For weeks, cries of anguish could be heard resonating through the abandoned caverns, inhuman shrieks followed by roars of rage almost shook the mountain to it's core. Those few hunters who often moved through the area had avoided it altogether after hearing of the cries of the mountain. The already desolate area had become devoid of most life, save for the few foolish creatures of the mountain who dared to venture out of curiosity. A monster had lived in these caverns for some weeks now, killing anything that came within it's monstrous reach, sucked into the abyss of the mountain, never to be seen again. This creature's flesh was humanlike, save for the many scars that covered it's body, countless battles tanning it's hide into a disfigured form. It's hair was long and white, wild and unruly. It's eye was missing, giving way to a lone single eye in the darkness, yellow like the full moon, it's teeth constantly bared to scare off anything that got in it's sights.
This creature was Seigi Douchiwa, or Seigi Chinoike, depending on who was in control.
A large seal had been drawn on Seigi's chest, carved into his flesh by his own hand. One more section of line and it would be complete, but the battle for Seigi's body had never been more intense. Seigi had brought himself here after the war had ended, to isolate himself until he could get some kind of control. On the battlefield, he had almost died again, and a whole new world had been opened up to him, or perhaps "worlds" was a better term. He had learn of The Crossroads, a point between dimensions, of his promise to Seigi Chinoike to let him take over once he was close to death, and Chinoike's refusal to give control back to Seigi. What had ensued was instead a months-long battle between the two, each one staving for control of Seigi's body. Somehow, inbetween his bouts of losing control, Seigi had developed a seal to stabilize Chinoike and reseal his soul, still in Seigi's body, but unable to take control any longer. He had felt the hatred within the man's heart, how he blamed Kirigakure for what had happened to him, how we wanted to destroy their village from the inside out. Unsure if he was Raikage any longer, and more concerned with holding Chinoike back more than anything else, Seigi's concerns were for the rest of the ninja world, not just Kumogakure. In the end, Chinoike's arrogance would be the cause of Kumogakure's downfall. Seigi had to prevent that from happening at all cost.
Exiling himself to the mountains had been a monumental task in itself, with Chinoike trying to stop him at every avenue. Getting him lost in the abandoned caverns had been Seigi's first bout of luck, knowing that miles upon miles of caverns beneath the earth's surface were the grave to many expolorers. His second bout of luck was being able to draw the seal on his chest, only able to do it in small sections. There were two other seals on his body that he had carved that were failed and flawed, either by his own hand, or by Chinoike's. He was lashing out even harder now that he knew he was about to be sealed away again.
Seigi would bang his head on the wall, causing a small dribble of blood to leak down his nose. It only took seconds for it to heal, a gift from his Uzumaki implant, but the blood that remained would drip down his nose, onto the ground below.
"If you seal me away, you'll never know Kumogakure's secrets!" Chinoike would yell out, only for Seigi to take control quickly.
"I've gotta do this now." He would mutter to nobody in particular, a blue glow of chakra emanating from his left trigger fingertip. In a quick motion, he would carve a small section away at the seal, closing the circle for good. There was no miraculous glow, no explosion of chakra, simply silence. Collapsing to the floor, Seigi would sigh.
"There's no way it's that easy... it's never that easy." He would say out loud, looking around the cavern to the bodies of small animals that had kept them alive for the last couple of weeks, and the remnants of explorers who had once wandered these caves. Having ditched his robes, he plundered the skeletons and found a usable set of pants and boots. Once setup, he would retrace his steps through the caverns. Unbeknownst to Chinoike, when he had come down here the first time, he had left himself marks on certain stalagtites to lead him back out. Once he found his path, he would simply take it out of the caverns, emerging from the cave like a tomb. The sun hurt his eyes and the wind on his skin felt odd, but he was here and he was alive. With Kumogakure far in the distance, Seigi would begin the long trek home.
