Boars gone wild [C-Rank]

Ningyo waited outside the village gates on a patch of green grass, beneath and within the shade of a tall tree. She had been informed by Konoha Command that she was finally going to be missioning with an experienced Jounin.

She felt a small amount of apprehension (Konoha Jounin were, after all, elite practitioners of the deadly and mysterious techniques of the ninja world.) Ningyo eagerly awaited the experience, not knowing exactly what she should expect. The Administration department had yet to assign her a supervising Jounin, and she had little experience in joint missions, but she was excited to try to prove her worth to the village.

Ningyo's mind wandered as she waited I wonder what this stanger's personality will be like? she mused thoughtfully to herself.

The mission was a standard C-rank job. The wild and extremely virile forests surrounding Konoha gave birth to bustling populations of wolves, giant serpents, spiders, wild boars and other untame beasts. The aggression of these animals when they travelled beyond their borders into the neighboring towns and villages, sometimes made it necessary for systematic and careful hunting. The dense foliage, natural energy and sprawling dark thickets of the Senju forest gave it a prehistoric vitality sometimes more like a jungle.  

Ningyo wasn't worried as much about the mission, as the impression she might make on a superior. But these sentiments mingled with Ningyo's confidence that she would learn from watching a more experienced shinobi.

When the older shinobi arrived Ningyo realized it was Airi Ohara, the legendary Leaf Hyuuga. Ningyo recognized that she either was once Kage, or the student of the Kage, Ningyo wasn't exactly sure. Either way, she was rumored to be at least Kage level in power, and a well known personality in Leaf Village, surrounded in mystery.

This wasn't what Ningyo expected when she was informed that she was going to be missioning with a Jounin, nevertheless, she bowed respectfully and introduced herself, finding her composure. "Ningyo Uchiha." she would report dutifully.

Ningyo would become attentive and receptive to Airi's movements and orders, if any. She would fall into formation behind Airi and marshal all of her discipline to present herself as a studious, capable, and exemplary Genin.

Ningyo would track the wild boars with Airi, making her way through the forest by leaping silently from tree limb to tree limb. She would let the senior shinobi take the lead and Ningyo would compliment in the support capacity. She would try to exhibit categorically impressive form and operations procedure.

Once they made contact with the boars Ningyo would prepare, loading kunai into her hands with a spring loaded holster. She would aim for boars further afield, allowing Airi to engage the frontline. Judging the boars movement she would let fly piercing kunai that would whir making a trajectory through the air before burrowing deeply into the neck eyes or other vital areas of the boar. Hopping to another tree limb she would shoot another kunai from her hand in mid-air, continuing her ranged assault on the boars. She would try to compliment and arrange her attacks in rhythm with Airi, careful to keep the bukijutsu strikes out of her way.

Ningyo seemed to anticipate her more experienced partners commands, tossing her kunai with well coordinated and lethal movements. She watched as Airi quickly loaded her bow which seemed to glisten slightly and shoot several arrows clean through the staggered boars and their children, mounting them to the trees. Ningyo attempted to coordinate her ranged attacks with Airi, threading in kunai amongst the arrows at the group of boars. Such speed thought Ningyo.

She acknowledged the command to scatter and instinctively took this to mean that she should pursue the boars that had attempted to flee. Kicking off of an aerial perch among the treetop branches, Ningyo descended. using the impaled corpse of a boar as a ledge she jumped towards a fleeing razorback and threw a kunai attached to a wire. The wired kunai gently curved back towards Ningyo as it wrapped around a tree, while suddenly jerking as the wire wound tight against the chest of the hog, catching it against the bare tree trunk. Ningyo finished with a quick and merciful slash across the creatures exposed throat.

She leapt in another direction, following another wild boar, squealing and running for freedom. Sorry little guy thought Ningyo as she dashed above and behind it from the emerald canopy above, deftly and precisely throwing two kunai into the nape of it's neck, sending it collapsing and sliding into it's death.

Ningyo finished up and returned back to Airi, she purveyed the carnage and recollected any salvageable supplies. Looking down she reached into a boars neck, placing her foot on it's head for some added leverage she retrieved the kunai lodged in the spinal vertebrae with a gruesome crack.

She even played the part of the squire, helping to retrieve Airi's arrows. As she unglued the bowels and gore away from the shaft, she noticed the simple elegance in craftsmanship of these particular arrows. Ningyo wasn't accustomed to handling such quality gear. She quickly handed them to Airi in deference Skills and pro gear, she made it look easy she thought. She would assumed that after the boars were dead it would be time to head back, but she would wait for prompting from her team leader.

Ningyo wondered to herself at the size of a forest with no end to animals. She considered the implication. Was the village going overboard on killing the animal life? As she and Airi were making their way back to the village she would ask her, "Do you think we are doing the right thing by killing all these animals?" she asked curiously at the risk of sounding insubordinate. It did seem like there were an awful lot shinobi running missions exterminating the wildlife, from what Ningyo could tell. At the very least maybe she could make some small talk this way.

Regardless, Ningyo fulfilled her duties without hestitation, trusting that Konoha Command knew best about the ethical questions and mangagement of the wild animal populations. Ningyo jumped from tree limb to tree limb alongside Airi, unconsciously studying her experienced movements and techniques.

Airi mentioned that she had been in coma for a year. Ningyo wondered what happened, probably another one of the hazards of shinobi life. Ningyo could only imagine the danger at an Ace like Airi's level. High levels had to stay at the top of their game constantly, it was good she was recovering so well. When they were finished Ningyo smiled and gave her a thumbs up.

For their first mission together they seemed to get along out of combat and have great dynamics in the mission. Airi also wasn't racist towards Ningyo for being an Uchiha, something that younger Hyuuga sometimes did, as Uchiha was supposedly a less noble bloodline to Hyuuga, who were obsessed with bloodline purity, and rumored to be sometimes incestuous. Just being around Airi shed a light on the results more training could give, to see super-human abilities firsthand was inspiring.

Airi said she would rather do right by the village than spare the boars. She talked about her patriotism. "Oh yes, I suppose it is good for the country to kill them." said Ningyo. Putting it into perspective, Ningyo didn't really mind too much about killing the boars.

Airi mentioned bringing them to Konoha and maybe donating them to a restaurant. The thought of dragging them back didn't seem very exciting. "We don't have to bring home the bacon, how about we just head back and cash our checks?" she said and smiled.

Ningyo would turn on her heels to head back, jumping into the dense overhead, she began to cover the distance back to the village.
