though. She continued to work diligently to accomplish every mission put before her, earning more recognition that culminated in even more missions, essentially absolving her of taking on a team of her own, which she was pleased with, as it gave her more time to train when not on duty. It was during this time that Kagetsu took a greater interest in her clan’s business ventures. Though she was not in line to inherit her father’s fortunes, she had learned almost as much as Katsuki and began using what money she earned to make investments of her own, experimenting in every way she could think of to best take advantage of the Hozuki Trade Empire.

One secret she learned throughout those experiments is the value of knowledge; many people approached her with inside information of others’ goods and various different factors that allowed her to better take advantage of the competition. Rather than simply be thankful of this blessing and continue to make money, Kagetsu joined what she soon learned was a network of spies as vast as the empire of trading. Information about a great many things, including people she’d never even heard of, became as accessible to her as books at a public library, with the only condition that her involvement remain secret and that she do what she could to contribute.

A year has passed and Kagetsu has become comfortable in her position as both spy and trader, in addition to Jounin of the Hidden Mist Village. Still, she seeks to fulfill her current ambition of joining the Anbu, and hopes to one day gain the strength it takes to be recognized by even the Kage. After that, only time will tell. One thing is certain: Kagetsu isn’t the sort of person to run out of ambitions.

    Personality:
The general characteristics of the Hozuki Clan are those of nobles, wealthy and powerful, that believe themselves better than most others. Kagetsu is somewhat divergent from this outlook, for while she possesses a mind for economics and trade, she believe a person’s worth is something independent of how much money or power one has. Worth is something relative to one’s chosen field; the wealth of a merchant, perhaps, or the strength of a shinobi, but because every person is a unique individual in some way, an overall determination of worth cannot be isolated to just one or two specific fields. Her Clan may disagree with her, but she can be a stubborn woman, and she sticks to what she believes in.

This stubbornness has caused Kagetsu trouble from time to time; when she believes in something, she does so with all of her heart, and she will doggedly support these beliefs beyond the point that she should relent. For this reason, she can be ignorant to the opinions and beliefs of others and will often find herself apologizing for taking things too far. She may be a stubborn one, but she has the self-awareness to know when she is wrong, and is more than willing to admit her own mistakes. That’s how people grow, she knows, and she always does her best to improve.

In the spirit of continuous growth, Kagetsu dedicates much of her time and perseverance in the pursuit of her chosen fields. She is less talented in a wide array of subjects, but she is highly skilled in what few things she does know. This goes beyond just the typical practices of a shinobi, for where she is skilled in Ninjutsu and Kenjutsu, she is even more talented in the trade and intelligence aspects of her Clan. Kagetsu takes an active role in the Hozuki Trade Empire and is a recognized member of the secretive spy networks of the clan, not only for the sake of furthering herself, but also to lend aid to her family.

This desire to help others can sometimes extend beyond just the members of her family, for Kagetsu is one to treasure close friends, though she does not easily make them. Her stubbornness and dedication is off-putting to most, so few people are able to connect with her, but she develops a special kind of bond with those few friends unseen in most people, where simple friendships eventually reach a point beyond even a blood bond.

This bond is in stark contrast to her coldness to those she is unfamiliar with, for while Kagetsu is a generally cheerful person when with her friends, she can seem cold and unwelcoming to strangers. She is not blind to the nature of this world and has an unnaturally easy time ending the lives of others, and this side of her seems more like that of a demon, worthy of Kirigakure’s as of yet little-known moniker: The Bloody Mist.
