[D-rank mission] Apprehension Empty [D-rank mission] Apprehension

    Mission:

Ningyo stopped by the mission board near administration on her way to the gym. She saw a few Jounin level soldiers in between missions, drinking some sports drink. She knew that the missions she did would end up on her file on in the Kage's office, and wondered if a few D-Rank missions wouldn't hurt. She generally considered most of these D-rank missions to be a waste of time. But missions were missions and could maybe get her a chance to get some action in the field.

One in particular stood out to her, "Catch Junkies". This didn't look like the typical Tom Sawyer and dog catching stuff offered to Genin. She tore the ticket off of the wall. Apparently a convenience store had been knocked over by thieves that were thought to be addicts. She went to the kiosk and silently applied for the mission, receiving a scroll. She stuck the scroll in her pocket, and set out for some detective work.

She decided to take it by the numbers, heading to the convenience store in Konoha's ghetto. She wondered that there was a drug problem in Konoha at all. certainly if the village wanted to they could completely eliminate the drug trade, right? The only people who could operate drug trafficking operations under the nose of the qualified shinobi were village shinobi themselves.

She decided she didn't want to ask too many questions. She reached the convenience store and the owner seemed irritated that they had set a child to process his complaint. He annoyedly explained that the addicts had came in smashing stuff up and just walked out with several cases of beer. Apparently it was a regular occurrence and the shop owners wanted something done. Ningyo listened, her hands in her pockets, mentally taking note of his description. The store owner told her that they were usually active shoplifting from stores in this neighborhood. "I can't believe they sent a kid, what do we pay all these taxes to the shinobi for?"  In the end he thanked Ningyo for her time and offered her a free soda which she declined. "Anyway I really hope you are able to catch these guys."

She left the convenience store and stepped into an alley. She chakra climbed her way up the wall and stood on the roof. Once on the roof she looked around at the street below. She hopped from a electric pole to another rooftop crouching she looked through the pedestrians below.

There was no clear way to determine who was a junkie and who was not, from this distance. She navigated her way stealthily to a high perch, where she could keep an eye out on a cluster of different merchants. Then she began her stakeout. Like a gargoyle, she kept watch for a few hours as the sun shifted in the sky.

If the junkies didn't strike soon the shops would close and she would miss them for today. Had she tipped them off by sitting up here? She swung her leg from her perch nervously, shaking her head. Suddenly she saw a group of hooded sweatshirt wearing 20 something men with black beanies, the excess bunched long at the top. They had pink and black rings around their eyes and smoked a shared cigarette. Were these the perps? She waited, squinting her eyes to focus on the group to see if they matched the description.

The thugs turned into a liquor store. She leap over to the roof of the liquor store. A few minutes later the junkies came running out of the store causing a commotion. Ningyo leaped from rooftop to rooftop, keeping apace with the targets below. Her spring loaded kunai loader clicked a wire threaded kunai into her hand. Gaining some ground on the junkies she threw the kunai down towards a wall below. The wire tripped a fast running thief and two bottles of vodka came smashing onto the pavement.

Ningyo jumped down to street level, wielding a military grade crossbow. "Freeze!" She shouted. The hoodlums looked shocked and pivoted to run in the opposite direction. As the one closest to her began running away she fired a crossbow bolt through his calf. He slammed instantly to the ground and screamed in agony, his face clenched as he reached toward his pierced leg. "Oh God!" he cried. "What the Fuck?!?"

Ningyo quickly kneeled down to restrain the first junkie, tying metal wire several times around his wrists and legs. She ran forward to catch up with the final junkie who was turning the corner down the block. "Stop!" she said. She used a shunshin from a stationary position rocketing past the leg maimed junkie bleeding on the sidewalk. She figured those two would stay put for now.

She caught up to the sprinting thief making up the distance of a few blocks as he tried unsuccessfully to outmaneuver Ningyo. "Stop now!" she said authoritatively. The young addict, with nothing left to lose, threw a bottle of liquor that shattered on the sidewalk and turning around, pulled out a switchblade and slashed wildly.

The junkie took two clumsy slashes before Ningyo deflected the knife out of the attackers hand with her own kunai and manipulated his wrist sending him to the ground. She made him put his hands behind his back and with a whirring sound pulled out some wire which she used to tie his hands and legs and then cut the wire with her kunai.

A Chuunin on guard work chewing some gum dropped a few minutes later by to make a report and take them to a holding cell. He gave her a thumbs up and winked.
