She frowned a bit as he turned her down. Right, she was Yasu. Not Dahlia. Dahlia probably could have taught him much… She gripped ehr book a bit tighter. If only Dahlia could actually be of use to anyone that is… Dahlia was just some brat who cared but never could function enough to show it. Yasu could show it. But she lacked the skills to act upon it.
“Yeah… I get it. Super secret stuff…” There always were secret things… Things that those who knew them never believed she could understand for one reason or another; she supposed not being the right bloodline hurt a little less as for reasons. “Well if you ever change your mind-....”She paused with parted lips and the grip on her book loosened a bit. As did the strength in her eyes.
“... I guess I could teach you math. Or some stupid theoredical work that I can assure you no one would really care about.” She said as her voice lowered a bit almost in defeat.
Maybe it was good for him that he stayed inside… After all a bird that’s seen the world only suffocates further as the memories of the world haunt them from their cage. Her finger started to tap a little on her book as she felt the walls of the building tower over her in her mind. Being caged up after you know about the world was probably the worst part about being trapped. Her tapping continued as imaginary faceless people slowly came into the corners of her vision staring her down. The ceiling twistign in on itself along with her ribs threatening to suffocate her.
And all you can do is run to the only familiar place you can to avoid the eyes.
The mocking.
The laughing.
Never able to do everything you know you can do as the panic sets in.
With predators all around you.
With walls to threaten to swallow you whole as you desperately swim to the surface hoping; begging for air.
When you know you can only find small gasps of it to barely stay alive.
Everything turned back to normal as she heard the apology. A little bit of cold sweat was on her brow. Her finger tapped like crazy before she stopped it. She tried to focus on the silly image of a big fluffy cat making her smirk a little.
“Sounds huggable.” She said with a little bit of lightness to her voice.
She set the book down on the table brushing her hair from her face a bit. Her heart was still going crazy. How could it not. Last time she was in a building this long was during the pretest to the Chunin exams knowledge course her old team leader had managed to get ehr and her team into… the one ehr frantic behavior led them to get kicked out… and the fight between ehr and her team… If it hadn’t been for her teacher… they all would have easily torn each other apart… or at least the other two would have come out maimed and she likely worse on the 2 v 1.
God she hated being inside these buildings. She tried to focus on him and the task at hand. And his statement that she had been scary. Something that made her let out a slight single laugh through her nose. She had never gotten scared before… She honestly kind of enjoyed the change of someone not finding her a joke and actually scary for once… She’d never say it out loud though. That sort of thing would have likely been looked down on if any of her family or Tengoku heard about it.
After all ninja were supposed to save, not scare.. And she needed to be the best ninja she could be… Or at least Dahlia did. Her brows lifted a bit with a bit of light hitting her eyes when he said she seemed pretty cool. Even if it was a compliment for Yasu, someone made to be what anyone wanted her to be… the sentiment still made her feel better. Even if it was only a little. After all, she had never been called cool before. She pursed her lips a bit, shaking her head.
“Thanks and… never be ashamed of knowing when to recognize your fear. It’ll save your life one day you know? Just don’t let it control you.” She offered half from her own experiences, and half from what she thought she could guess the boy might need to hear.
She didn’t know if it was the right thing to say but… she trusted Yasu. Yasu after all had given Dahlia the chance to feel a few things she hadn't been able to feel before. Yasu… the scary, yet caring… Yeah. She could get behind that. Her eyes grew serious when he said that he believed he was in trouble. Honestly… she wished she had been wrong about that one. She raised a brow a bit at him stating he was a bit blind.
She leaned in a bit taking in the information. The village and his home could be seen as so dangerous he had thought of hospitalizing himself. There was also a man named Renny who was targeting him. He was smart to think of a safe place to go but seemingly one without proper escape… Typical of a building. It's largely why she hated them so much. So in essence.. He was being hunted. She couldn’t take him to Tengoku as Yasu. But Yasu knew some Ninja tricks. He could clearly still read despite what he said about his blindness.
She patted herself down before pulling out a pencil. She motioned for his book then. If he passed it to her she started to write out in between the margins the Hiding in shadows technique, how to learn and practice it, and its advantages. It was just a C - Rank Ninjutsu so he should have no problem learning it as a ninja.. Even a fresh out of the academy child could learn it with enough practice.
“Pages 23 and 24 learn them. If they can sense chakra it won’t help much, but if not you won't be totally screwed.” She flipped through the pages then when she found a new chapter page she used the extra white space to sketch out a rough map of the village and outer forest with some arrows and written out directions in between the margins of the next few pages.
“Pages 75 to 78 memorize them. You said you’re good at running? Good. If he comes for you, run. Use pages 23 and 24 as much as you can while you do so. It’ll help give you an edge. Stick high and to the shadows.”She flipped some more pages. She knew yasu should know as much as she was giving now but… her secret was less important then his safety. She couldn’t physically help him… and her plans had either fallen short due to her inability to think in the past, or outright ignored… but. But she had faith in her skills of planning.
“If you hear big ass wolves head for them. I heard the Hokage hangs around the area my directions should lead you to. From what I heard he has dire wolves, and loves to show off in front of young genin…. And that he can be trusted.” She paused before writing out in the next pages the Genjutsu Kai technique just in case he didn’t already know it as an Uchiha.
“Pages 90 and 91 should help you if they attack you mentally. No matter what you need to think logically… and if you think you are in a Genjutsu use this. You may spring it and waste some Chakra if you misinterpret something thinking it's a Genjutsu but it's better then going along with a really good Genjutsu thinking everything is real…. Or so I’ve heard.”She closed it and slid it back to him, putting the pencil away.
“Look… I’m no one's hero. But I do care what happens to good people. Please keep yourself safe… Go to the Hokage if you must. Run to another town, anything… Just stay alive.” She took a deep breath before standing up.
“Also. When you’re being followed… If you have to go into a building do yourself a favor and always keep track of the exits, and always have 3 escape plans and spots ready. For now. We should leave the library. It has 3 ways out, the main entrance and the back entrance that's only for the staff, and finally… the window. Which is a bit tricky to get through sometimes. So not a good place to stay when you're being followed… but I suppose it's good since there's always many eyes on you. However the market place would be far better if you want to use that method of high population.”She walked toward the window and opened it up. Fresh air… the best air. She then looked back at him then shrugged.
“Simple math you know? And I know you didn’t ask me to teach you any buuut I felt the need.” She pointed her thumb towards the window.
“So… you wanna come with..? Or are you feeling safe on your own?”She asked genuinely. She didn’t know his skill set so she couldn’t assume he’d be safer on his own or not. But she still had to ask. Even if she wasn’t Dahlia, she still had to try her best to help someone in need who seemed like they deserved the help.
