History:
This life as a Shinobi, though small in stature as she was was not this girl’s first life, in fact it wasn’t even her second! Though it was by far the most eventful thus far: She didn’t know why but for the past two lives she had lived the memories had remained, or returned in the case of this most recent one. She remembered living her first life up until the age of about thirty, though the details are vague at best and she doesn’t know how she died that time. She remembered watching probably too much anime, Naruto included, reading fan fictions and playing the video games that came with the media: She remembered the plot points, good guys and bad guys and a few world-building points here and there… not that any of that would have helped her here though.
The girl remembered her second life which only lasted a few short years as her body was malnourished, premature and sickly a lot of the time. Though she did learn Magic through that world, magic she grew adept in that would one day help with Chakra learning later on. Her family in both lives were remembered, if only barely though her death in this last life was more memorable then the other as it was violent, a death filled with blood and gore and cruel men who wanted to abduct her for their own gains.
They had failed but she had died.
Being reborn as an Uzumaki was… an odd thing to say the least and it took a while for the name to click in her head, her infant line mind unable to completely formulate the connections for the first two years: This meant however that she was a tad more observant of her surroundings anyway- best to learn what she could early on. By the time the Uzumaki name had clicked the girl was three years old and entirely able to think clearly on what was going on and where she was; what Universe she was in.
She learned a few things during that time that went against what she knew, and some that matched it. Her family was the Uzumaki, those Normally red headed people who liked sealing and were stupid good at it and had this Chakra Chains; her new mom had the Chains, as did the older sister she found herself with and the younger brother. But that was weird, according to the hazy memories of the anime there weren’t many Uzumaki, or at least not many known ones she could think. So that was different. She also learned that they were in Kirigakure, the Village Hidden In the Mist; a place with a potentially mind-controlled Kage and bloodline wars: But that wasn’t happening here, not from what she could parse out through eavesdropping once she learned the language well enough. It was odd, wrong and drew the girl to worry far more than she would have liked.
The girl learned her name eventually and that in itself was something she found more interesting than anything; her name was Asura Uzumaki. She thought they picked that name as some homage to the son of the Sage Of Six Paths or something but she never bothered to ask.
From a young age Asura observed her family, taking note that though Uzumaki they were poor, nearly dirt poor in fact, so poor to the point her older sister, only a year older then herself spent her early childhood learning to catch fish and forage in the wooded areas near the village for extra foods: Her dad was a Chuunin Gate Guard but of low rank and didn’t quite gain as much money as he would have liked and her mom? Her mom was a retired Chuunin staying at home for the first while to raise her children till they would be old enough to attend The Academy. Both children would be made to attend the Ninja Academy, as would their little brother when he was old enough.
The neighborhood the little family of Uzumaki lived in was easily in the Slums section of the village positioned at the very end, a place where Crime was rampant, prostitution was a thing and thievery or worse could occur-after all it seemed no matter the city or village or even world, slums were still a thing.
Asura stuck by her mother listening to stories of the family and inwardly questioning why they were so poor while others of their clan were not, though she didn’t meet many of them. The woman explained Sealing and showed her their Chakra Chains. Maybe one day Asura could see if she had the ability herself. The girl took more interest in Sealing though and would begin to observe anything she could about it.
Eventually it came time for Asura to begin at the Academy, following in her sister’s footsteps in that regard though it proved difficult. Asura did not make many friends there, only one in a clanless boy who lived in the slums in her neighbourhood, much like herself he was put into the Academy because it was not only free education, but his family believed it would help in the Income department better then anything they had to teach him: He had 4 older brothers and they too were Shinobi, though the oldest had only been a Genin for a year and the others were still in the Academy themselves.
Asura struggled in the school environment, hearing lecture after lecture on Chakra usage and whatever else was hard, her brain struggled to comprehend it until she saw it put into practice. Her sister was a year younger so sometimes if she could she would show what she ahd learned, her father too would help as best he could when she tried to explain what she struggled with and why: It seemed the girl had to see things or be able to look at them for her brain to comprehend.
Hours and hours of Academy lessons, of at home lessons to boot and anytime she could fathom to practice was the girl’s understandings skyrocket, if she saw someone stick a leaf to themselves to hone Chakra while they explained, she could figure it out as well but if they just explained how to do it, explained some feeling they felt while doing it she would find it near impossible. Her friend was far more adept at learning through simple explanation and spent many hours into the night outside with her to help her figure things out as well. A good support system helped more than she could’ve imagined.
As a result of this struggle, and in part due to her own desire to be able to help her family much sooner then she would Asura decided to try and graduate from The Academy early and so in preparation for her attempt the child worked harder then she had ever worked before! She got help from her family, read every book she could and worked to find sparring teams that she could observe to learn, to see what it was really like.
She’d asked to try to graduate when she was eight, but was summarily short down and told that at bare MINIMUM she would have to reach age ten.
The kids in the class began to bully her, telling her she wouldn’t be able to graduate early as she wanted , that she wasn’t good enough and that her grades weren’t good enough -she was a horrible test taker when it came to written exams- . Some targeted her living situation as they did other kids from the Slums of Kirigakure, seeing as they were more fortunate. Some targeted her size seeing as she was so much smaller then her peers thanks to having been born far too premature, combined with malnourishment and her often scruffy appearance thanks to her living situation and family struggles: But that was fine, she would just have to show them that it didn’t matter where you came from, how rich or poor your parents were Or how small you were; because hard work mattered more!
Finally age ten came and Asura went to go take part in the graduation exam, her sister staying the Academy another year to graduate at twelve herself while her little brother was just starting out. Her friend had opted to take the test alongside her if only for moral support though he wound up passing as well shortly before his 11th birthday. Asura, though her written grades were poor had proven of the years that once she understood something it stuck, that she could adapt to find her own way of memorizing and learning what was being taught: She’d proven adequate at Taijutsu, far better at Ninjutsu and… decent at Genjutsu though nowhere near her sister’s own prowess with it or her father’s in Taijutsu.
It was only JUST that Asura managed to to pass the exam and become a Genin where she was thankfully placed on a team with at least someone she knew, her childhood friend. Their third teammate was… not that nice honestly, the boy having come from a richer family within Kiri and being several years older then the two others: He thought himself better, superior then they were because he could afford to buy better tools then they could with his parents money and could do whatever he pleased with his Genin salary, that his clothes were better and Kumasi and shuriken were brand new or professionally cared for where theirs were second-hand or scuffed from use. Any time they proved to be better then him at something he grew angry and complained, actively trying to put the two down and even hurt them under the pretence of “Team Training” when their Sensei wasn’t around; it wasn’t ideal.
Their Sensei, a man from the Kaguya clan did his best to reign in the kids under his charge and keep them safe, taking time to work with Asura on her Taijutsu seeing as it was his own specialty, though it seemed that would never be something the girl would excel at no matter how hard she tried.
For now things were fine, the team was good, the D ranked missions were boring as heck but the money helped her family when they needed it so that was something. Asura is now a Shinobi in a world she knows plenty about from fiction of another world, finding herself both prepared in theory for what was to come, but horribly unprepared for the realities and differences around her.
Personality:
Asura is a young girl full of determination. She sees a goal and does what she must to achieve it: she’s very much family oriented and will do anything she can to help her family to survive in their poor slums living condition, in hopes of one day getting them to be able to live in a better part of the village then they do. Asura is not a physical person, barely reaching the average in many ways and it has become something of a frustration for her to have to deal with. She’s very much the type that needs to see something to learn from it and will often try to observe those around her wherever she possibly can. Despite her struggles when it comes to completely understand something she reads Asura does enjoy doing it and can often be found reading some book or another that she can get her hands on, and trying to parse out what she can from it in a separate notebook.
