“Fujikawa? You can enter now.” She pulled the door open, stepped in and smiled, her headband proudly wrapped around her forehead to show her allegiance. It was a rare occurrence that she wore her head band so prominently (she often either did not wear it or wore it under her other clothing) for to her it seemed rather foolish to so openly state one’s allegiance. She was a Shinobi after all. Subterfuge was one of their key skills.
“Hello everybody. As I am sure your teacher has informed you, I am Fujikawa Setsuko. A Genin who graduated from last year's class rather recently. My skill set included medical jutsu, summoning jutsu and chemistry. My presence has been requested here in order to educate all of you on some of the more practical skills demanded by the life of a Shinobi.” Fujikawa had failed to mention that she was, to be honest, a rather inexperienced ninja in terms of missions but luckily the mortality rates for shinobi squads backed her up on the importance of first aid.
“As such, I will be talking all of you through basic first aid practices. The most important of all medical methodology is preparation. It is highly unlikely any of you will develop the aptitude and chakra control for medical jutsu and as such, the best all of you can do, especially if you learn any medical jutsu, is to pack adequate supplies. Splints, sutures, bandages, antiseptics, painkillers, anti-inflammatories. These supplies can and WILL save the lives of your comrades across multiple battlegrounds, so always ensure you bring them with you.”
She turned her back to the class and in one elegant motion, wrote down a series of numbers paired with crude drawings of the medical supplies. Fujikawa would swiftly turn back to the rather bored and disinterested looking class. She sighed internally, resisting the compulsion to scowl or challenge the students for their apathy. It was understandable that all of this medical advice was not what the class wanted to see.
“I urge all of you to write this list of items and their quantities down. It is a functional base amount of medical supplies to treat the most common battlefield injuries while still being easy to transport. Using them is rather easy too. Splints are used to hold broken, or otherwise damaged, bones straight while taking the weight off the limb. Bandages are to be tightly wrapped around bleeding wounds or other exposed wounds. Anti-inflammatories are designed specifically to reduce inflammation; painkillers are for handling pain and antibiotics fight off infection.”
“However, these are all highly dangerous and can cause more harm than good if issued in the incorrect dosage and as such, we will not be going over their usage in any greater detail today. The academy does have beginner friendly texts available for those who wish to learn more.” And she had lost the students. Many of them were tuning out, whispering among themselves with their friends and just generally not paying attention.
“I see….alright then.” She clapped her hands together, a soft chuckle escaping from her lips as she decided a sudden change of lesson was in order. Clearly this medical talk was not the “super awesome cool jutsu” the muttering and distracted students desired to be introduced to and if that was the case...bahahaha... Fujikawa knew exactly what she should show them. She turned her focus towards the class’s official teacher, a knowing grin on her face.
