Ren would grit his teeth as he looked down at the letter in his hand, why him? He asked himself as he reread the message again, trying to find some way out of this. He was hoping that he was going to be able to spend the day resting indoors after all the training he had been doing, however it seems as though the village had other plans in mind. It would appear that the postal service required assistance delivering its various packages, which of course the male would find odd considering he had received these instructions to report to the postal services building without a problem. Of course, it was by messenger pigeon, still why couldn't the rest of the mail be delivered in the same way and fashion? Why did his day have to be ruined, still it wasn't like he was doing it for free, the village was going to pay him for his work. It just seemed as through, there could be better use of his time than delivering mail as his first task assigned by the village in his new role as Genin. though it was not his place to reason why, he was simply meant to serve and die. Ren would let out a sigh as he began getting dressed, "Well, looks like today is going to be a long day."
Ren would look into the mirror on his way out of his bedroom, taking a moment to run his fingers through his hair before messing it up again as he headed out the door. Ren would be wearing his usual attire of a black skintight shitagi underneath a midnight-blue kisode which bears a small symbol of the Uchiha clan on the back of its collar, his all black hakama are tied down tight to his ankles with tight bands rather than allowed it to be free flowing to allow for easier stealth, with a black obi and black jika-tabi to finish it off. His look made complete by his all black Haori, which bears a larger symbol of the Uchiha Clan on the middle of the back of it. He was a proud Uchiha and wore their symbol with honor, his clan had been part of this village since the beginning and has had more members of the clan become hokage over the generations than any other clan in history. To say his goal was to be hokage though would be a lie, his goal was not so self-centered, or at least he did not believe it to be. Ren only wanted to return the Uchiha to the state of power it once held during the Scarlet Empire, of course he wanted to be the one that lead his clan to this time of power, he would settle with following a deserving Uchiha to achieve that goal considering he did not view himself as much of a leader in the first place. These thoughts would pass in and out of the male's mind as he walked towards the postal service building, and as he got closer, he promised himself that one day he would make a name for himself and never again be forced to do such a job as mundane as this.
Ren had been hoping for a mission for a few days now, though this was not at all what he was expecting. He was hoping for something that would be exciting, or even maybe a little dangerous. Of course, the village wasn't going to give a mission like that to a new Genin, those were reserved for shinobi who have made a contribution to the village already. Those that have proven themselves capable of preforming the job and so that is what he needed to do, he would just have to do every job they threw at him until they finally realized that he could do so much more and gave him better jobs. As Ren opened the door to the postal service building, his semi-enthusiasm and optimism would go out the window. Before him stood mountains of packages and envelops, hundreds upon hundreds of pieces of mail all waiting to be delivered to their recipient. Ren's face would fall even further as he looked throughout the building, and it was nearly completely empty, making it all the way to the back of the postal service building before finally finding someone. There in the back room would stand three individuals all of which were sorting and stacking various pieces of mail and packages. "Um, excuse me. I am Ren Uchiha reporting for Mail Delivery duty." the male would say, his voice straining with the words as well as fighting the urge to say he did not want to be here, but it was forced, and instead chose to smile at the group before him. The men did not even look up to acknowledge the young Uchiha, one of them would just move his hand around in a gesturing motion saying, "well what are you waiting for? grab a pile and go, this stuff isn't going to deliver itself." before going back to his sorting. 'I wish it delivered itself, cuz then I wouldn't even have to be here.' Ren would think to himself as he walked over to a pile of letters and packages, picking them up before heading out the door to go on the delivery route.
Ren would grumble to himself as he walked the streets of Konohagakure, the sun was far too bright for the male's liking but like this mission there was nothing he could do other than try to push through it in hopes that he will never have to do it again. Stopping at the first house on the list, Ren would knock on the door waiting for someone to answer considering he had to get their signature to prove he delivered the packages to the right houses and didn't get them mixed up or just thrown into the sewer or something. As the door to the first house would open, Ren would greet them with the biggest fake smile of his life. "Good morning citizen, it is truly a lovely day is it not. I have a package here for you, if you would be so kind as to sign this document." The man that opened the door would stare blankly back at Ren before taking the clipboard and paper and signing his name to it, at which point Ren would hand the man a box as well as four letters that were all addressed to him before taking his leave and heading to the next house on his list. No matter how much it pained the male, he had to at least pretend to be a happy normal person, even though he really hated talking to people. There would be no answer at the second house, and while he would have liked nothing better than to just leave the mail on the porch of the house, he could not do that. He had to get their signature as proof, otherwise if he were to leave the mail on the porch and someone stole it, the person could file a report saying that it was never delivered and then he would get in trouble. So, he decided he would carry that house's mail with him, returning at a later time to see if anyone was home then. If not then he would have to simply take the items back to the postal services, and someone else can try tomorrow. The third house he would be greeted by a young woman that couldn't be much older than Ren, which would cause him to spend more time on her porch talking to her than he would have normally. Though talking might not be the right word, it was more like he spent the next thirty minutes flirting with the woman before even giving her the clipboard to sign. As he took the clipboard back, he would just look at what she wrote before looking back to her, “Aurora, what a lovely name. It was a pleasure meeting you, Aurora.” Ren stated with a smile as he turned to leave, “I hope to see you again.” he would add with a wink before heading down the walkway and back to the street to continue his delivery of the parcels so he could be done with this nonsense. Dealing with the last seven houses on the list rather quickly, the young Uchiha would soon find himself back at the Postal Services Building.
"What do you mean I have more to deliver, I delivered my share now sign my paperwork so I can be done." Ren nearly shouted at the man as he fumed from anger at the situation, all of this over the fact that the person from the second house wasn't home and so he didn't deliver the package. "Look kid it's like I said either you take out another group of packages, or you deliver that one and then I will sign your paperwork and pay you." The tall old, bearded gentleman looked down at Ren from behind the desk with a glaring look that said he was not going to budge on the matter. With a defeated sigh Ren would place the undelivered package on the desk and hold up his empty hand, "I'll take the second set please." the male stated in a low voice with his head hung low, he couldn't believe he was going to have to go deal with more people but it was better than waiting for someone to come home as he did not know who the person was or when they would be home, it could be hours or even days and he wasn't willing to take the gamble. The old man behind the desk would grin at Ren's words and hand him a large stack of several envelops, "here you go, 74 letters ready for delivery." the mans stated with a chuckle. "You have got to be kidding me, why so many." Ren asked with his mouth hung open, the old man would chuckle again. "Relax kid, the letters are easier. Unlike the packages, you don't need a signature. just make sure to drop them in the right mail slot and go." the old man stated as he handed Ren the map of the route, looking it over it was plan to Ren that this was going to take him nearly all day to complete even if he was moving as fast as he could the entire time. He began thinking he made the wrong choice and should have stuck with the package, but almost as if the old man was reading his thoughts, he removed the package from the desk taking it into another room. With another sigh, Ren would grip the bundle of letters tightly and head to the door of the building. The quicker he got this over with, the quicker he would be able to go home and get some sleep. The day was only half gone but he was already exhausted beyond belief.
Making his way back from the government buildings to the residential district, Ren would begin delivering along the new route. Though it would seem that the postmaster was correct, and it would be faster than the packages, considering he did not have to knock on doors or talk to anyone. All Ren had to do was walk up and place the letters in the mail slots, easy as pie. Despite the quickness to the deliver, it would still take the male several hours to complete his task as there were great distance between some of the houses on this route. The sun would be setting as he returned a second time to the Postal Services Building, entering the government office Ren would approach the man behind the desk and give him a glaring look at the old man as he spoke. "I am done, now can I please get paid?" The old man simply chuckled before handing Ren a slip of parchment, "there you go kid. Take that next door and they will see that you get paid, thank you for your help." The man would say with a nod to Ren before turning his attention back to the papers on his desk, Ren would quietly take his leave heading next door to claim his payment for his work.
