The travel took the pair roughly six hours of marching in the sun. The desert was certainly unforgivable even with her super cool casual clothes. There were no trees or buildings to hide behind. The extended exposure to the sun made Inari regret not investing in a parasol before leaving the village, something she would certainly do when she returns. Her shortsightedness was due to her lack of experience. Generally when she left the village on a mission she would travel short distances, places no further than an hour from the gates. Plus it would be early in the morning so the sun wasn't as intense. But six hours was overkill. It would now be four o'clock in the afternoon, the pair suffering the hottest part of the day with nowhere to rest. Inari was at least smart to keep her head down to prevent sunburn. Her clothes blocked out the direct sunlight, but the heat and walking is what did her in. In any case, Inari was too miserable to hold much conversation during their hike staying mostly quiet aside from the occasional, frivolous jab about the environment.
The southwestern portion of the Land of Wind was largely uninhabited. So one could imagine Inari's excitement when catching the pleasing sight of the Miracle Oasis. It was truly a miracle. Seeing the Oasis just over a sand dune caused her tail to wag broadly and vigorously in excitement. "Lookie! We made it!" She offered, the most simplistic piece of dialogue that came to her mind. Inari ran down the hill and made a beeline straight to the respite. There were palm trees which bore ripe dates, fresh water from the oasis, and plenty of shade to relax. The Miracle Oasis was like a rest stop for travelers coming from the far lands beyond Kishin and occasionally wildlife. But today it would serve as a rest spot for a naive Genin who dared the desert unprepared. Plus it was sorta the halfway point for their mission. All they had to do was find their herb and things would be rosy.
Reaching the shaded area and border of the waters she immediately slipped out of her geta stepping onto the soft sand before walking straight into the oasis waters, which at most reached up to her chest. Dunking her head into the clean water she was relieved to feel the rather cold water basically wash the sweat and heat away from her face. She was in bliss for the time being. But they had work to do, and quickly if they wanted to make it back to Sunagakure before it got too late in the evening.
