Description:

This item appears as a Shōgi set consisting of diverse yet standardized parts all constructed entirely of basic, non-Senju wood. Also, the first is the board upon which the related game is played and this board is composed of rectangles in a grid of 9 rows by 9 columns, thus yielding an 81-square board known as a "shōgi ban". Furthermore, this board is nearly always rectangular, and none of the 81 rectangles comprising its grid can ever be differentiated by marking or color. Besides that, pairs of dots mark the players' respective promotion zones. Beyond that, the second part of this set is the collection of 40 flat, wedge-shaped, pentagonal game pieces of varying sizes (i.e., 20 for white and 20 for black), otherwise known as "koma", with which players play the game associated with this set (i.e., shogi). Among these, except for each of the two kings, none of the other pieces can ever be differentiated by marking or color, but each one always has its respective name carved and painted into it to distinguish it from the rest. Lastly, the final part of this set is the pair of stands, known as "komadai", one of which is set on each side of the game board to hold captured enemy pieces for each player.
