Purifying The Bloodline [FLASHBACK, HANA]

Commotion roared, voices were raised, yet the voices sounded happy. They had a joy in their voice, all while Hanabi’s eyes filled with water, her mother holding her from behind. Hanabi’s eyes looked at the hand that laid barely open, a dark crimson red pool of blood had steeped into the floorboards of the room, a lifeless man laying on the ground with dried tears that went down to his ear. His black hair had been messed up and tainted red with the dried blood, his black eyes seemingly grey. Mina held her daughter close, crying softly, begging Hanabi to look away yet her warm amber eyes could not leave her fathers face. No light showed within his eyes, leaving a cold and chilling feeling run down Hanabi’s back.


“He’s dead! Take the mutt and the wife!”


The voices grew louder with the distant banging on the door growing loud with the sound of the door breaking into pieces shortly after. The world around Hanabi went slow, her mother being grappled from behind, her hands slowly leaving Hanabi’s body, screaming to get them off. “RUN HANABI!” Mina cried out, yet it was processing so slow for her. She remained staring at the lifeless body, Mina gradually being taken away, slowly but surely. Hands that Hanabi didn’t recognize, wrapped around her, dragging her along, her body going with it, yet her eyes never leaving her father. ‘Why..’ When his body left her sight; she felt her head slowly turn to the man that dragged her away, her eyes blinking slowly, not understanding anything.

There's a great deal of raucous cacophony for a while, much whipping and screaming and gnashing of teeth as Mina is attacked, beaten and bruised and all manner of assault besides, but the crowd rapidly begins to quiet, from the rear of the crowd towards the middle, like a ripple suddenly stilling a violent wake in a pond. Striding forwards are two family members of the clan leader and one of the Hokage of the era, though their family relation was somewhat too distant to make them fully aristocratic; the Uchiha power couple of Hizishi Uchiha and his wife Koutou Uchiha. The mother, the actual royal of their partnership, had apparently been roused from her slumber by the loud "party", but despite both adults looking as though they'd just come from their beds at near midnight, there was still an aura of grace and beauty about them as the mob parts for them, until Koutou in the lead sees the sight of Mina bloody and bruised on the ground with Hanabi a few feet away; with the press of bodies against them both, it had likely felt like the distance was far greater. The royal turns her nose up at them both and turns away from them to address the crowd.

"I see you have killed the fool Uchiha that had seen fit to dilute our blood with some foul bitch! This is certainly an improvement. However, you may not kill either of these two."

The crowd begins an uproar, but Koutou silences them with a harsh wave of her hand, causing her dark black night robe to billow, and the crimson red of her eyes flashing instantly and immediately halts any further thoughts of betrayal.

"Killing one of our own foolish clan is one thing, that's simply clan business. If we kill members of the Inuzuka clan, that kind of information spreads outside the village. It would put our station in Konoha at risk. Do not misunderstand me; use the disgusting mutt as you see fit, but do not kill her."

Despite her harsh words, her tone is even; the words "bitch" and "mutt" have just as much emotion in them as stating that the killing of one of the Uchiha was simply a matter of clan business. These words were stated with the cold harshness of someone stating facts, without malicious intent.

It was somehow even more monstrous than if she had made her statements with disgust and malediction.

There's a small, pink-haired girl, about the same age as Hanabi, peeking out between Hizishi's legs at the gruesome sight, but the fear in her eyes betrays her emotions; she has no idea what's going on, but she knows she doesn't like it. Neither of her parents notice, and then Koutou begins to walk away, leading her other two family members away from the crowd, as they begin to gather once more; the calm of the storm had passed, but now the real hurricane was approaching.

Mina would cry out, her her voice straining her vocal chords. With a familiar voice arising, her eyes would look up, glancing to Koutou. “Damn you! You wench! Nobody killed him, he killed himself because you turned your back on him!” She hit the ground as she was hit once more, her yell turning into a sharp scratchy like scream. Hanabi watched it happen, unable to react, almost as if she wasn’t even there mentally. Her eyes seem to be faded out, looking off in the distance. Mina made a tight fist as she was held to the ground, hands feeling her up, her yells becoming breathy, trying to get away. “Get OFF ME! YOU PERVERTS!” She’d kick one of the men, glancing to Koutou, standing up and baring her fangs. Hanabi had taken on the exact looks of Mina, looking almost like a carbon copy. Nobody knew if Hanabi would even unlock Her sharingan, completely disregarding Her as an Uchiha entirely.

Mina would listen to Koutou, gritting her teeth before letting her head drop, along with her knees to the floor, holding back her cries. “Do what you want with me, just. Don’t kill Hanabi!” She cried out, begging to be saved all while keeping her child alive. Maybe letting them kill her would’ve been fine, maybe even easier for Hanabi as she wouldn’t have had to grow up in a harsh environment. While Mina pleaded, begging and on her knees, Hanabi’s lifeless stare looked over to a pink haired girl, staring cautiously, looking afraid. Hanabi’s eyes began to turn back to normal, almost regaining consciousness before fading back out, hearing the commotion once again.

Koutou stops in her steps when the woman curses at her and calls her a wench, and most of the other Uchiha clan members can see her facial expression twist into rage, but her face becomes completely empty of emotion again when she turns towards the Inuzuka with a swiftness that causes her robes to spin as well, clearly intent on making the woman regret her words personally, but with Mina begging to let Hanabi live, she gets an even more horrible idea, one she wouldn't have even accepted for herself.

"All of you halt! Very well, then, if you make an offer, I'll make a counter-offer. If you disown Hanabi as your daughter, you'll receive protection as though you were an Uchiha yourself. We Uchiha have ways of making someone disappear and make it appear to be an accident easy enough; we need very little genjutsu to convince others for long enough that they even forget an Inuzuka even existed, let alone that one was murdered. You can die an Inuzuka, or thrive as an Uchiha; but first, you have to disown the mutt. Do we have a deal?"

Despite her phrasing, as though the offer was a business arrangement, she doesn't extend her hand for a handshake. Some part of Koutou apparently wants to hear the woman verbally disown her own daughter in order to save her own skin, quite literally. At least the Uchiha didn't seem to want to touch Hanabi in that way. They might have been monsters, but they certainly weren't that inhuman.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Koutou or Hizishi, Neo was making eye contact with Hanabi and feeling something for the first time. Fear, but not for herself or even for her immediate family, but fear for a stranger, and sadness because she didn't quite know what was going on, but she knew that whatever was happening was bad. But she also knew her mother's wrath, although not directly. She'd seen the punishments she'd mete out among some of the lesser Uchiha, when she was allowed to do so, and Neo was beginning to also feel disgust towards her mother for treating a girl nearly her own age this way, taking away her mommy. This wasn't right, but she knew her own mother would toss her in if she spoke up or threw a fit right now, so she could only feel tears gathering in her eyes as she saw Hanabi's strange, expressionless face.

Mina glanced to the woman, her head low but her eyes looking up to Koutou. Her bright golden eyes would look to her daughter who remained emotionless, almost as if she wasn’t really there. She would grit her teeth and push herself up, pushing others off as well, grunting and shaking them off. “Fine.” She would look to her daughter and gritted her teeth, closing her eyes but opening them again to let tears fall down her face. “Hana.. Mommy has to go, okay? It will be better for you.. if I wasn’t your mother..” She would crouch down and caress her cheek one last time before standing up and turning to Koutou. “Don’t hurt her.” She would bare her fangs that she possessed to the Uchiha and walk to their side, distancing herself from Hanabi.


Hanabi wouldn’t understand not really remember any of this. Her memory began to get foggy but from then on, it seemed like it was the end of a family and the start of something new. Something worse. The Uchiha would go back on their word about not hurting Hanabi and she would be susceptible to punishment and slave like uses. However, the small girl seemed to have caught Hanabi’s attention, remembering her face throughout the years like a flip show. Her face changing into older versions of her. Hanabi would stay within this abuse for 17 years until she managed to get out and enroll in the academy where she wouldn’t know much of anything except her own family.

Koutou gives Mina a mirthless smile when the Inuzuka agrees to the terms of the agreement, a smile with even more malice than a frown might give. She allows Mina to speak to the mutt one last time, then gives out a shrill, loveless laugh at the request not to hurt the inferior half-breed.

"What do you care? She's not your daughter after all, Mina Uchiha."

Koutou turns her back on Hanabi as the other Uchiha crowd around her, just as the clan itself has turned its back on Hanabi. But, like a perfect mirror, Neo never turns away nor turns her back to Hanabi, so much so that her father has to pick her up and carry her instead, and she watches over her daddy's shoulder, crying for the strange girl and not understanding this violence at all, only knowing that what happened this night was wrong, and that she could never love the clan as long as it did this to others.

And for seventeen years, the only thing on Neo's mind was to make sure nothing could happen like this night, ever again. There is no love in her heart for an Uchiha Clan that thought these actions had any justification.
