The sour smell of black fumes. The scent of fish. The alien traces of chemistry. This was the market alright. A place Hua Li could almost call home. Plenty of shops open and about. Wares being shown off. All of them 'quality', of course. One didn't easily fool a Tengu on matters like that, the yokai rather sceptical about such words. She did like the different art styles and forging techniques, on the other hand. Some of those she'd easily consider inferior to the Yokai's techniques but there were others which she considered to have some merit. The scrutinising eye of the Tengu saw much. Far more than most craftsmen would like. Unfortunately for them, Hua Li was not a simple craftsman.
She was a shinobi, at least to some degree of another, and had learned how to maintain a low profile. Under the raised hood of her cloak, she kept to herself. Quietly walking through the crowd as she learned to know the market of Kirigakure. It's secrets, but also those unique offers to which Kumogakure had no access. As she pretty much 'brushed' along some of the more exotic shops, her ears did not fail to pick up the restrictions imposed by the local laws. The licences required or the headbands, for that matter. It looked very much like she'd stand precious little chance to buy up something for her personal use, let alone speak about mercantile on bulk level to sell at higher prices back home. Shame. Not that it really mattered. Hua Li mostly wanted to gauge the quality and prices in comparison to those of Kumogakure.
She had found more than she had expected. Craftsmanship of the walls. Despite the blackened state of kami-knew-what had hit them. Architecture. Another interest, if only to polish up on her engineering skills. Another matter of comparisons, really. Real artists tended to steal with their eyes, or so it was said. Copying, altering, calling it innovation. And somewhere in between it all? Just enjoying a new place like she was some tourist from who-knows-where. Appreciating a new world. She had never been in Kirigakure before, but she had no regrets so far.
