Mission: Who Let the Dog Out? (Private)

Mission Details:

Receiving mission pay for the first time motivated Riku to work even more often. This next task would require observational skills and probably some quick thinking. The blue haired teen was to find someone's lost pet and return it. Spot, the animal in question, had last been seen in at the Market. Finding a particular medium sized dog could prove challenging in a crowded area like this, so Riku was on guard despite the mission being relatively easy.

Where would a dog go? Riku's first guess was that Spot would go wherever he could find scraps. She had seen shopkeepers chasing away all manner of pests trying to scavenge their trash including rats, feral cats, and the occasional stray dog. The blue haired girl began by scanning the crowd as she walked for any signs of angry shopkeepers.

"Shoo!"

Riku's head turned at the exclamation. She hurried closer to get a closer look. Unfortunately, it was just an older woman chasing off rats with a broom. The trash bin outside her store had been overturned and the rodents wasted no time in trying to take advantage of the potential free meal. The furry little pests scattered, disappearing between the feet of people bustling about.

No dice.

The genin asked the woman if she had seen a brown dog with a large white patch on his side, but she hadn't. After helping the woman clean up the mess, Riku moved on.

This process repeated a few times before she noticed an angry butcher chasing a dog that matched Spot's description. The dog had a leg, probably from a goat, in his jaw and was attempting to drag it away.

Riku grinned and formed a quick hand seal before giving chase. She appeared right in front of the naughty dog, causing it to yelp and drop the meat.

Swiftly, the genin grabbed the dog, wrapping her arms around its torso and holding the animal so his back was pressed against her stomach. "You're lucky I'm here to save your hide," she told it before rushing off.

The butcher shouted, but Riku was already gone, dragging Spot back to his owner.

"Nothing personal, Spot. Try and stay out of trouble after this," Riku told the squirming dog.
