Ikomiki occupied herself in times like this by staring into the sky.
There were a good deal of birds and clouds, all of which were interesting. The grass was soft under her head too. It was comfortable, like a second pillow below her hair. Laying on the ground like this was maybe not the most useful way of spending her time, but at the same time it was the only thing that she wanted to do. Lazing around like this came naturally to Ikomiki. She was a cat, and it was what cats did. They were supposed to sleep something like sixteen hours each day. Something like that. Ikomiki usually slept less than that, around twelve hours at most. Sometimes much less. It usually gave her plenty of time to sleep while the cats of Sora-ku lazed about in a daze.
The sky was hard to see here. The mist obscured it to a great extent, and she could only barely make out the outline of the outline of the few clouds she had been looking at earlier. It was interesting to see something but still have it near obscured. The mist wasn’t like this where she had come from, being the Land of Fire. If it wasn’t for the fact that this was an island and pretty damp Ikomiki might not have minded staying for a while.
Her Rin’negan would activate. The single ring would appear quickly in her newly purple eyes. It would give her access to the Animal Path. It was an ability she rarely used if at all. She understood the risks that came with it. Just being here made her not safe. There could be someone hunting her down right this instant, trying to find and kill her. There could be others of her kind in this country, or even in the exams, who would love nothing more than to rip these eyes right out of her skull. Maybe not even others of her kind. Just as a result of having these eyes she would never be able to trust anyone. Anyone she met could potentially try to hunt her and take her as a trophy.
She would scan through the images in her eyes. Dead animals. Thousands of them. She could see their souls. It was a strange thing to think about, and difficult to explain. With her eyes she could see plenty of different animals, just… Like they were in some sort of comatose state. Like they were already dead. Pulling them to the surface and making them wake up again was easy, but it took time and practice. If anyone found her doing this it would just result in all the effort she made towards hiding it be a waste. It was why she only bothered to use it on creatures that resembled her- Other cats. There were plenty of people that could summon a singular type of animal through a contract. To the unobservant eye it would appear as if she were doing the same thing.
