Crafting | Tainted Nights; Silken Nightmares

It wasn't often the Demon Smith worked with other materials than metals or leather but even her craft had its exceptions. The demon-forged armour she had once started to give shape in a rough sketch was now finished; the armour set finally to her liking. An exclusivity, as the work of art was one which took a lot of effort. The amount of pieces, the intricate details, the high quality of the goods... It was an armour for herself; and to that end, only the best was an acceptable option.

Having a healthy reserve of nevarite already, all she required now was the umbral silk - another of her secretive Kijo Dark Arts crafted materials. Another long night of cursing the essence out of the cloth as she twisted and tainted its spirit into something more. Something as eldritch as the yokai themselves.

The silk was looking the sort now. Darkened all the way down to its core, it had taken a shadow-grey hue. The texture of this new silk was as smooth as the old one, moving at the slightest touch of the wind. For a brief moment, the eyes of the Tengu deceived her; the texture was ever so lightly picked up by the currents of air, the shadowed colour wisping away as the silk fell back into her hands. Much like an afterimage burned into the eyes, but with an ephemeral grace that could not be matched. Satisfied with the progress so far and inching ever closer towards the end of her ritual, she gently rolled up what she already had.

The silk was done. Now the real work could begin. In all fairness, her armour needed an upgrade. The current demon mail she wore was a prototype version of this finished product. Solid in its own right but crude in its quality and design in comparison to what she was about to make. A matter of perspective considering few city smiths could rival that sort of quality. Still, despite the need to better her own craft, the Tengu understood her current chest armour would do what she had intended it to do. It'd protect her chest area to the best of its abilities, faltering only under the pressure of superhuman strengths well beyond her own capability.

There was also the quiet desire to put this new silk to good use. Seeing herself walk around in a new pair of pants bearing a level of quality and craftsmanship that went beyond comprehension appealed to the Daitengu of the Yokai. It would be as much a statement of craftsmanship as it was a statement of prestige. Silken trousers protecting the delicate skin of this warlady. Along with the waist cape belt she wanted to add, it'd make her more feminine and add a layer of mysticism which appealed to the Kijo in her. The perfect combination when threading the battleground while flailing her opponents to death with her trusted kusarigama.

Smiling at the prospect of treating herself well while she worked on her presence and status, she measured the first piece of Kijo silk needed to make her little dream come true.

As if perfectly timed, Hua Li finished her work practically at the same day she had heard her proctoring would no longer be needed. Though she had desired to add one more piece to her outfit, she felt happy that she could return back home. Back to her own trusted forge, where she'd be able to work her craft in peace.
