Keeping herself busy forging a handful of chain mails might not be that bad, and perhaps she could sell them with some margin of gains too. They'd be basic quality - if a Tengu craftsman could call it such - making them ideal for genin with a starting budget in need of some protection. A chain mail was never a bad choice, after all.
