Becoming 'The Calvalry'

Kagura was ready to get back to work.

Akari had woken up, and with her revival after nearly a month of slumber, it was like the brunette could breathe again.  But she had been out of the game for nearly a month, unable to bring herself to leave the village, despite a war starting, praying for a miracle for Akari to awaken... and her prayers had been answered.  She hadn't previously believed in anything, but when she had prayed to Fate, she had been answered.  She only hoped that it wasn't simply coincidence to put her faith in such a thing again.

But they were at war.  If she was going to ensure that Akari stayed safe while she recovered, it meant that Kagura needed to diversify her skill set.  There were two different techniques she needed the scrolls for, and she needed to quickly learn and master them so that she could start being deployed to the frontlines.  She would protect her village, her people, and the woman she loved no matter what.

And because she was the previous Hokage's Sentinel, she was granted an audience in a timely manner, thankfully.  Not many people didn't know who Kagura was, as she was one of the more prolific names, and many had wondered what happened when she was nowhere to be seen on the front lines when the war first kicked off.  She would need to make a significant impact in order to change their minds about her and instill fear in her enemies.  Standing outside the door, she was dressed in her uniform finally, sword on her hip, and knocked on the door soundly three times.  Once she was ushered inside, she would stand perfectly center in the room, hands behind her back and feet shoulderwidth apart, her body rigid.  "Kagura Ezume, reporting for our meeting, Sir."

Nyguyen looked up from his paperwork and saw the young Kagura Ezume standing before her. He knew that the girl was a student of Akari's and a fairly talented shinobi to boot. He set his work aside and leaned back in his chair.

"Kagura Ezume. You have served this village well and admirably. Your growth has been quite astonishing and I see why Akari selected you to be her primary student. Konoha has experienced a lot of instability lately and we have tried to mend that. I think Akari has made great strides in that direction and as her successor I intend to build upon her accomplishments. In order to do that, I need Jounin that are competent and able." Nyguyen got the impression he was about to launch into a long-winded lecture.  "I am hereby promoting you to the rank of Jounin"

Kagura waited patiently, listening to him list off her own accolades. Not many were entrusted with missions like buying an entire minor nation single-handedly, and even fewer still could make the trip and back in less than a week. She had been back in time for dinner the next night, having made quick work of it all. She made no mention of how Akari's training had been largely responsible for her sudden surge in strength and power. This wasn't meant to be a long and drawn-out process; even the promotion to Jounin was more of a hand-waved idea than anything. She refused to show any emotion or reaction at all at the word 'successor', even keeping her chakra in check.

The damn village moved too quickly to replace Akari, but that was above her pay grade, and she had nothing to do with it, and nothing she could do about it. It might even mean that they could go on missions and whatnot together now, and that thought was enough to make her mind settle. "Understood, Sir." Crisp and clear, waiting for her requests that she had submitted to be addressed.

Kagura's disciplined answer made Nyguyen smirk every so slighty. The woman wasn't easily flattered or buttered-up. She had that in common with Akari at least. She was probably waiting on word of her request and Nyguyen beleived her talented enough to not force her to ask. Instead, he set two scrolls down. One for Chidori and the other for Mass Shadow Clone.

"Your requests for Chidori and Mass Shadow Clone Jutsu have been approved. You may learn them but afterwards be sure to burn the scrolls so that they do not fall into enemy hands. Congratulations Kagura"

The man handed his Jounin the scrolls and began to get back to work. He didn't look up as he said:

"If there isn't anything else, you are dismissed"

Kagura's eyes locked onto the scrolls for a moment before looking back to the Uchiha across the desk from her. She didn't say anything right away, only taking a half-step forward and grabbing the scrolls, quickly putting them into each hand and resuming her stance until he issued her a Congratulations. "Understood, Sir." Quick and crisp, to the point. As he dismissed her, she gave him a nod of acknowledgment and respect, and then spun on a heel and exited the office. She was going to defend her country with everything she had, and now she was better armed to do so. She already had multiple strategies in mind, and they required these scrolls first and foremost.

Taking a breath, she smiled, anxious to get started learning these scrolls. Now that she was out of his office, she quickly tucked them away into her pouch behind her back and sealed it carefully, then took off to a nearby open window, vaulting out of it quickly in the direction of home. She hadn't expected it to be so simple, but then again, they were at war; many of the normal procedures were being waived in order to make sure they were stronger here and now.
