Break was over, off to the next part. The buildings had suffered damage too, the passing storm sparing nothing in its path. Roofs were being repaired, windows replaced and fences repaired. Animals had gone missing and the clutter spread across the village had to be recollected. Kurenai's task was mostly assistance in smaller reparations. Since she wasn't much of a builder herself, she helped in passing tools and helping to hold something in place. Smaller tasks to help in lighten the load of heavier chores.
As one house would end up repaired, she'd move to the next one with the handyman of service and the tasks would repeat themselves. Assessing the damage, the kunoichi's ability to walk on walls useful to check on higher ground and roofs, then gathering the materials and the tools and handing them over as the handyman started his tasks. Several houses would come to pass, damage being repaired with every visit.
Kurenai found it a marvellous thing, to see a village revive again after it had endured a beating. Resilience of a sort easily overlooked. It would regain vitality as destruction was undone and colours regained as layers of new paint were applied. One could swear the docks looked better than they had done before the storm but that opinion didn't seem to be shared by all, the inhabitants satisfied with what they used to know and now forced to accept changed they had not asked for. Hardly the sort of live Kurenai could understand, knowing the harsh cold of Yuki often forced tribes to move forward in search of new, non-exhausted places to find food and shelter.
But with her duties done and the evening sun throwing its last warmth over the waters, it was great time the kunoichi moved forward to find rest for the night. Payment would follow soon, and with it she'd finally be able to buy much needed materials to improve her arsenal as a shinobi.
