Crouching Oni, Hidden Technique Empty Re: Crouching Oni, Hidden Technique

Post by Ulfric Sat Oct 13, 2018 4:21 pm

Another day of training in the many yet to come. The oni found herself at the training grounds again after having tried out a new genjutsu technique with the help of the Devil's Eye. 'Unseen Presence' as it was called, was supposed to push away the attention she often suffered from others, making the mind of others disregard and forget about the oni's presence. A much needed respite from the annoying attention most Outsiders tended to give her, silencing the general shrieks and curses that came with her being around. It was also a technique rather opposed to other disguise jutsu as rather than to alter her own form like 'Human Guise' and the 'Transformation Technique' did, she altered the memory of those perceiving her to simply forget she was around. It was short of making sure she didn't even exist. A great ability to pass by unnoticed, slip in restricted areas or steal something of value 'unnoticed' if she wanted to. She had tried it out along the way to the training area. Improved upon it with every new step, based on the reactions people gave her. Shrieks at first, then confusion and incertitude. Eventually people's eyes had lingered on her for a moment, clearly seeing her, then diverting their gaze without an inkling of reaction. As if they had come to accept that what they had seen was nothing but a illusory figment of their own mind.

Considering the new technique a success, the yokai had entered the training area and took position a couple of feet away from a training dummy. Starting with the basic kata of the Five Venom Fist, she'd warm up her body with some basic moves as her mind thought about the practise she needed today. Mostly Ijutsu, put into a more combat oriented application. The Chakra Scalpel was the first up on the plate, which would then be refined into a form that could serve for combat. A substitute for the average strength she otherwise had, and mostly a fall-back plan since the girl had not much of an intention to improve upon her physical strength either. She felt fine as it was, preferring to put her mind and chakra to good use rather than to do everything through brute strength.

After feeling sufficiently warmed up, the yokai would start to channel chakra through her hand into the form of a scalpel. Hand glowing with a soft black hue, the manifestation of her Baku bloodline, it would slowly form itself into a blade of sorts as she slowly changed its shape into a smooth version that would actually prove useful. At least in her eyes, since surgery was not something she had performed yet. Putting the technique to the test, Akari would allow the chakra scalpel to dig into the wooden dummy, black eyes watching how it cut into the wood with such a small incision she had to narrow her eyes to assure herself she was actually seeing things right.

Considering sufficient for a first try, putting it to use during a surgery would be something she'd have to do under supervision. A mentor would most likely be able to improve upon the base technique with more detail, their sharpened eyesight better fit to point out perfection in the technique. Carefully maintaining the chakra scalpels, Akari would start wielding them as she performed her Five Venom Fist kata again at a slow pace, trying to combine the Ijutsu's refined technique with the taijutsu combat stance she knew.

Maintaining both the scalpel and the martial arts wasn't as easy as she had hoped, the combination resulting in her losing power at one time or losing focus on another and see the chakra fizzle. It was clear she had to change her approach in the use of the skill. Like solving a puzzle through trial and error, Akari searched for a new approach. Lowering the precision of the scalpel, different steps. She was practically creating an entirely different move set in her search for balance between scalpel and combat but eventually she figured out the basics that would allow her to maintain the Scalpel with more ease. Improvement of this new fighting style would come with time, as it was far from battle tested at this point. As an additional benefit to the 'laxer' approach of the Scalpel's battle form, the scalpel seemed easier to mold into different variations. A wide swing could increase in danger as the scalpel seemed to linger, its size expressively enlarged for such an occasion. In other times, the battle pragmatic oni assumed more defensive measures and felt a need to parry incoming blows. In the ever-offensive style of Five Venom Fist, the scalpels would inflict harm even if she was pushed into the defence, granting it a more solid form to block incoming blows while retaining its cutting power. She wasn't quite sure how impactful this 'solid scalpel' would be in a real fight but the puppet suffered damage despite the alteration and that was, at this point, all the oni required to know. Mastery of abilities came later.

Letting go of the scalpel training for the moment, Akari wiped the sweat of her head and took a bottle of water from her backpack. Taking a healthy swig, the mind of the oni didn't falter even now to work on analysing the flaws of her techniques and looking for improvements. Focus, control, speed. There was still a lot of work to do before these techniques would combat worthy at any given time. As the day was still young and the future bright, the survivalist knew that a consistent approach in training would get her much further than cramming all attempt of improvement into a single day.

Time to move on, Akari put the bottle back in her backpack and moved closer to the puppet. Practise was not done yet. True to her oni nature, her practise had lacked brutal strength and proper trampling over puny humans. She knew how to rectify that, having heard about techniques that could grant one superhuman feats of strength. Fingers which could flick a person away, punches that could create fissures and craters in the ground. The sort of power display the youngster certainly could appreciate if it added to the fear she already brought. Though the practise was fairly straight-forward, mastery and proper channelling of the ability was not something she'd achieve over night. For now, all she had to do was gather a fistful of chakra... and ram that into the puppet with a warcry!

The result was as it should be. Devastating. The puppet's head and chest would splinter under the impact of her chakra enhanced blow and fly across the room. Without a doubt, being brutal and destructive was in the demon's nature, mirth reflecting in her eyes for the results. Making use of techniques like this was rather fun but the drain on her chakra was all too real as well, leaving the oni panting even after a single use.

Much like was often the case with Akari, even a satisfactory brute display of force like this didn't keep the mind quiet as it searched for practical uses of the technique other than total destruction of a target. Walls could crumble under this sort of might, the earth could give way under its power. To what extend remained to be seen. Obvious uses, leaving the mind wondering if it could be combined with other techniques. Could such enhanced strength benefit the Five Venom Fist? Perhaps her Devil's Eye and her genjutsu? The answers eluded her for now, as physical prowess was a difficult thing to translate into mental capability.

“Now what in the world did that puppet ever do you?” A smoky male voice spoke up at Akari’s flank. If the oni was to turn and look she will find a jounin garbed in a fiery coat. Black leathery pants and seems to be wearing a flak jacket underneath the coat. Still probably the most notable is his colorful hair of teal blue with crimson tips. It might don on the oni that the jounin was only being sarcastic about the puppet as Morikawa held a smile on his face.

There doesn’t appear to be any sort of weaponry on this jounin, and yet Morikawa doesn’t seem to be worried about that. “Then again with a combination of techniques like those i suppose there really isn’t much of anything to test that on. Mind if i help you on the Ijutsu training? Or were you planning to call it for the day?” To be frank Morikawa is quite appreciative that someone else has taken up the ijutsu route. Not many people do, and currently Morikawa is supposedly the best ijutsu user in the village. He honestly doesn’t be that much center of attention, but it happens.

To be frank Morikawa is wanting to try out a powerful raiton technique, but it isn’t exactly friendly to the environment. Which is why if Akari wishes to stop such destruction to happen, Morikawa figured to turn this into a sort of game. Of course he wants to make sure that Akari can muster the strength required of such a thing. After all, the Four Pillar Binding was not something to toy with. Mori was forming the Ram, Boar, Dog, Bird, and Hare only nothing is happening at the moment. It was to get used to the combination of seals. If need be though Morikawa could summon the pillars rather quickly.

Heralded, as per usual, by his bee's. Shinoskay felt no rush to get anywhere, he had an intention for this moment and he knew that so long as he moved to do it then in time it would get done. For this moment, that motivation was to practice a few new jutsu.

Along his way to training grounds two he would pass through training grounds one. In it, there was that strange scented girl and his cousin.

His hands in his Hoari pockets, he would take step towards the two until he was some 70 feet from them. The boy had around 30 presently resting inside his clothing, out of sight, and ready for used while another 30 buzzed around about the area in a 150 foot radius.

“Now what in the world did that puppet ever do you?”

Her attention would be pulled away from her training as a stranger walked up to her. Black eyes would shift their gaze onto the one disturbing her training. Two-coloured hair, a fiery coat, leather black trousers. Not sure if he was to be an artistic deviant or a rebel without a cause in Kumogakure's regulations, but as she moved a hand to rest on her hip, breathing still deep as she caught her wind, the raspy voice of the oni would reply, "It was being a bore"

Before the stranger presented himself, he'd offer her help with her ijutsu training. Meaning he was, at the very least, a shinobi able to recognise the technique she just came to practise. A man of certain knowledge and insights on par with her own, and from the offer he made presumably of a higher skill than her. Perhaps the level of Cloud Kid? The man had certainly showed better skill at ijutsu than she did, even with lesser techniques like the Chakra Palm.

"What do you have in mind?", she'd ask, not instantly taking him up on the offer. The last thing she wanted was to be tricked into something she didn't feel like it. After all, it was up to the devil to trick others, not the way around. As she waited for a reply, she'd catch the buzz of bees in the vicinity. Lifting her eyes in search of its origin, she'd catch a bee flying around before a second one would be spotted. Narrowing her eyes as she remembered a certain encounter with a bee controlling person, she'd eventually spot another person in the distance seemingly coming their way. Too far at this point to be identified, the oni wondered if that was the bee-man she had met before.

The buzzing sound reached the jounin's keen ears as Morikawa knows the ecology enough that bees normally don't come this far into the mountains. Certainly not where plantation is hard to find except in bountiful locations. Still Morikawa shifted his gaze over to the a lone bee as one seemed to have landed on his arm. Morikawa held enough knowledge that bees generally don't sting unless it is agitated in which case self defense.

“Well i give you a test. By presenting a difficult obstacle i want you to figure out how to best eliminate the danger before you.” Morikawa answered the oni's question as he was blunt and straight to the point. He certainly knows that anyone viewing this or what is about to take place would assume that Morikawa is a madman. The worst sensei in Kumogakure history and all that noise. Morikawa formed the required seals for this technique. “Lightning Release: Four Pillar Binding.”

Rising up fifty meters away from the village and themselves is a large pillar of granite coating with heavy amounts of raiton chakra. At a fifty meter increment up to 250 meters is 3 other pillars. “Those pillars generate enough power to tear the land asunder and potentially deadly to genin. The test? Destroy the pillars before the closest one discharges raiton chakra within 50 meter radius.” Morikawa has set the stage and demonstrated just what these things were capable of doing by discharging the furthest one in a brilliant golden light as dust cloud rose up and shrouds the furthest pillar from view. Leaving only the yellow arcs to be seen dancing along the pillars. “I'll leave whatever method you can use to accomplish this.” Its insane because this technique was a high ranked raiton technique. One that is being used against a genin, but Morikawa purposely made it so that Akari wouldn't have to deal with all four of them at once. Plus Morikawa leaves whatever device Akari has to her disposal. The question would be what would Akari do now?

Post by Shinoskay Tue Oct 16, 2018 3:00 pm

Shinoskay, having arrived into the scene and now watching things progress, listened to the two talk and looked over the jutsu that was formed. He heard his cousing talk about how the pillars generate a high level of power, were likely fatal to genin, and held a wide range. He noted his cousin was within the 50 meters range for one of the pillars, however, and so he moved over to next to his cousin.

He felt concerned, naturally, the girl had an interesting scent and he still wasnt sure how he felt about her but he was definitely curious. She seemed unique, different, somehow and so he was inclined to worry about her becoming dead. While he had seen some instability in his cousin, the boy felt that the older Mikiri wouldnt actually kill the Kumo Kuniochi, let alone risk himself, so rather then panic he would just watch with a worried expression.

In his own mind, he visualized the pillars and how he himself would handle the situation. He was not skilled enough with his bee creation, in itself, to do much of anything to the pillars in whole but he felt that his ability to make and launch senbon's from his bee's could help... maybe even use the amplification technique to give it a little extra umf just in case... in his mind it could work and it was what Shinoskay would likely do if he was in Akari's position.

A possible back up plan could be to try and burst out from between the pillars, to use something like the reverse of Surface walking or tree climbing in order to use chakra as an accelerate or spring to launch himself out from between the pillars to give himself the distance to avoid the shock burst altogether. They were spread out far but it could be done. He would feel out the chakra moulding around his feet while he visualized this, feeling it out to see if it was a viable idea as he traced the earth and the soles of his shoes.

Crouching Oni, Hidden Technique Empty Re: Crouching Oni, Hidden Technique

Post by Ulfric Tue Oct 16, 2018 4:25 pm

A test? An obstacle? The oni eyed the stranger with neutral interest. Puzzling wasn't really what she felt like doing at this point, but when he formed the hand seals for some raiton jutsu she wondered what exactly he was about to do. Behind her, the rumble of raising rock would resonate through the training area. She'd turn around, seeing the four pillars grow into existence and frown  in discomfort as she tried to figure out what exactly that technique was supposed to be. Having trained techniques classified as B-ranks herself, she knew this was of a whole different power still but other than that she couldn't exactly say what rank. A? S? From its name it sounded like it was supposed to serve as a prison of sorts but at the distance they were being placed the oni had a hard time figuring out the danger in the test. Well, not really. If that technique could tear through landscape, the casual remark that it 'potentially deadly' to genin made her shoot daggers at him with her eyes.

"Seems you mistake tests for death wishes.", she replied to the man with a dour expression, folding her arms at the insanity of this all. When lightning crackled and struck the area around it. The earth around it would be devastated, chunks flying up, a huge cloud of dust and dirt concealing the pillar in the distance. Quite shocked as she remembered how lightning once cleaved a nearby tree, she ran her hand through her hair and shook her head. "You're insane..."

At least it had inspired her to solve the puzzle, her mind pulled back to the dark moments in the wilderness. The heavy rainfall in the depth of night, the animals on a craze, thunder roaring through the skies and lightning cleaving the trees. How old was she back then? Eight? Nine? Did it even matter? She didn't have time to spare. Almost driven by instinct, she'd strike her shoulders before stepping into the Five Venom Fist form. She'd feel her chakra stream differently in her body as she did and redirected it further into a more acrobatic style as she took off running towards the first pillar 50 meters away.

Every second would tick away slowly even with her enhanced speed. 12 m/s still felt slow in a moment like this when every lapse of time could mean the end. The crack of thunder would hit the second stone. Just like when thunder and lightning crackled in the forest. Trees cleaved, falling down. Not a single second was too precious while trying to find shelter against the storm. The third stone would send the ground flying in the air, the impact wind blowing her white hair backwards. A momentarily glimpse at the incoming storm. One chance, one moment. All her determination and power would be gathered in a single fist and swung forward with a war cry against the last pillar. As lightning coursed down its way to shatter the earth below, brute force would crack the pillar, creating an 18m radius crate where her fist had struck the stone. The whole construct would come crumbling down with an insane noise, chakra clashing hard with the raiton. It threw Akari away in the blast before she crashed into the ground under the guise of another cloud crafted by dust and debris.

Morikawa would shift his eye over to the approaching steps to find his younger cousin. It has been a while since Morikawa has seen his kin, but nonetheless the jounin greets Shino with a wave of his hand. Akari didn't like how his tests were based on because in all accounts it potentially could be a death wish. But with this technique it was unlikely as Morikawa would have dismissed the pillars if it ever came to that. Regardless the oni charged forward to the closest pillar as the booms of thunder following flashes of lightning from the distance.

With a mighty swing of a fist, Akari destroys the first pillar as it crumbles with a horrible grinding sound. With the flash of lightning as it discharges prematurely and causing debris with dust cloud rising up from the ground. As Mori had anticipated Akari destroyed the technique altogether as the rest crumbles with it. A truly sorry excuse for an S ranked technique in Morikawa's opinion. “Come on lets go pick up your friend Shino.”

True to his word the jounin crossed the distance at a faster rate. His keen eyes looking around the area until finally he found Akari laying unconscious on the ground. Morikawa immediately checked for vital signs, and thankfully she was still alive. Which was good because the raw power behind the four pillars is weak compared to other techniques. Knocking out a genin sure, but its death rate is especially low since it wasn't designed to hurt that much. “She's alright cousin. Give it at least an hour she'll wake back up. Which by the way, hypothetical how would you be able to take down those pillars?”

Morikawa won't immediately say anything else even if Shino answers the question. Instead the jounin will wait for Akari to wake up with Mori's hands tucked into his coat. “Morning. That was quite a shocking display. Insane though? Eh, i suppose depending on how you look at it.” Raising one hand to push his spectacles up, Mori continued. “The trick when it comes to ninjutsu users is if they're molding chakra or the result of a jutsu is somehow maintained. You can simply hit the opponent hard enough to break their concentration. Do mind that these specialists knows not to get in close combat so they'll most likely stay out of your reach.”

Crouching Oni, Hidden Technique Empty Re: Crouching Oni, Hidden Technique

Post by Shinoskay Fri Oct 19, 2018 6:21 pm

The destructive explosion of the jutsu was only slightly alarming, having had faith in his cousin he felt no shock or cause for concern over the situation and as such was already braced for the results. It was impressive, to say the least, he could feel the immense chakra's in both actions, while he couldnt see the power he was able to feel that there was an immense amount of chakra in the lightning trap... what surprised him though was that their wasnt a lot of chakra in his fellow genin. He could feel the change and shift in flow as she jabbed her self in the arm, he saw she was definitely doing SOMETHING, but his ability to sense couldnt detect beyond that and the only tell he had over the situation was that she moved with incredibly focus and intensity until the moment she struct... and that it actually destroyed the pillow outright. Her strike was well above what was needed and it send the pillar into an intense cascade of sound, dirt, and electricity.

The moment the dust spread and clouded sight of the situation, the older cousin moved purposefully in to attend to the genin 'wait, is he actually worried?'. He would frown momentarily but would move to follow behind as was instructed, he was much slower though but the distance was short so the two would still arrive roughly at the same time with the delay giving just enough time for Mori to check and confirm Akari was still alive, thus preventing Shinoskay from standing there tensely waiting to hear if such was so or not. He would nod at the announcement in time to hear the follow up question, at first the thought seemed somewhat daunting to him and so it was only after the dust cleared some and he was able to actually look at the seen would he reply "I didnt detect chakra moving into the ground once the pillars were up, suggesting it doenst reinforce that, so I would probably have used a puppet or something to burrow under one or all four pillars to topple them over."

He would then wait with Morikawa.

Post by Ulfric Sat Oct 20, 2018 5:14 pm

Singularity. One vast world of darkness where everything and everyone was the same. No differences, no suffering. One sentience in perfect peace. Until Light filtered in and dispersed Singularity. Difference was created. Colours gave shape to images.Singularity became a new reality of stone rubble and two faces. Sound blurred through the peaceful quietude to give shape to meaning. Then the whole creation of the world left her as her mind once pacified by Singularity was nudged into consciousness.

The floor was uncomfortably hard and not quite kind to her wings. Sitting up, Akari would stretch her white wings and fold them neatly, the muscles rather sore from the prolonged wry position she had been in. Her body felt sore, the burst of chakra drain not entirely having left her. Bruises betrayed where rock had hit her rather hard, with a place or two even having bled a little. It had dried up by now. Only her right hand, the one with which she had shattered the pillar, suffered burn marks where the raiton had singed her. But other than that wound, it was nothing she wasn't used to deal with. Kabukicho's streets were not that different in roughness as what she was suffering now.

Standing up and loosening her body some, she'd assess the environment. Remember where exactly she was and what she had been doing. The two people she had seen last before all became black were still around, making it seem like her black out had been of a short duration. So after she had dusted off her clothes some, she looked at Morikawa.

"That was pretty exhilarating... but I still consider you crazy. A bit later and I'd have been fried."

Morikawa can see how Shino’s answer could work provided Shino could pull it off. Still Morikawa stayed to his lecture about how to combat ninjutsu specialists. A chuckle is rewarded from the jounin after hearing Akari’s remark. “If i didn’t think you couldn’t handle it then i wouldn’t have even put you up to the test. Besides had you done the easy way by taking that strength and directed it at me instead you wouldn’t have been hurt.” The jounin will temporarily let his words sink into the two before continuing. “I suppose that neither of you have a designated sensei?” A reasonable question or so Morikawa wagered. He’s been called crazy, a madman, lunatic, etc. So Akari’s comment about the jounin doesn’t surprise him as he gets that a lot. Not a lot of people approve of his methods, and thus is the reason why Morikawa will never take the kage’s seat.

Shinoskay nodded at the lecture, it made sense and he knew bee's could be incredibly distracting but chakra moulding happens pretty fast so just how effective is that? Something he would have to reflect on. However, the next question shocked the boy "um, Cousin, I thought you were teaching me..." He couldn't be sure if sensei and what his cousin was would be different, but since they were both family and Morikawa then it made the most sense for the Jounin to be his designated sensei since next to no one else was able to educate the boy in the ways of his clan, which would more then likely be the core of his fighting style, then the mad Medical nin was.

The boy's confusion showed plainly on his face, but he was ready to see it as some joke or something.

Directing her strength at him? Breaking his concentration. Perhaps it was an option, the oni not quite convinced beating up the shinobi would actually put a halt to the technique. Was this the sort of technique requiring a consistent concentration or the sort that moved on in its execution no matter what? It was rather hard to say at first sight but thinking some more about it, she didn't see any fuinjutsu seals that might be sustaining it without requiring concentration. Of course, that didn't necessarily mean there were none.

"Easy is boring.", she said with a shrug of her shoulders. "I don't have a designated person, no. I consider nature as my teacher and the entire world as my training ground. Survival is a rough school."

Speaking of survival... Akari conjured healing chakra into her hand and allowed the soothing touch go over the wounds she suffered. They were mostly bruises and a couple of small wounds but even the smallest wounds could turn into nasty infections if they weren't tended to. As she patched herself up, she picked up the Bee man's confusion and words. Cousin? The two knew each other?

“I have been teaching you Shino, but unfortunately that didn’t really make me as your designated sensei. However that can be arranged as I am willing to officially take both of you under my wing as students. Shino, it is about time we get yourself some equipment. I’m afraid i neglected to ask for your name, but have you thought about getting some protective gear? Like a leather vest for example to protect your vitals?” If Shino was close quarter specialist like Akari was displaying then he would’ve suggested Shino to do the same. However with Shino getting a bow and quiver of arrows Shino probably won’t have to worry about it so long as Akari works together with Shino. Though as Morikawa thought about it he decided to get Shino a vest as well just in case.

“Tell that to the next guy who throws a bolt of lightning at your direction.” Speaking towards Akari on her remark of easy is boring. Either it was arrogance or confidence that borderlines arrogant. In short Morikawa is trying to get it inside their heads to never underestimate their opponent. Shrugging his shoulders Morikawa decided to go along with his thoughts. “Well let’s head over to the market. Honestly once we get you two proper gear i think you’ll do fine in the chunin exams. I do urge you two to take a D ranked mission to practice teamwork and it’ll get you two some ryo too.”

Shinoskay would stand quietly as he listened to the two talk, while he watched a few of his bee's buzz around off in the outskirs of the training field. He would register that Morikawa told him that he wasnt actually his sensei but that he just trained the boy, registering that in his mind but dismissing it as something that sounded rather confusing. He figured it was just one of those complicated administrative thing, something the boy didnt care too much about... after all, a drone bee would just go out and get pollen. The bee didnt care if their was honey, it didnt care if the hive lacked honey, it just had a job to do and so while it existed it would go and do its job until it no longer existed. The hive grew, only limited by the space available to it and it ability to feed its residents and produce offspring before they died. Surplus was just surplus and workers where workers because they went off and worked.

His thoughts on bee's was pierced by the mentions of a bolt of lightning, Shinoskay wasnt sure what they were talking about at this point but he waited till Morikawa said theyd head to the market so it sounded like the conversation had shifted to gear now and so the boy would turn casually to follow his cousin. Since his cousin suggested that the two do some D rank missions together the boy would contemplate what kind of missions the two should do.

"Fine, I will", Akari replied, wondering why Morikawa suddenly seemed ticked off about her remark. She liked a challenge. Was this so wrong? It wasn't like surviving outside the Village had been easy for a kid. Now things just fell dull when there was no trouble following in her wake. Kabukicho at least required her to remain constantly vigilant, but the rest of the Village was just a safe place of boredom where the worst you could suffer was being pick-pocketed. Unfortunately for them, Akari had little to take from that was not shinobi gear.

With the two moving to the market place to get Shino some gear, Akari followed them up. She didn't have much to do at this point anyway, so walking behind them was just as good an occupation as any other for the time being.
