Appearance: Kanna stands at 5'2" with a lithe but healthy build, a small amount of muscle within her thanks to training but nothing special. Kanna has her clan's characteristic light hair, almost a pure white that she wears quite long. Most of the time it is kept in a ponytail or braid so the length isn't in her way but occasionally she will let it fall free. Also showing her heritage are the marks on her hands, signifying the potential to use dark release. She has no scars or markings other than this as identifying factors.
She tends towards lighter clothing, preferring mobility over protection. On duty she will wear a sleeveless black top with long gloves to allow a comfortable, full range of motion in her shoulders. Pants are a little harder to get the same kind of effect while remaining decent, but comfort and mobility is still prioritised. Boots or sandals are worn depending on the environment. While jewellery is not an option on duty, during her down time she has a couple of rings she likes to wear.
History: Kanna had a normal childhood, or at least as normal as could be expected as part of her clan. While her parents were loving and kind they made sure that as soon as she could understand the importance of caution was drilled into her. Her father was a shinobi, and while he had never gotten into too much trouble there had been a couple of attempts at taking him in order to steal his bloodline ability before. They wanted to make sure that such a thing never happened to their daughter, but she was born with the markings so in their minds it was an inevitability.
And so she had to follow the rules. Never go anywhere on her own, no matter what. Never leave the house without gloves. And on no occasion, show someone outside of the clan the marks. It was tough for a child but eventually she adapted and life went on as well as possible. As she got older her father decided she would need to learn how to protect herself, and began teaching her the basics of self defence. It actually came rather quickly to her, even when the lessons got more advanced.
She was so proficient in fact that she was given the option to go to the academy to learn proper shinobi tactics and techniques, as much as her parents were initially set against it. In their mind it would put her in more danger, but at least it would give her the tools to deal with it as it came. She was by no means a genius, but her natural ability and prior teaching carried her comfortably through to graduation. As much as she tried her bloodline remained unavailable to her, but she knew it would come in time. She found her strength in genjutsu strangely enough, picking up the basics quickly but not choosing to focus on it for a time in order to try obtain her clan's dark release.
Personality: Kanna puts up a barrier between herself and others, something taught by her parents and their paranoia for her wellbeing, but if someone manages to break through that she is a genuinely kind and caring person. Given a choice she would go for a normal life working in a store or something, but the life of a ninja was chosen for her. She doesn't resent this though, putting as much effort into that as she would anything else. She has been given the chance to protect her village and clan, although she needs to get stronger to actually be able to do so properly anyway.
Even beyond her initial apprehension of most people she is naturally cautious, always looking for something that could go wrong. Even normal situations have something about to go wrong in her mind, no matter what the actual truth is.
