    Team Meeting Empty Team Meeting

Post by Bryn Fri Aug 23, 2019 4:52 pm

Bryn waited in Kirigakure's training grounds for her new squad of genin to show up. She had on simple clothing today, a black skirt that stopped at her knees along with a short-sleeve button up blouse that showed no cleavage. Her breasts were kept down with a compression strap, making her appear to have less than she actually did up top. Her hair was down as was usual, pristine in its conditioning and care. Not a strand was out of place, even as the cool breeze gently blew it around. There was no footwear on her feet, Bryn opting to go barefoot today.

She was sitting on a thick log that was used to train endurance among those who liked to punch and kick things. The more callous you had and the tougher your bones, the more damage you inflicted when you managed to make contact with your opponent. Bryn had never had many issues against pure taijutsu fighters with her focus on the spear and ninjutsu though, with only her cousins in the Kaguya clan able to get close enough to do any sort of damage to her. Even then, the Kaguya tended to keep their distance from her if possible. After all, even they could get scorched (heh) by the Valkyrie of Kirigakure. Bryn was staring off into space, a light smile on her lips as she hummed a jovial tune reminiscent of a nursery rhyme from her youth.

It was about twenty minutes after dawn, with her genin having ten minutes remaining to show up. Hopefully they'd get there early and make a good impression, though the Fujio jonin didn't really care as much if they were on time as long as they actually showed up today. Punctuality could be taught later. Today was not a meeting to teach a lesson or anything like that, she wanted to get a grasp of their skill level as well as their talents. With that in mind, Bryn had with her a wooden staff that was the same length as her spear as well as her gorgeous weapon. The staff was meant as a training tool, with weights bound at both ends in differing amounts to aid in balancing it and weighting it to be close to her spear.

The area she had chosen was meant more for taijutsu and weaponry fighters over ninjutsu users, with logs like the one she sat on dispersed intermittently throughout the area. There were practice dummies and other training implements to use, with a small clearing intended for sparring behind her about ten meters away. It was twenty meters in diameter and comprised of short grass and was completely flat. She yawned once, glancing at the still rising sun. "I hope they're fun," she said lightly, resting back on her hands as she kicked her feet in boredom. "Or at least not boring."

Team Meeting Empty Re: Team Meeting

Post by Daisuke Kaguya Sat Aug 24, 2019 4:47 am

It was an exciting day in Daisuke's eyes, it looked like he got assigned a squad at last. He had been sent a mail of the details, with brief information of his teammates and his new sensei. He already knew of the Hozuki that's going to be on their team, being assigned on a mission with her once and only heard of their other teammate known as Inarie. A Kaguya with dragon blood... due to the Kaguya clan's whole stance of pure Kaguya blood from not too long ago, he only knew that Inarie wasn't a welcome sight to the district but after the disappearance of Tsubaki, the clan district grown more modernized and he had wondered if they're willing to accept Inarie now.

Then came the last person to mention, Bryn. He hadn't heard much about her personally, only that she has a... complicated relationship with the Kaguya clan. He only hopes that whatever the Kaguya clan did to Bryn or Inarie, they wouldn't see Daisuke in such a similar manner. He's proud of his Kaguya heritage but he likes to believe he isn't obnoxious about it, or for others who have relation to the Kaguya clan.

He'd see in due time. He received the letter to meet at the training grounds, with a mention of a "team meeting" which he guessed was going to be more than just a meeting due to the place it's being hosted at, he wore his more practical outfit which is light brown pants, black boots and a long-sleeved grey shirt. If the fight was going to be extensive though, he wouldn't mind taking off his shirt or going barefoot.

As always, Daisuke has a habit of coming early to any allocated time as he believes you'll never get anywhere right on time, it's either early or late and Daisuke prefers the former. He made it roughly five minutes before the allocated time, already seeing someone in the distance as he approached the training grounds. He guessed that he's the first one as he doesn't see Tsukimi, or any girl with scales which he heard is the defining characteristic of Inarie. He guessed the woman in the distance is Bryn, their new sensei. He walked up but kept a respectable distance, simply waiting around for the other two to show up as well.

Team Meeting Empty Re: Team Meeting

Post by InarieKaguya Sun Aug 25, 2019 10:33 am

This was as much of a surprise to Inarie than expecting anyone outside of her mother to show up for a birthday party. When Inarie got the letter she was confused as she normally doesn't get letters. On the closed letter simply has "Team Meeting" written on it.

"Team meeting? Who on Earth wants to put me in a squad?" Inarie mumbled to herself as she flipped the letter and opened it to read the contents. A lady named Bryn Fujio, also referred to the Kaguya as a cousin to them. She is the designated sensei, and along with her two other Genin. Some guy named Daisuke Kaguya, but Inarie has never heard of him before. Then a Hozuki with a name that played tricks to Inarie's eyes since she first read it as Tsubaki Hozuki. However after blinking her eyes to read it again it was actually Tsukimi Hozuki. There was a sign of relief from Inarie as she did not want to start interacting with the now former clan leader of the Kaguya family.

Still neither of them Inarie has heard of save for the clan names nor has she ever seen them to her knowledge. Inarie wasn't too sure how she should feel about this. Before Inarie practically had to pull teeth just to get someone to spare a few hours teaching her. Now she's practically training on her own and getting some experience from missions with higher ranked shinobi or just more experienced. So Inarie wasn't sure if she should be nervous or excited.

Regardless she had tucked the letter away and attended to dinner, bath, and then slept the night away. In the following morning shortly before Dawn it was today that Inarie was supposed to meet with her new team. The young Dragon yawned and stretched while getting dressed. After eating breakfast and donning her armor and tools. Inarie left the comforts of her home to embrace the outside.

Inarie is garbed in a short sleeved grey shirt with a cheap mesh shirt underneath. Over these shirts is a steel mail shirt that offers protection over her torso and the upper arms. She appears to stand at 5'9" with a slender build. Her wavy long hair of platinum is pulled up into a fluffy tail to keep the hair out of her face. Her piercing bright rose pink eyes focus ahead of her as she walked towards the training grounds. The sun was just barely peeking over the horizon, but it was officially Dawn now. Inarie wears some basic soft leather pants with her belt secured at her waist. Her belt consists of a hip pouch, full of shurikens and some of the shuriken are already tied together by steel wire. On the left side of her belt is a baldric, or a sword belt attached to the main one as it holds Inarie's chokuto in place. Her feet are protected by a pair of sandals, but Inarie hopes that she doesn't have to deal with sand today. And finally wrapped around her forehead is the Kirigakure headband with the steel plate facing forward.

Patches of metallic blue scales can be seen on Inarie's body. From the back of her hands stretching up to just below her forearms. On her face, just below her eyes on the cheeks, is a pair of scales that shapes like bat wings stretching up to her piercing eyes. Some part of her scales can be seen on Inarie's neck, but the rest is hidden underneath the clothes and armor.

Upon arriving at the designated location of the training grounds, Inarie spots two other individuals. One male, and one female. Inarie recognized Bryn as it was hard to forget someone like her, but this other guy not so much. Still minding her manners, when she was within a close distance from them Inarie displays courtesy by bowing more so to Bryn than Daisuke.

"My name is Inarie Kaguya. Thank you for accepting me into your team."

Team Meeting Empty Re: Team Meeting

Post by Tsukimi Hozuki Wed Aug 28, 2019 5:09 am

Once again, duties as a genin demanded that Tsukimi be up before dawn, however, she hadn’t actually gotten any sleep. The moment that that letter had been handed to her, where her golden-hued eyes had read over printed words, both her heart and her thoughts had been gripped in equal parts excitement.

    And panic.

A shinobi’s career only truly started when they were placed into a squad. To be mentored not only by an experienced Jounin but also learning, bleeding, fighting beside two fellow genin. A formation that would ideally last into achieving the rank of chuunin, perhaps further.

She could barely believe it was her name printed against paper. It seemed undeserving when featured alongside Fujio Bryn, the Mist’s “Valkyrie.” Tsukimi knew as much about her promised teacher as any idolizing child did – that she was strong. Intimidating. Peerless in the art of ninjutsu. The tightness of her stomach, from twisting itself into a heavy and uncomfortable knot, eased – a little – at seeing Kaguya Daisuke also printed in the lettering. But the relief was only temporary, fleeting as she read the name “Kaguya Inarie,” and realized that unlike Daisuke she had no knowledge of who they were.

    Kaguya.

There was nothing truly bitter between Kiragakure’s most powerful families, and Daisuke had been kind enough towards her but Tsukimi had heard “rumors” of the Kaguya’s glorification of “purity,” to the point of isolating others and even those within their own ranks. Another knot was added to her twisting insides at the thought of being an unwelcomed outsider. Of even the smallest of her actions causing trouble for her clan, of upsetting her father further still. Of failing before she had even truly tried.

Perhaps if she had had the chance to speak to her father those fears might have subsided, enough to let her sleep. Simply to ask for his thoughts, for him to chide her for “overthinking” things. For her to say that tomorrow her path as a kunoichi would truly begin. Unfortunately, he had not come home that night. And so, weighted and unnerved, she had laid in bed, watching as shadows lightened against her bedroom’s ceiling.

Tsukimi had taken a bit more time to get ready than she usually did when she finally climbed out of bed, determined to hide any signs of her sleeplessness. Image was an importance to the Hozuki – even her father, not subtle in disagreeing with her wanting to join the shinobi, would still expect her to look her best.

So, when upon arriving at the training ground as the paleness of dawn chased back shadows whilst stirring up the coiling mist, her hair fell heavily to the backs of her calves with not a strand windblown or frizzy, a pale bandana hemmed with gold and turquoise thread was all that styled her hair. Her top was form-fitting white cotton, ivory lace trailing up her throat in mist-pattern swirls. Thinly twisted gold, speckled with droplets of aquamarine, was set at her cleavage in the lantern-shape symbol of the Hozuki, strips of turquoise silk threaded at certain points to the golden frame. Shaping two strips into straps to rest against her narrow shoulders, which then secured lace-cuffed gloves, stretching in white cotton from just past her shoulders to her knuckles, twin lantern symbols embroidered in gold and turquoise thread run down her arms’ lengths. The final strips of turquoise silk secure further mist-pattern lace, from her hipbones to her ankles, an incomplete skirt. Tight white cotton shorts worn underneath saved her modesty. Wooden geta sandals were on her feet, adding three inches to her otherwise short stature, whilst a pale thigh-pouch was fastened to her right thigh.

The letter had stated that they should all meet at dawn but, upon seeing that she was the last to arrive, Tsukimi chewed upon her lower lip, her cheeks darkening unhappily – why hadn’t she thought to arrive earlier too?

Team Meeting Empty Re: Team Meeting

Post by Bryn Wed Aug 28, 2019 5:30 pm

Bryn's eye was caught by someone approaching her location. She stopped spacing out and focused on the newcomer, a guy by the looks of it. The tune she was humming continued as he approached, headed directly for her. When he got nearby the jonin would cock her head and wait to see if he said anything. And he said... nothing. Didn't even say hi or anything. Her face scrunched a bit in confusion at that. What was this kid's problem? Did he not like her hair? How could he not like her hair.

The jonin stopped humming to say something to him, noting someone else approaching, after a couple minutes of him just chillin' near her. "You're... a little weird, aren't you?" The tone of her voice was airy. Bryn didn't mean it to be offensive, but she was honestly curious about him now. "You could at least introduce yourself before giving people the silent treatment, you know," she said with a small smile. The second person approached and gave a bow. Now THAT was how one greeted their superior officer. The girl introduced herself as Inarie Kaguya, one of the names on Bryn's new team of genin.

"Well, I guess that makes him Daisuke then. See? It wasn't so hard," she chided, this time more of a tease than anything else. She waved a finger at him sarcastically, giving him a grin and a wink once she was finished speaking. When she turned her attention back to Inarie, Bryn caught sight of a third person approaching. "How much ryo do you two want to bet that that's your third sqaud mate?"

Not caring if they replied, Bryn would wave the girl over eagerly. She looked like the third person in the squad if her description was anything to go off of. Definitely an aristocrat, this one. Once she too had approached to complete the squad, Bryn hop off the log and dust her backside off before gesturing for the three to get within a couple meters of her. She followed this up by placing her hands on her hips and beaming a smile at the three genin. The pearly whites seemed almost to gleam in the pale light of early morning, a sign of good treatment on Bryn's part.

"Looks like everyone's here, I think. How about everybody introduces themselves to each other first." Bryn held up a finger "I'm the leader of Squad 4, Bryn Fujio. Ninjutsu is my specialty, and I can utilize three basic elements." To put this on display, Bryn would cause a small spurt of fire, water, and then wind to pop out of her fingertip as she explained what her skills were. "I can also use an advanced element called Scorch Release."

This time, Bryn would open her hand palm side up and lay it parallel to the ground at about chest height. A small ball of Scorch Release chakra would pop into existence there, its heat able to be felt by their close proximity. It wasn't a terrible increase, almost like one was sitting a foot or so too close to a fire. "Don't get in the way of one of these," she warned before extinguishing the small display by closing her fist.

Still smiling, she would turn to Daisuke. Bryn pointed at him confidently before speaking again. "Alright, you're up first! Who are you and what are you good at?" Hopefully her earlier chiding and teasing would cause him to speak up. It would either do that or cause him to be even more quiet than he was upon first getting here.

Team Meeting Empty Re: Team Meeting

Post by Daisuke Kaguya Thu Aug 29, 2019 3:23 am

Daisuke took note of the comments she made towards him, though he didn't intend for his silent treatment to be treated as disrespect, he'd rather save his words for when everyone is present instead of having to repeat his introduction two times. "I'll save the introduction for when everyone is present." he'd say, and as he said that, the Kaguya he had heard rumors about, the one with scales on their skin had shown up. Inarie might've noticed that Daisuke is staring at her, more so out of curiosity and not so much out of disdain, though she might perceive the latter as such considering their shared clan name and their clans history of purity.

Then came the last squad member, a familiar sight to Daisuke as he took a mission with her the other day. A Hozuki, any reputation she might've had among others is solely because of her father, he sees her as an alright sort and sees some potential in her, though it'll be a while until she reaches that potential.

When the introductions started to come along, he payed close attention to their sensei. An impressive list of elements under her control but the display of her scorch is what made him a bit more attentive than before, with a power like that under someone's control, you'd be more thankful to be on their side instead of going against it. He couldn't think of any ways to counter against something like that.

But when she selected Daisuke to introduce himself next, he rolled his eyes followed by him clearing his throat, giving a few grunts before quietening, followed by his voice. "As everyone here seems to know, my name is Daisuke Kaguya. I specialize in Taijutsu and I can use the ability of my clan, to produce bones from my body. My control of it is still in the works, but I can at least make tools." to demonstrate this, he brought out his wrist and produced out of his front arm what appeared to be a makeshift white kunai handle, he pulled it out of his skin and the design itself looked very similar to a kunai, the shape isn't perfect but it's designed well enough to be lethal.

He stashed away the bone kunai in his pocket for now, placing his hand back down and folded his arms together. Throughout most of his time already spent with this team, the others might see him to have a no-nonsense demeanor, having a sense of being uptight. "I believe it's your turn?" Daisuke commented, looking right at Inarie. He seemed to have an unusual interest in Inarie, seeing her situation or more so her bloodline as interesting and wanted to see what type of person she is for it.

Team Meeting Empty Re: Team Meeting

Post by InarieKaguya Thu Aug 29, 2019 11:17 pm

Inarie was faced with lots of new faces, and only one of them she knew by name and rank. The last, but not least to arrive is a young lady that Inarie thought was rather pretty. Daisuke apparently has been keeping quiet, and so did Tsukimi that it made Inarie feel like she was missing something. Every time Inarie looked over at Daisuke she swears that boy was staring at her like a hawk. Only he did look at Tsukimi and Inarie thought she might see a smile on his lips. Sadly not, but that wasn’t important right now. Bryn officially introduced herself and expressed on what she is good at. Even as far as giving minor demonstrations of her elements, which frankly the fire and wind wasn’t that impressive. However that thing Bryn called scorch was incredibly hot for such a small thing. It gives Inarie the shiver that she didn’t want to even touch that thing or be near it.

It seems that they were doing the traditional form of introductions as a team, and frankly Inarie was excited to be part of a team. Truthfully, it really just dawned on her that she really is part of a team now. No pranks or misunderstandings was done here. Of course Inarie paid attention to Daisuke who expressed that he has access to his Dead Bone Pulse and proved as such. That put some salt on Inarie if there was any since she hadn’t been able to utilize her abilities just yet. After Daisuke the spotlight was put on Inarie as she lightly giggled at the pressure. Of course Daisuke staring at her was a bit unnerving, but nothing she couldn’t handle.

”Well my official name is Inarie Yoru-Kaguya, and while I haven’t been able to unlock the Kaguya’s gift I am still good with a blade. Of course the blood of the dragons flows through me,” Sparks of raiton flickered around Inarie’s body as the hairs on her arms stand up from her porcelain skin. A hint of a smile can be seen on her lips.

”Well let’s just say that when it comes close quarters combat even I can give you a hard time Daisuke. I’ve also taken the liberty of learning many techniques regarding Kenjutsu and Ninjutsu to an extent. Sadly I have no element to call upon.” Then Inarie turned her attention to Tsukimi and offered an assuring smile this time. Inarie pieced it together that she was Tsukimi Hozuki since she was the only other member of the team left. Inarie had met a rare Hozuki who was also a Yuki member, but she sadly died from the plague some time ago. So it was enlightening to find another Hozuki to communicate with.

”And you must be Tsukimi Hozuki yes?”

Team Meeting Empty Re: Team Meeting

Post by Tsukimi Hozuki Sat Aug 31, 2019 7:29 am

A flickering flame. Droplets of water trickling from the tip of an index finger. Air currents, strong enough to be visible to the human eye. All were demonstrations of the elemental affinity to one’s chakra, Tsukimi had seen similar demonstrations during her time at the academy, her sensei instructing a class on the basics of ninjutsu. However, according to that same sensei, dual-affinities were complicated, difficult. Multiple-affinities even more-so.

As Bryn spoke and demonstrated, Tsukimi’s eyes widened, awe reflected also in how her lips parted, half-of-a-smile. Though, that same smile faltered as the air around her suddenly turned stifling, heat kissing her skin not with a painful sting but discomforting nonetheless. Scorch release. It seemed powerful and even more-so dangerous.

And the heat had begun to dry out Tsukimi’s skin, and, reaching for her thigh-pouch, she dug out a thin, short plastic cylinder. Unscrewing the cap, she pressed the plastic to her lips and drank from its watery content, slow sips. Just as Bryn looked to Daisuke, encouraging him to introduce himself to them all.

    Him and then Inarie.

Had Tsukimi not already met Daisuke previously, knew the basic functions of the Kaguya bloodline, she might have been taken more aback by the ease in which he removed a part of his bone to then fashion it into a blade. Inarie, however – Tsukimi warily took a step away from the taller girl as sparks of lightning crackled and ran across her skin. She tried to keep her expression cordial, after all who could really fault the other for showing off her skills to impress. But lightning tended to make Tsukimi nervous.

”Ah. Y-yes, that’s right.” At Inarie’s nudging, Tsukimi bowed, a practiced motion that took part only above her shoulders, her back and posture almost rigid.

”Hozuki Tsukimi, a pleasure to meet you all.” Raising her head, she paused, not overly certain what to say for her own introduction. ”I guess I’m best suited at close-quarter combat but I’m more comfortable with a tool in my hand than I am with just a closed or open fist …”

”Oh, um,” adding quickly, as if the thought had only just occurred to her, she said, ”I also have an affinity for water due to my clan’s kekkei genkai. But, um,” colour began to bleed across her cheeks and she dropped her gaze, ”I would prefer not to show it off …”

Crass, transforming into a watery form just for the entertainment of outsiders – that was the condemning way her family, her father, would have thought of it. Theirs was a family of merchants, leaders, victors – not shameless sideshow performers.

Post by Bryn Sat Aug 31, 2019 12:38 pm

Bryn made sure to pay attention to each of her new students as they introduced themselves and gave a brief explanation of their abilities. A couple of them even showed them off like Bryn had, though Tsukimi opted not to display her talents. Hmmmmmmmm, I bet she's either stuck up about it or shy about it. She is a Hozuki after all. Bryn had been amazed at how much influence the Hozuki had in Kirigakure when she had first arrived with her mother all those years ago. Sure, they had funded and founded the village but still, they had their hands dipped into every facet of the village in one way or another. Bryn didn't really care one way or the other who paid her as long as she got paid though.

Smiling still, Bryn would nod her head once in approval after everyone had introduced themselves. "Good! Introductions are important for a squad. We're all going to be working together for awhile so we've got to be able to trust each other and we have to know what each of the other is capable of. Even if you're shy about it now, eventually we're going to know each other better than you know your family."

Bryn clapped her hands together at this point. "Alrighty, so first things first. Today I'm going to individually assess all of you to get a rough idea of what you're capable of in the field rather than what a piece of paper says about you. After that, there's going to be a team exercise where the three of you are going to have to figure out a way to work together. For what, I'm not going to say quite yet." She gave a wide grin at this point. "That's a secret for later." Then she pointed at the clearing described earlier. "Daisuke, Inarie, head over to that clearing and go to different sides. Tsukimi, you're going to stay right here." Bryn then grabbed her training staff before she made the clone seal and created two shadow clones that began to head off towards the clearing. Bryn stayed with Tsukimi at the log, waiting for the other two to head off. Each had been created with a copy of the weighted staff.

She turned to Tsukimi. "Okie dokie, so you can use weapons and water, right?" Once Tsukimi confirmed, Bryn would continue. "Good. Then I'm going to show you a technique that will come in handy that uses both of those things. Since you're a Hozuki, you won't have any issues finding enough water to use it either. After that, we'll see how well you use it. Sound good?" If Tsukimi agreed, then Bryn would nod and approach the genin. She stopped once she was about one meter from her and then brought her hands together as if to form seals.

"Alright, so get ready to weave some seals and focus your chakra on producing suiton. Then, weave these three seals." To show Tsukimi, Bryn would weave the seals Rat->Dog->Ox slowly so Tsukimi could see what each one was clearly. "Once you've woven the seals and have your chakra focused, concentrate it into one hand and imagine the chakra elongating, like this," she continued, focusing chakra into her right hand as she held it out in front of her, palm up. A ball of water appeared and then extended outwards until it was four meters long. Bryn had stopped it there on purpose, though it could be elongated to as much as ten meters. "You'll need quite a bit of chakra in order to use it for the average genin's reserve, a C rank amount of it. The technique is called the 'Water Whip' jutsu. It's very hand for keeping an opponent at a distance or for entangling people." With a smile, Bryn would quickly crack the whip to Tsukimi's left, the snap being behind the genin. The jutsu acted like a real whip and was capable of inflicting the same type of damage, too. "Now, you give it a go."

    Inarie-

Bryn's clone headed towards one end of the clearing with Inarie, turning to face her once they had reached their end. The clone smiled just like the real Bryn did and placed her hands on her hips. "Okay, so since your last name is Kaguya and you've got a second kekkei genkai that does some fun stuff, I'm going to guess you're a close combat type of shinobi." The clone would wait for Inarie to confirm this or not, proceeding much the same either way. "I want you to attack me and show me what you can do. I'll respond in kind, though not hard enough to hurt you." The clone paused here, realizing what it had just said to a Kaguya. She chuckled, imagining Hana staring at her like she was an idiot. "Right. I meant if I could hurt you with taijutsu." The clone set down the training staff and took up a basic taijutsu stance. She knew the basic taijutsu taught in the village, a good thing to have just in case one found themselves without weapons. "Whenever you're ready."

    Daisuke-

The other clone Bryn made took Daisuke to the opposite end of the clearing from Inarie. It too would turn and face Daisuke once they had gotten to their side of the clearing and placed its hands on its hips. "Alright, so you're a pure blooded Kaguya that already has the ability to manipulate their bones." She smiled and gave an approving nod. "That's a good place to start from as a genin. I take it you focus primarily on taijutsu and weaponry, then?" Once confirmed, the clone would nod again. "Alright, then I need to see where you're at with both your bloodline and your skill as a taijutsu practitioner." The clone took up a basic defensive stance as it said this, ready to tango with the Kaguya. "First, lets stick to your raw taijutsu ability. I want to see what you can do without your bones."

    Used:

    Shadow Clone jutsu

Water Whip C rank, -5 cp (taught to Tsukimi)

Daisuke paid attention to Inarie's introduction particularly, while it wasn't blowing his expectations out of the water, she still left enough of an impression to keep Daisuke's interest. He had more interest in her combined kekkei genkai than herself as a person. He scoffed at her comment of giving him a hard time in close quarters, though he wasn't quick to judge it as she might actually have that advantage, whether it's because of her combined kekkei genkai or she actually trained herself to be efficient in close quarters remains to be seen, but he'd respect her more if it turns out to be the latter. Regardless, with some of his curiosity sated from her given introduction and display of her abilities, a half smile came on Daisuke's lips.

And then came the final introduction, Tsukimi. He had already met her so the name wasn't news to him, nor the nature of her personality but what made him a bit surprised is her commenting that she's good at close-quarters combat. He didn't really have her pegged as someone who's good up and close, feeling a bit of salt that everyone on the team seems to be good in close quarters, something that the Kaguya prides themselves on. He couldn't really say otherwise though, considering Inarie is also a Kaguya by name but still... it would be nice to have something as his own.

After all the introductions were done, their new sensei spoke up once more, talking about the necessity of knowing each other's abilities followed by what they're going to do for this session, which sounded like individual assessments and then the mention of a team exercise. He's already thinking that all of them have to fight against their new sensei in this supposed team exercise, but that's just his guess. For now though, he'd focus on the individual assessment and went off with the clone that Bryn made.

Then came the questions, to which he gave an honest answer about himself. "I'm good in Taijutsu, though there's quite a bit I still need to learn about it, I only know about Arhat Fist at the moment. Regarding my bones ability, I can only produce bones to make weapons at the moment, my control isn't good enough for the combat sense that were known for." it's a prowess he does want to reach, having bones stick out at critical points while dealing his Taijutsu against opponents is something he does want in his arsenal, but controlling Kaguya bones are very tricky and he's fortunate enough to even be able to produce bones at all considering his level.

He then did as she asked, he took a sudden stance that looked familiar to anyone who dabbles in Taijutsu, or knows their Taijutsu at least. The Arhat Fist stance where one puts their palm forward. He mostly did this to show off to Bryn, though and came forward with an attack by the shoulder, going straight for Bryn to see what she'd do. He was curious in her ability and wondered what she'd do to counter Daisuke.

Tsukimi confirmed on who she was, and Inarie didn't notice how tense Tsukimi was from her Raiton show. Still it dawned on Inarie after Tsukimi finished introducing herself that they were all pretty much close quarters specialist. Of course Inarie won't bring it up as Bryn finishes up with the introductions. Next up they were to be individually tested to see what they were truly capable of. Inarie never realized until now that she's never actually fought someone before. It was just training and doing missions.

"Alright. I'll give it my all." Inarie shortly spoke before turning on her heel and walking off towards the clearing. Once she arrived and there was another Bryn following up behind not just Inarie, but Daisuke as well. Bryn spoke of what they were going to do and invited Inarie to strike first. The young Dragon had a couple of ideas, and it was true that she has two kekkei genkai within her. Inarie dips her head in agreement before Bryn got into a stance. No weapons Inarie noticed, but Inarie's expertise relies on her sword. Perhaps Bryn knows this and still chooses taijutsu?

Inarie shook those thoughts away before drawing out her chokuto from the scabbard. It was the typical iron blade, and while it has an edge Inarie wagered it couldn't handle too much strain. Still with the chokuto in one hand, held with grace, "I am ready." With half a tiger formed by her free hand, Inarie gains a burst of speed to which she sprints in a straight line towards Bryn. As it was the drawback of Body Flicker, and yet at the last second of when Inarie reached Bryn whether cut short by the sensei herself or just getting close. Inarie will suddenly lateral jump to the side hopefully to Bryn's blindside and the instant her foot touched the ground. Inarie stepped closer within sword's reach as she swings her chokuto at the left side of Bryn. Where she will attempt to smack at Bryn's arm or ribs. Of course if Bryn evades and counters while within close quarters. Inarie's chakra pours into her scales the sparks wildly before rapidly expanding outward covering a whole meter radius as an attempt to give Bryn a shock and hopefully stagger her.

Post by Tsukimi Hozuki Thu Sep 05, 2019 6:26 am

She hoped – prayed desperately – that she hadn’t caused offense, that she hadn’t created the wrong impression of haughtiness. It was fine – more than fine – that her new sensei had demonstrated a talent that no-one else possessed. That Inarie likewise proved her own uniqueness. And that even Daisuke had awoken that which made his clan so remarkable. It was a demonstration of strength, of capability, of what each could individually bring to their forming team.

That being said, Tsukimi just couldn’t do the same. At the risk of portraying herself as one without a unique skill or talent – or worst, incapable of being a team-player, she had to follow what she knew that her family would want, expected from her. Theirs – the Hydrification technique – was not for idle use, or for performance.

Her amber hues still downcast, Tsukimi could feel Bryn-Sensei’s gaze upon her but couldn’t bring herself to raise her own gaze, to soothe the flush to her skin, her cheeks. Not until the jonin spoke her name, instructing for Tsukimi to “stay right here,” whereas her freshly created clones would lead both Daisuke and Inarie a little further away, for individual training.

”O-oh – uh, I mean, yes, Sensei …” Watching the taller woman ready a training staff, Tsukimi corrected her posture. Threading her fingers behind her back, she determined not to fidget nervously. Nodding her head, in response to Bryn’s next question, Tsukimi remained quiet as the jonin explained her intention to teach her a water-based jutsu, suggesting that “as a Hozuki” Tsukimi shouldn’t find it difficult – at least conjuring the source of water for its use anyway. Tightening the cap upon her water-bottle, Tsukimi returned it to the pouch strapped against her thigh.

There was a balance, in using Hydrification, and getting it wrong would see her turn into – well. Not quite herself. Yet, rather than say as such, Tsukimi offered her sensei a short smile, replying, ”Yes, Sensei.” Worry eclipsed by curiosity and excitement over being taught a new jutsu.

She watched Bryn’s hands intently, her lips moving silently, identifying the telling hand-symbols, memorizing the order. Her right hand grasping, gripping her thumb, index and middle fingers in the gesture of “rat.” Her right hand clenched into a fist whilst resting her left, fingers stretched, across her right’s knuckles, gesturing “dog.” And then threading her fingers together, her right hand elevated slightly above her left, her left’s index and pinkie fingers held upright, for the gesture of “ox.”

Bryn then explained the necessary molding of one’s chakra, wanting Tsukimi to stretch the conjured water, alike runny caramel, before encouraging the teenager to try.

Tsukimi allowed her eyes to close gently, albeit briefly. In the dark quiet of her mind, without bright of noisy distractions, she found it easier to gather and to control her chakra, which felt, at any given time, like a moving stream, water. It took deliberation and some cleverness to hold onto it, to hold it still, without doing as water did – slipping, dripping away. It took a couple of heartbeats, but Tsukimi felt the cool moisture gathering, encapsulating her right fist. And, applying further focus, it began to stretch, as Bryn had bid, growing longer and longer, though a bit short of her own demonstration.

    Daisuke~

Daisuke answered Bryn truthfully, which she appreciated. It was only taijutsu he was good at, but that was fine for a Kaguya. They were the taijutsu masters, and it wouldn't surprise the clone at all if Daisuke managed to make her poof away despite being a genin. A bone placed just right could make the clone impale its hand or something. She proceeded as normal with her request and Daisuke obliged. Bryn could tell he had quite a bit of force in his charge, though it wasn't something she could ever see herself doing. No, most of her taijutsu was relegated to defensive maneuvers.

The genin's bullrush was met with a precise display of physical prowess by Bryn, side stepping to her right while reaching for Daisuke's left shoulder with her forward hand, her own left. This palm would be placed on his shoulder, pushing him down, in,  and forwards while her right leg snapped out to trip him. The result would be a redirection of force meant to throw Daisuke into the dirt. Bryn wouldn't follow up with an attack after this, choosing instead to dance back from Daisuke a couple meters, ready to see if he had anymore tricks to try.

"A little too forward, but I like the initiative. Try again," she said cheerily, a small smile on her face. He seemed kinda bland at first, but maybe he was the type of guy who liked to get into his own zone while fighting where his real personality could shine. Bryn didn't mind either way, as long as he proved to be a good time.

    Inarie~

The genin didn't say much, wanting to get right to the good stuff. Yeah, that was definitely something Bryn could get behind. In fact, she had a date set up later that night that wou- uh, got off track there. The clone refocused onto Inarie as she drew her blade, relaxing as it prepared to evade whatever she might try to do. Then she did something that impressed Bryn quite a bit; she wove a one-handed hand sign. The clone was almost too stunned to react, though instincts kicked in anyways and would bring her out of harms way. Still, for a genin to have that skill was impressive. Bryn herself had not opted to train for that particular talent, opting instead to find a way to evade the use of hand signs at all. She had found a way, but the more complex a jutsu was the more chakra it took to correct the balance and make it a viable jutsu. Some called it a waste of chakra, but most did not have her sheer amount of the stuff. Hell, even when you thought she was out she somehow managed to come up with enough to bombard you with another intense volley of jutsu, and then do it again!

Inarie dashed towards her using the Body Flicker, a standard practice for inexperienced shinobi. It was a habit she was going to need to end with this one, and quickly. She didn't react to the bluff of a rush, hoping that Inarie wouldn't try such a brazen tactic with a tell like the Body Flicker being used. Instead she darted to the side and Bryn would turn to face Inarie. The genin tried to slash at her ribs, though Bryn would evade by stepping back and pulling her waist back to increase the distance between her torso and the blade. Her left hand was kept at chest height, above where the blade would strike, and as it passed by her Bryn's left hand would slap down on the flat of the blade. The slap was hard, meant to either disarm or knock Inarie off balance a bit. The jonin stepped back just as she had with Daisuke, putting a bit of space between her and the genin. It was a good thing she did too, the clone being half a meter out of the range of the static field before it went off. Bryn raised an eyebrow at that, a little startled.

She maintained a defensive posture, just as eager to see what Inarie had to offer as she was with the other two. "I did say I would respond in kind, but if you don't want me to use chakra then I wouldn't recommend you use it either. Not yet anyways," Bryn warned. It had been a good idea, yes, and had even caught her off guard for a moment. But she figured it would be bad form to use ninjutsu against her students on their first day. At least, it had been with her previous squad.

    Tsukimi~

The Hozuki didn't bat an eye when Bryn cracked her whip, concentrating instead on performing the jutsu she had shown her. That took quite a bit of concentration or she had a severe shortage of fucks to give. Either one could be a useful trait to have, though each could also be a glaring weakness by those who paid attention to it. Bryn noted this moment for later training, thinking it might come in handy at some point down the road. Tsukimi did a passable first attempt at a water whip, hers being about three meters long as opposed to Bryn's four. She nodded.

"That's the general idea you want" Bryn would step forward, placing her free hand on the hand that held Tsukimi's water whip. Bryn would use a bit of her own chakra to push into the jutsu, her expertise in the skill showing here as she used a bit of chakra to extend the length of the whip to five meters. She made her own whip the same length and, once she was done helping Tsukimi, would stand next to her. Of course, Bryn made sure to avoid having Tsukimi in the line of fire.

Bryn pointed at the log she had been sitting on when the squad had first arrived. "Next thing is to figure out its limitations. It's mostly the same as a regular bullwhip, but that means jutsu can interrupt it just as easily as well. The advantage is that you can regenerate this whip, but you can't regenerate a regular one. The same goes for any weapon you can mold from chakra." She paused here, realizing that probably wasn't the best thing to tell a genin right off the bat. "That doesn't mean don't carry any physical weapons though. Being able to conserve your chakra for other things more important than simply making a whip or a handful of senbon is a good idea as well. Preservation of stamina is key for any shinobi. If you exhaust yourself early in a fight, you die. Now, how to use the whip."

Bryn would snap the whip at the log, stripping a line of bark from it with one stroke before pulling it back. "Did you see how I did that? I want you to try and do the same thing." Bryn would wait and watch, eager to see what Tsukimi could do.

Daisuke knew that his attack wasn't going to land so easily, he was testing the waters with how she'd counter instead of the actual intent of attacking her and as expected of a superior shinobi by rank, she managed to redirect his attack and instead Daisuke fell into the dirt. A poor display on Daisuke's half, perhaps even laughable if others were watching but he saw it as necessary, he needed to know how his sensei would react to an attack like that before he could start making proper attacks.

He didn't seem mad at all from being put into the dirt, patting off the dirt from his clothes as soon as he got up, nodding lightly at Bryn after given the word to try again. He decided to try something and see if she could be tricked. He followed up with yet another shoulder charge, seemingly having the same intention of attack as before but as soon as Daisuke reached close quarters with Bryn once more, he'd instead go to a halt and completely switch his attack, a rising knee aimed for the clones stomach would replace what would've been the shoulder charge.

He knew that by the end of this training session, he might not even land an actual hit on his sensei. He's well aware of his level and that he needs more experience, and more training before he can give trouble to Bryn... but at least he's getting there.

Post by InarieKaguya Thu Sep 12, 2019 5:48 pm

It was a mixture of a surprise as it was expected that simply tricking Bryn wasn’t going to work. Still Inare proceeded with her course of action witnessed Bryn nimbly evading the attempt. Her movements were a blur to Inarie, and with a slap on Inarie’s chokuto the blade was forced downward. Inarie struggled to maintain her grip, literally it was held by her fingernails under the threads to keep it from flying out of her hand. One important thing about any swordswoman is to never allow herself be disarmed unless she’s knocked out or unable to do so.

Bryn backed away just barely outside of Inarie’s field of electricity, and though Inarie was a bit disappointed that did not connect it held merit to force Bryn to keep her distance. Her sensei warned Inarie about chakra usage, and with a last spark the field of raiton seem to shrink into Inarie’s scales. It made a buzzing sound as Inarie readjusted her grip to hold onto it properly.

”Apologies, I’m still getting used to that ability.” Inarie admits, although there was another reason why she dismissed the field. The initial burst is good for surprise counters, but as Inarie is aware of it held a strain if Inarie maintained it for too long. Inarie took a moment to evaluate the situation as she thought to herself on what to do next.

Seems like I need to favor precision and speed than strength… Her eyes locked onto the clone, Inarie shifts her stance with her chokuto held with just one hand. Then with a quick lunge forward Inarie thrusts her blade with excellent precision and speed. Although after she thrust Inarie could only see the blur of iron. It was an attempt aiming for dead center of Bryn’s core, and if Bryn side stepped Inarie will follow-up with another attempt. With a twist of her wrist and swipe of her arm Inarie will attempt to horizontal slash that will likely catch Bryn’s arm. Or vertical slash if Inarie can see Bryn crouching blur or not.

(Green said I could go so I will)

    Daisuke~

Bryn's clone would wait patiently for Daisuke to rise from his new position in the dirt. The clone wondered if Daisuke minded being thrown around like that or if he considered it his sensei picking on him. She remembered her first squad having a member like that, though it didn't last very long as Bryn had put the other two members in the dirt as well before too long. She was planning to do the same here to Daisuke and Inarie, though Tsukimi seemed to be more of a ninjutsu user and that was what the real Bryn was focusing on with her.

He was ready to go for round two without complaint though, something she had to give him credit for. The young Kaguya would set himself again before charging at Bryn in pretty much the exact same fashion as he had before. Not gonna work twice if it didn't work once, Daisuke, she thought to herself with some amusement. When he got within range of her however, Daisuke would change his method of attack into a knee meant to drive into her stomach.

The clone pulled back, stepping just out of range of the knee while slapping the outside of his leg to push it out of the way. The clone slipped to the side with the raised knee and stepped in to sweep Daisuke's planted leg out from under him before simply backing off and allowing him to recover. He had tried a feint! That was good! It meant he had a bit of a brain when it came to combat and recognized his disadvantage here. About the only way he could land anything would be with tricks without access to his bloodline abilities.

"That was a good idea! Feints are an important part of any shinobi's arsenal of tricks and I'm glad to see you're not afraid to use them. I like it," she said with a grin. The clone set itself again, ready to see what else Daisuke could throw her way. "Got any more tricks you haven't shown me yet?"

    Inarie~

Inarie recovered well from Bryn's brief counter, managing to hold onto her sword as her sensei backed away. The genin apologized for the outburst of chakra, making it sound as if she hadn't intended to actually utilize that ability. The clone displayed nothing to indicate it didn't believe her, but Bryn doubted that had been an accidental maneuver. If Bryn still remembered being a teenager right, that was more than likely Inarie's attempt at showing off. If she had managed to clip her sensei with something like that then it would be a display to the other two genin that she was the best there, though Bryn wasn't one to count lucky hits as an indication of skill.

The Kaguya girl prepared herself for another attempt at Bryn's clone, prompting the clone to focus on her and get ready for whatever she may have planned. Inarie's strikes had been quick for a genin, on par with what most non-shinobi swordsmen were capable of with their regular strikes. This was true for both power and speed, letting the clone know that Inarie had a bit more physical ability than her peers though how much had yet to be determined.

Inarie dashed for Bryn's clone at a pace the jonin had no trouble following. She attempted a thrust, though this time delivered at a much faster speed than she had displayed previously. The clone reacted by pulling back out of range of the thrust, tracing Inarie's movements with her eyes. The genin was moving quickly, but her strike was very focused. The same was true for her follow up, an attempt at a slash for Bryn's arm. Bryn dropped and spun, matching Inarie's speed but with the big difference being that Bryn could accurately follow what was going on while Inarie seemed intently focused on the strikes themselves. Perhaps she couldn't actually track her own strikes at this speed? That seemed plausible considering she was a genin.

Bryn's counter was a leg sweep delivered underneath Inarie's attempted slash, meant simply to take the genin off her feet before the Valkyrie of Kirigakure pushed to the side and waited for Inarie to stand for another attempt. "That's some vicious speed you've got behind those strikes, Inarie. I'm actually a bit impressed," the clone admitted. "But being able to swing a sword fast doesn't do you much good if you can't focus on the strike and your target well enough to follow up. You need to keep your body's movements where they're comfortable so that you're not caught off guard as easily. It does nobody any good to hit fast if they're dead because the attack was delivered hastily. Try again." The clone readied itself again in a defensive stance, eager to see what else Inarie could do.

Daisuke's reaction compared to his sensei's quick speed were a fair distance apart, before he even noticed what she'd try to do after swiftly dodging his knee strike. He put back into the dirt once more, even his hair had gotten a bit into it and his fair Kaguya skin was starting to look messy. Internally, Daisuke was a little salty but his self-control kicked in and his focus went back towards Bryn, an intense glare of sorts came compared to a casual face before. He tried to think of some way to land a hit, no matter how minimal it is. If he could just land even that, he'd be happy. He thought of one more trick to try since it felt like he was close with the knee strike.

He prepared once more as if he were going for a shoulder charge. again. The intention was to leave her guessing, make her think that his attacks are going to be straightforward and simple when really, they'll hit her before it's too late. It looked like he was about to start running but in an instant, he brought out the makeshift kunai that he made earlier from the pocket in his pants and threw it at her. Whether she intended to dodge it and move to the side, that's where Daisuke planned to shoulder charge. If she caught it, he's hoping she wouldn't enough time to register Daisuke charging right at her. Regardless of how she handles the bone kunai, his shoulder charge isn't too far behind which is aimed straight for her.

Everything was blurry, from Inarie's own strikes and even Bryn's own speed. Inarie saw the blue of Bryn crouching down to which the Kaguya attempted to swing the flat of her blade downward. That is until something strong struck Inarie's leg and next thing Inarie knew she was facing skyward. Realizing that she's been tripped, Inarie used her quick reflexes as she quickly twirled with a spin of her body. Much like how one would expect from an acrobat or a dancer. Where Inarie simultaneously thrust her chokuto downwards into the earth with her palm against the pommel for balance. Maintaining the momentum of her spin, Inarie attempted to perform a double kick right at Bryn's center. Or if Bryn was still crouching it would actually aim for her neck instead. This was more of a combination to not only deliver a blow against Bryn, but also to knock her off balance for even a moment.

Should this succeed, Inarie will use Bryn as a jumping platform to flip her own body over and land with the chokuto between her and Bryn. Trying to maintain whatever advantage she might have, Inarie will lunge forward with swinging her chokuto from the earth to a diagonal arc from Bryn's lower left to her upper right. In doing so Inarie will kick up dirt and dust with the arc that is a mild attempt to get into Bryn's eyes to where it can be hard to see with the stinging sensation. Bryn wanted to see what they can do individually, and Inarie was here to prove her training wasn't for show. Aside from the kick the slash would have considerable weak power yet it moved in slightly slower speed to where Inarie can follow it through focus.

After the training lesson, Daisuke decided to head off shortly after. It was interesting to meet his squad and learn more about his limits, but his time had to be cut short and he left.
