Stats
Unique Abilities:
Off World Advantage: Zoe starts with more 950 experience that is applied to their total. Doing this puts Zoe in debt, thus all generated experience must go towards paying off that experience debt before it can be applied anywhere else.
One-handed Seals: Zoe may weave hand seals with only one hand. This results in a one tier loss of Coordination for that hand regarding hand seals.
Chakra Drain: Zoe is capable of draining chakra from others as a natural consequence of her Otsutsuki ancestry. This UA allows her to app techniques that can drain chakra, although those techniques leave her more open to receiving damage from chakra as well.
Without using techniques, she can choose to drain 5 chakra from someone by making physical contact with them using her forearms or hands, although she has to consciously do so. This is able to be used through gloves and clothes, but does not extend to other tools or weapons.
Every time she makes contact, she can draw out chakra from a person (capped at 15 per person per post) or 15 chakra per person if she sustains contact the entire post. However, doing so opens Zoe up to increased damage (+1 rank of damage) from tangible chakra techniques for the rest of the post round. This is all elemental jutsu, and all attacks with tangible chakra, such as Chakra Flow and other such techniques. The amount that this UA allows for non technique absorption in a thread is capped at half of Zoe's base stamina cap, even if taken from multiple different people. This cannot set her over her maximum pool of chakra either.
Appearance:
Zoe is quite short at only four foot nine, her slender build accentuated by pretty and angular features. Her long blonde hair comes to knees and is cut with long bangs in the front that frame her face. Brilliant blue eyes are set against pale skin causing them to appear as a striking sapphire against a sea of wheat. Her clothing choices are eccentric and varied, as she chooses whatever suits her mood. Lace, ribbons, leather and ruffles usually make an appearance in her wardrobe and almost always she has some remnant of her life past displayed as an accessory.
History:
Located in the Large Magellanic Cloud circling the star Pama is the advanced planet named Hala. Hala was by any person’s description, beautiful. Shining towers built of glass and metal. Each building a sculpture and testament to the culture’s technological advancements; towering metallic sculptures for work and play and war. Different metals were interwoven to create a stunning and intricate artistic effect; honeycomb windows and weaving vines of light and metal. Every available surface of the planet was covered in dazzling architecture, where there wasn’t a building there were woven metal roads. Trees replaced by radio towers, lakes and rivers by segmented plates of metal meant for foot travel and the landing of the many air vehicles that constantly circled the planet and patrolled the surrounding star systems.
For millennia the people of Hala had spent their days perfecting every system and function of society, all aspects of daily life were streamlined to provide perfect efficiency and transparency. Every facet of their culture was honed into a well oiled machine, nature replaced with steel, nurture replaced with surveillance. The slow creep of technology had been met with little resistance as it had only improved the Halians daily lives. They had become an unstoppable force in their small section of the universe and their way of life was only questioned by those who were not born into it.
Zor-El was a dutiful daughter of Hala, as all children of the world were. She learned her people’s ways, spoke their language and did all that was expected of her. As with all of the planet’s inhabitants Zor-El did not know who her biological parents were. There was an elaborate progenitor material sourcing and artificial growth system in place to ensure that all Halians were considered equal. In the infancy of the planet many wars were waged as different ‘families’ believed themselves to be superior by birthright. Through time and a concerted effort to eliminate the illogical beliefs the academics of Hala began a system to engineer citizens for specific purposes. These engineered ‘Children of Light’ were raised in large groups, with no more attention being given to any one individual than the other so as not to encourage the mistaken idea that any person was more vital or special than any other.
Zor-El was engineered to be a Record Keeper - a person tasked with observing the stories of the universe and recording them for future generations. As would be expected she took to her teachings perfectly, spending her days watching through the various Palantiri, seeing stones, that allowed her people to keep a close eye on the universe and its inhabitants. However it became clear over time that on the day Zor-El had been engineered there must have been an error made in her genetic makeup. All other Record Keepers were designed to have a healthy detachment from the scenes that they viewed and recorded. Zor-El however spent her spare time daydreaming about the intriguing stories she had viewed and crafting her own stories from her fantasies.
On Hala the concept of personal space or privacy was foreign and only applied to less enlightened beings. Without the Light of Hala to guide them the ignorant masses turn to secrets and subterfuge to justify their actions. Or so it was always taught. Zor-El had begun to see a different side to that dogma. The beacon of Light that was Hala could only remain so by shining so brightly that all else fell into shadow. The so-called corruption of other cultures and the inherent weaknesses of its peoples were not just a failure to live up to the Light but rather were caused by the intensity of Hala’s judgement.
This revelation brought about a change in Zor-El that proved impossible to correct. Despite repeated attempts at retraining her, Zor-El continued to explore the many varied stories and cultures through the Palantiri, growing more and more enamored with the quaint and simple lives she viewed through one orb in particular. A place called Earth. The humans that inhabited the planet were unique in their passion and will when faced with insurmountable odds. They touched a part of Zor-El’s spirit and refused to release their hold on her heart. One fateful night after many months of planning she finally made the choice to leave Hala and its twisted ways behind. She had found out about a small group of Halians that called themselves the ‘Shadow’. With their help she had her ticket to a place that she felt she could truly call her home.
Her first step through the portal the Shadow had created for her was disorienting. The air was clean and fresh, the smell of nature was everywhere and there was no one watching. It was a strange concept to her and she spent many long days and nights simply enjoying the peace that the place provided. She had brought little with her, a few unusable trinkets from her home planet that would likely appear as little more than oddly designed jewelry. She had no real plan, other than to fit in with the humans and explore their stories with them. Her first true act was to name herself; Zoe. She knew from the Shadow that she had been transported to the Land of Water and what was known as Kirigakure, and she made her way towards the village and her new life.
Personality:
Zoe is beyond curious about the world around her. She always seeks to understand the thoughts and feelings of the people around her, seeking the hidden truth in every story she sees. She sees incredible value in the people of Earth and owing to her contrasting upbringing her goal is to not only learn the true history of the humans but to showcase it as the incredible achievement that it is.
She is deeply enamored with humans as a race, finding each action and decision any human makes something to be celebrated. Zoe is a kind person at heart, but due to her time on her home planet she occasionally struggles with the idea of ‘privacy’ or ‘tact’. She is gregarious and outgoing, always the first to the dance floor or to speak up to ease tension.
Fearless to a fault she seeks to honour the achievements of those around her, to the point of placing herself in precarious positions in order to allow the humans to succeed. Her fearlessness also includes trust, and while she is aware that her presence on Earth may not be overly appreciated by everyone, she believes in giving people the benefit of the doubt and an eternity of second chances. She is honest and expects that others are as well.
