Basic Description
The Yuki Clan District is a giant complex of housing and trade centers, temples and natural wonders of craftsmanship in general. It is home to the Yuki Clan whom was one of the largest families to support the Hozuki in their task to unify kirigakure under a single banner. The Yuki are traders but also warriors and philosophers. The compound features many military constructs as well as temples of worship and wisdom.
Northern Sea Gate and Harbor
The whole Yuki Compound features only two entrances into the walled city. Yet as a Clan who bases its fame and riches on trade, the northern gate is only accessible by the sea and is directly located at the very northern shore of the Hozuki Isle. The giant water gate is surrounded by watch towers and the harbor office is directly built into a giant military fort that serves as meeting place for all the trader who come to sell their goods from overseas, but also as a central building for the many guards required to keep such a giant merchant hub well protected.
Yuki Family Estate
Originally the primary living place for the royal family. It is placed a bit remotely off and away from the walled city on a very small island that is just a breath away from the main island. Located to the east of the city, it is disconnected from the main trade routes and in a very idyllic and quiet position. Due to its lack in deeper protection the estate remains deserted during war times and generally just serves as a weekend getaway or a holiday hub for most Yuki Clansmen.
Southern Main Gate
While restrictive by just giving one giant main gate to access the walled city by land, it is also a very effective way of controlling the ins and outs of traders as well as pilgrims. Also, very useful during war epidemics as the whole city can be closed down by a single entrance, safe for the harbor gate in the north.
Residential District
Directly behind the southern gate is the residential district, hundreds of wealthy Yuki have their own homes here, so it covers most of the southern compound space. While there are also many rather simple and common houses between the large estates, these mostly belong to the Yuki’s servants and workforce. The closer one gets to the royal palace, the more imposing and decadent the estates get.
Royal Palace
At the very center of the whole compound, built against the hills within the walled city, lies the heart of the Yuki District. The Royal Palace is the largest building and houses seemingly endless storage rooms for all the riches and resources that are required to run a little kingdom on its own. All feudal lords, kings and queens eventually spend most of their time at the court of the royal palace. While power always remains within the core family, the official lead of the clan continuously shifts like the tides themselves. The palace also features a rather large armory complex and a royal blacksmith.
Forest and Clinic
North of the Palace and away from the hills is a giant area that serves no other purpose than create a very soothing and natural environment. It starts as royal garden but escalates into a tiny forest which naturally separates the housing area in the south and the traders in the north of the compound. At the very heart of the forest is a giant mother tree, many hospitals and clinics have been built near this relic of nature as its herbs and roots are used for a myriad of medical treatments.
Yuki Dojo
Slightly east of the royal palace and close to the hills is a special and sacred training place. Many rulers and nobles have shown their powers here during official duels but it’s also a meeting place for teachers of all kinds of martial arts known within Kirigakure. Many elder shinobi whom do not deem themselves fit for actual battle anymore, teach here and try to nurture the next generation with their martial knowledge.
Hotsprings
Between the forest and the trading hub is mostly unused space and natural habitat left for future projects within the walled city. Within this tight area natural ponds have formed over the years, quite a few nearby earth ruptures and gas vents, heating up the nearby fauna and giving birth to various little hotsprings that are very popular among the rather frosty minded Yuki clansmen. Those who wish to escape the busy markets and residential hubs tend to build their homes in this more quiet area.
