A Gentle Fist is not a Weak Fist (Training/Solo) Empty A Gentle Fist is not a Weak Fist (Training/Solo)

While the Hyuuga girl had never been the most adept Taijutsu disciple that did not mean she was not skilled in the field. As all members of her clan were, she was trained from a young age in the style of the Gentle Fist. At the beginning of her training she had thought the name implied a certain weakness that she didn't quite understand. Why was it that her clan's technique was named Gentle while the commonplace style was named Strong? Her ignorance had led her to believe that learning the Gentle Fist was a waste of time.

It wasn't until she felt the true nature of her clan's Taijutsu through her own fingers and palms that she understood. A Gentle Fist did not mean a weak one. A Strong Fist did not mean a more powerful one. A soft style at heart, the Gentle Fist suited the soft Ningyo. Neither had interest in driving through the opponent, straight and direct lines to victory suited them both equally unwell. A dance as much as a style she thought that the style embodied her as a fighter. It was crazy to think how much time could change opinions. That same unstoppable force, time, had weakened her and it was time to hone herself to where she had once been. She refused to let a hospital stay take away everything she had worked for.

That was the thinking that brought her to the Training Grounds this early morning. Dew and a light fog clung to the ground with all the might of a child unwilling to let go of their favorite toy. These kinds of mornings were always more enjoyable she thought. The world smelled fresher and the mystery of what lie under the fog made each step feel like an adventure. Savoring the sensation each footfall was deliberate and meticulous. Imagination roaring into life as only a teenager could manage. Through this entertaining and all-around thrilling march she finally found herself in the smallest of the training grounds. She had chose this spot for a multitude of reasons, the biggest being that it was the least popular. Quite the opposite of a voyeur or an exhibitionist the Hyuuga enjoyed her privacy and wished to train as such.

"Alright Ningyo, time to get back up to speed. It was a nice nap while it lasted but now you need to make up for lost time." A small pep talk spoken in hushed tones and mumbling lips steeled an already tempered resolve. A quick nod preceded the rolling up of sleeves, revealing bandages that wrapped from fingertip to forearm. It was a common practice among her clan and doubled for her use of puppetry, allowing her fingers to move with a little less worry than they normally would. A negligible advantage but one that she wouldn't feel right in ignoring. She gave her cheeks a few light smacks to fully wake up and then set to work.

Her feet moved silently through the fog. Knees bent slightly as her stance widened into nearly the all-too-familiar horse. Left arm moved out and up as right elbow tucked back, hand even with her hip. A series of deep breaths, in through the nose, out through the mouth. Her left foot slid forward with the sound of loose dirt being pushed accompanying the act. Hips rotated and lent momentum to her right leg, again sliding against the dirt. A slow rotation of the body as her hands began to move. The left pulled into her as the right began to extend, wrist rotating as she bent her pinkie and ring finger down leaving only the index and middle finger to strike upwards at the invisible target. After landing the blow the right wrist would encircle the arm of the opponent, effectively parrying the return blow as hips sunk slightly lower. Using the energy from the next, sudden left step, she drove the open palm of her left hand forward, the fog surrounding had begun to mimic the Hyuuga's practiced motions.

Rotating again, she drove the points of her index and middle fingers around her torso, landing two blows on the invisible target at once. Her movements changed from clockwise to counterclockwise rotations as she ducked under the perceived return strike. The rotation continued and the Hyuuga used it's momentum to push outward with her left arm. Her shoulder turned inward causing elbow, wrist, and palm to follow suit. A pressurized shock wave of chakra jettisoned from her palm. The fog in front of her ceased it's swirling and parted revealing the damp grass it had been hiding. The attack had moved her back into her beginning stance and she drove her right palm forward, perpendicular to the outstretched left. Where the first palm strike had split the fog in front of her the second dissipated it entirely.

Looking down at her feet she smiled widely and jumped a small jump of joy. A perfect circle had been dug into the dirt with her footwork. The fog that hadn't been blown away by her expelled chakra still swirled gently around the training grounds. It reminded her of smoke around a fire. "Looks like I haven't lost as much time as I thought." She said with a playful grin and a giggle before deciding to head out to enjoy the rest of the morning in less strenuous ways.
