Village: Kumogakure
Rank: Genin, E-Class
Title: "The Black Void", "Mikiri, the Unquenchable", "Mikiri, the Undying Hunger", "Prince of the Night", [And 22.3 others]
Clan: Mikiri [-1 Skill Point]
Bloodline: Dark Release [-Meiton-]
Element(s): Dark Release, Lightning Release
Skill(s):3, E-Class
Stats [-1 Future Stat Raise]
Drawbacks:
Appearance:
Irui stands at 5'5", with a lean, athletic build bearing the silver hair, fair skin, and dark brown eyes of his clansmen. As a Kumogakure shinobi, he wears a modified dark grey robe featuring a hood and long sleeves. The robe extends past his waist, stopping just above the midsection of the thigh-- so its more of a pullover, or something. Over this he'll don a white Kumogakure flack-jacket, bearing standard colors, pockets, and other typical adornments. Black pants are the norm as well. Around his waist he'll sinch a pair of belts at a diagonal to carry small items and equipment.
For more inclimate weather, Irui likes to don a traveling cloak, gloves, and shinobi-boots. Because of his unique specialty and battlefield niche, his need to move quickly and quietly supersedes his desire for the more flamboyant (and skimpy) fashions many of his peers have chosen. You certainly won't see this one wearing a neon orange jacket.
Irui's Dark Release diamond marks are on his left hand.
History:
Irui was born into the reclusive Mikiri Family, in the snowy mountains of the Land of Lightning. Growing up, he was taught to treasure his clan's bloodline and to protect it at all costs, to sequester it and keep it hidden from the world at large. His mother, hoping to ensure her child wouldn't act foolishly, told Irui of the dangers of the world, painted with demons and monsters of legend that hungered for his abilities.
As a small child in the mountains, he always dreamed of seeing the world on the other side of those distant peaks. The legends and myths of the Hidden Cloud's folklore stoked the boy's imagination, and for the longest time he wanted to believe the Yuki-Onna, and other spirits persisted in the far reaches of the world. To feed his hunger for knowledge, Irui imagined the larger world and his imagination filled in the blanks.
Of course, children are impressionable.
While his mother and father warned him to keep his bloodline sequestered as the family established itself in the Hidden Cloud, rumors had started amongst the villagers. Shinobi who'd seen the powers of the Dark Release, saw it as "Unholy", associating it with demons and spirits of the underworld. They called the family "cursed", and "vile" for their consumption of chakra; equating it with the old mythologies of the Otsutsuki. Irui took those rumors unto himself, and slowly began to internalize them believing himself to be one of these horrible "Moon Devils", the Hidden Cloud talked about.
Irui entered the academy, and reluctant to demonstrate his Kekkei Genkai, took a keen interest in the unseen arts; finding aptitude in Genjutsu where his sharp creativity could run wild. As a teenager, Irui embraced the rumors about his Family, choosing to rebel against the Mikiri status quo. He would dedicate himself to becoming not only skilled with his bloodline, but bring it to the potential his aggressors feared.
Personality:
Born into the Mikiri Family of the Land of Lightning, Irui is-- is-- well, he's something. He's isn't the next wunderkind with the latest googly eyes, or ferocious demon, but a boy with a peculiar Kekkei Genkai and a huge imagination.
Growing up in the Mikiri Family, Irui led a life removed from the world at large, spending his days traversing the slopes and forests of the Land of Lightning. His family's insisted on seclusion from the greater shinobi society; handling roles exclusively within the mountainous region to safeguard their bloodline. Irui, always the dreamer, spent his childhood imagining what the world just over those peaks looked like, consuming media from all over the world whenever the opportunity arose. This only fueled his imagination; he envisioned Kumogakure's enemies and allies in fantastical drawings and stories, building them into grander entities taller than the mountains themselves.
As he's grown older, Irui has developed a bit of a rebellious streak as a teenager. Call it hormones,
or an artefact of his namesake, but the imagination can only satisfy one for so long. As he progressed in the Academy, Irui became more adveturous, more willing to seek out things beyond the reach of the Land of Lightning. At every opportunity, he has attempted to steal away from the village, to see the world but protocol surrounding his bloodline limit has always held him back. His creativity has spurned him to steeping himself in the legends and lore of his Bloodline Limit; using its trickery and hunger to craft the image of a boy born from the underworld. Of course he's still just a teenager, a melodramatic one at that. To date, he claims to have created 22.3 (Don't ask, you wouldn't understand, its a phase) titles he tries to go by.
Irui never adopted the xenophobic habits of the older generations. He has always been incredibly warm and welcoming to newcomers, to his detriment of course, believing anyone can be a potential ally or friend. This has made him prefer pacivity over conflict. As a shinobi of the Hidden Cloud, he has had a great deal of difficulty handling conflict and prefers to resolve it peacefully. Thus, he will defend himself but only when necessary, and almost always use their own force against them-- maximizing his Bloodline's potential in this manner. When surrounded by allies, he takes on the role of a tactician and supporter; assisting where able with defenses and diversions. As a result of his lifestyle, Irui is almost always hard to anger, succumbing to it only when called to defend someone he cares for.

- Ninjutsu || The most famous and practical of the Ninja Arts, Ninjutsu is founded upon the principles brought about by the Sage of the Six Paths and focuses upon the use of Chakra to accomplish a variety of tasks. As the most prominent of the three main Ninja Arts, Ninjutsu is widely practiced among the shinobi and as such comes more easily than other fields, allowing any shinobi to learn up to C-Rank without the Skill, while having the actual Skill represents time and dedication invested into this, beyond the already hefty amount of training that any academy student would devote, granting access to all ranks. Investing in Ninjutsu allows the character to choose one element or non-element they have an affinity towards which applies a one rank reduction in cost for those technique. This does not stack with UAs or enchantments.
- Genjutsu || The shinobi art of deception by means of assaulting the cerebral nervous system to alter the flow of energy in the brain, causing a myriad of effects controlled by the user that include, but are not limited to: hallucinations, manipulation, pain, and psychosis. Genjutsu most often involve some kind of trigger and can be more deadly based on the user's Intelligence, or more easily broken based on the target's Perception. Breaking a Genjutsu often occurs with a standard Genjutsu Kai or similar Technique, as well as pain or a Kai performed by someone touching the one affected; the method of breaking, as well as the trigger, often varies by each individual Genjutsu. As one of the three basic Ninja Arts, all shinobi are capable of performing D-Rank and lower Genjutsu.
- Summoning || The Ninja Art of Summoning; Kuchiyose is founded upon the principles of a single technique: the Summoning Jutsu. While any shinobi can learn this technique, only those with this Skill are able to master it to such a degree as signing a secondary contract and even creating their own custom contracts. Only the highly trained can tame even the wildest of beasts Those without this Skill are lacking in their affinity for new and unused summons, therefore limiting them to signing existing contracts and only calling upon creatures that are C-Rank and lower. Stamina determines how big a creature can be summoned, and how many, as it takes not only a hefty toll on the user, but requires a certain caliber of shinobi to summon certain higher level creatures.
Stats [-1 Future Stat Raise]
- Strength: E
- Constitution: E
- Stamina: D
- Speed: D
- Coordination: D
- Intelligence: C
- Perception: D
Unique Abilities: - Ravenous: Summons may be cast by utilizing chakra that has been absorbed and manipulated by Dark Release.
- Morsel: Upon successful use of "Dark Release: Inhaling Maw", Irui can use that morsel of the opponent's chakra to attune Genjutsu to that specific individual. Genjutsu cast in this manner acquire a +1 Rank in breaking-difficulty, hitting harder than a standard genjutsu. Cost is not affected.
Drawbacks:
- Ravenous: Summons cannot be cast without "Ravenous" being activated; Summons cannot be called to the field in any other way, and their rank must be equivalent to, or less than the rank of the absorbed technique/chakra. Summons cast in this manner will leave the field once their chakra has been spent.
- Morsel: Genjutsu affected by "Morsel" must have a rank equivalent or greater than the technique absorbed by "Dark Release: Inhaling Maw" in order to activate. Morsel's rank-modifier cannot be used to meet this prerequisite. (i.e if an A-rank is absorbed, an A-rank or lower Genjutsu can be cast). Additionally, as an added penalty, Lightning Release Techniques are treated as 1-Rank lower in Power when a a technique has been absorbed.
