Experience Points determine how powerful a character is and will allow for the progression of stats. Types of Experience Points Gaining Experience There are various ways to gain EXP.
Killing and Sparing PCs Fighting PCs is quite the endeavor as, unlike faceless NPCs, PCs will fight back. You gain EXP for either killing the PC or you gain even more EXP for sparing the target. Sometimes it's better for everyone to spare the target.
Near Death Experience This only counts for serious topics where your character has the actual chance of dying to another player character. Whether you are spared or you are saved. You will gain 100 EXP for the experience -- growing from the experience. Crafting You get EXP from crafting items (Weapon Crafting, Armorsmithing, Engineering). Each Crafting Skill grants you a cap of 100 EXP per calendar month (so having 2 will give you a cap of 200 EXP per calendar month). The max cap is 400 EXP per calendar month (500 If you have Master Crafter Restricted). You also gain EXP just by creating crafts.
Flashback Topics When performing a Flashback topic, or converting a topic to a Flashback, you will earn HALF of the EXP earned -- rounding up to the nearest 5. Roleplaying NPC/Bijuu When roleplaying as a Bijuu or an NPC for an event, the person roleplaying as the Bijuu/NPC will be granted a flat 30 EXP per post for their work. Staff Work At the beginning of every month, a member of staff will gain a bonus +150 EXP for their work. This can be split between any number of your characters -- but it must add up to 150. Sensei and Student If you are training a lower ranking shinobi, both you and the shinibi(s) are entitled to a +5 EXP bonus per post. You must, however, actually be teaching your student something -- doesn't have to be a jutsu, but it must be some form of tutelage. Experience from Me to You Unique Ability When you have this Unique Ability, all shinobi of lower class than yourself will gain +5 EXP. You will not reap this benefit. You will also lose 5 EXP for doing missions (both post EXP and multiplayer mission bonus EXP). Character Retirement At any time, you can retire any of your characters. A retired character essentially fades into the background and lives the rest of their life doing whatever they want. They're no longer a shinobi at this point and will no longer have any effect on the game-world. This character MAY NOT be brought out of retirement. There is no resetting this once you have retired. You can retire one character every six months. An exception to a character being permanently retired is that they were low-class upon retirement. If a retired character is C-Class or lower and their EXP hasn't been rolled over (see below), then the user may post in the character's update page to required that they be un-retired. However, like splitting roll-over EXP (see below), every time you exercise this option, you may not create another alternate character for a period of 8 months. Roll-Over Experience Whenever your character dies or retires, you MAY roll-over 25% of all earned Total Experience (Spendable EXP, or starting Spendable EXP does not count). You may put that 25% towards your new character. This is called 'Roll-over Experience'. This character must start out as Genin (starting at essentially zero EXP) in order to apply roll-over experience. Roll-over Experience cannot be applied to Chuunin-Start or Jounin-Start characters. Alternatively, you can apply Roll-Over Experience onto a currently existing character. This option may only be used once per PLAYER. This will be for the lifetime of your stay in Gladius. The exception to this rule is that you may retire a single character and put 25% roll-over experience onto more than one existing character. However, every time you do this, you may not create another alternate character for a period of 8 months. |
