Purpose: To main goal of the Church of Hakkin is protect and guide the law abiding citizens of the Land of lightning towards peace and prosperity. Members worship a being know as the Dragon King Hakkin viewing him as the guardian deity of the land of lightning as the god of both wisdom and war. For him a nation is not the land upon which is built upon but the people who dwell within. They are his jewels, more precious then any gold or silver.

General Description: The Church of Hakkin is an ancient organization dedicated to serving the people of the land of lightning.
For ages people had debated whether Hakkin was an actual deity or not. Some dismissed him as a mere archetype, a tale woven by the desperate to that an entity existed that could counter the threat of the bijuu.
That changed when one day a village was beset by a hoard of bandits. Hopelessly outnumbered they prayed for help and their calls where answered when a massive dragon with glittering scales appeared on the battlefield. Reeking havoc upon the thieves it quickly decimated them with but a flick of it’s tail and a flap of it’s wings causing the survivors to flee in panic.
Rather then pursue the thieves the Dragon stayed, helping the villagers to rebuild their home and teaching them his wisdom before eventually departing to continue his travels, promising to return only when they where in direst need.
Those same villagers would go on to found the first church of hakkin which would spread across the countryside growing in influence and power until they eventually became a vital cog in the land of lightnings infrastructural.
In modern times they mainly provide various religious ceremonies for the people such as regular mass, weddings, funerals and purification rituals while also serving as a reserve force for the county in times of need.
Despite having a large amount of general followers the amount of actual clergyman remains few due to the high requirements required to become one a full fledged member of the cloth. Thus the church follows a small tight-knit command structure with the arch-priest at the top with the three vestal directly below him followed by the general ministers in charge of their local church. Each minister in turn is usual in charge of a handful of priests/priestess and acolytes still in training.

As followers of a god of war and wisdom most priests act as both warriors and spiritual advisers to the people. As such they are expected to be physical strong and well educated in a broad array of topics from theology to diplomacy.
Generally speaking most member's of the church prefer to resort to force only when it is necessary and even then will try to use the minimum amount needed to accomplish their goal and reduce damage when possible. However one would do well to not mistake them as soft as they will not hesitate to do what needs to be done in service for the greater good.
When battle does commence they act as unyielding defenders who do not shirk or sway in the face of the unrighteous. They enjoy peace while it lasts but at determined to be victorious over their enemies when it does not and it is considering a sacrament to be covered in their blood.
When dealing with criminals the idea Is to reform sinners when they can, especially for more minor crimes and to provide as quick painless death as possible when capture isn’t an option for more hardened outlaws. The hand of mercy only extends so far however as they have a special form of capital punishment reserved for especially heinous crimes that is not the death penalty, but rumoured to be more terrible then death itself.
Once captured they will often interrogate criminals and will not hesitate to threaten them to extract information. Well they have no taste to inflict suffering they will resort to torture as the lesser of two evils. They view the pain of the felonious pales in comparison to what would happen to law abiding citizenry if they should fail at their task to route out corruption.
Other then preforming a specific ceremony the main way to commune with Hakkin to seek advice or guidance is by drinking alcohol. It is easily important to followers to do so after a battle so they can report their deeds directly. It is however important to not drink enough to actually become inebriated as one never knows when they may called upon for battle.
When disputes arise in the church and can’t be solved with words they are solved with fists. Duels between warriors are considered hallow and not something to be bet upon. As could be expected from disciples of a god of war they often believe that that might can make right but also that it had to be tempered and used with wisdom and discretion. Members that resorted to violence means too often to solve their problems can be at risk of excommunication for being too disruptive.
As the second highest form of authority in the church Vestals are considered to be symbolically married to their god and as such have taken a vow of chastity that is expected to last for the duration of their service. Breaking the vow with a man can result in serious punishment both for them and their lover. Usually resulting in excommunication from the church for the vestal and castration the paramour. Relations between two woman are considered to a pure form of love and thus not a violation of their vow.
