Appearance:
Yama is a tall young man, standing at 6'10 in height with a large muscular frame, weighing in at 320lbs of pure muscle that can come off as slightly intimidating. He could be described as a literal giant towering over the majority of people he meets. He has icy blue eyes with reddish orange hair styled into a mohawk. On his ears hangs a pair of gold hoop earrings. His attire generally consists of a sleeveless black undersuit, black hakama pants, short sleeve black top, green vest, green boots with matching green bracers. Yama always wears a friendly smile, that even with his big intimidating frame makes him seem not so bad.
History:
Yama was born into the Amagai tribe, a nomadic tribe. The tribe was well known for its members who grew to giant sizes with the average male being six foot. The nomadic tribe had a tendency travelled around, never staying in one place, mainly due to the fighting between various clans and lands that was happening. When Yama was born, he was born larger than most children. Due to this large size, his parents believed he would one day become a pillar of the tribe, a giant warrior like none other, so they gave him the name Yama meaning Mountain. The name Mountain was to install a deep meaning to Yama, with the hope he would grow to be as sturdy and strong as a Mountain. Combined with the names own meaning Amagai, Heavenly Valley translated Yama's name to mean Heavenly Valley Mountain. A sturdy Mountain contained within a Heavenly Valley, a name to equal strength.
The Amagai tribe would move from place to place, moving when the cold months began to arrive. The clan would train huntsman and warriors at a young age starting from the age of four, installing a discipline and loyalty to not only the tribe but one another. The tribe valued team-mate over everything, teaching the children how to look out for one another. If a family of the tribe lost its father out hunting or their mother, the rest would pitch. If a child lost both their parents they would be adopted into another family, making sure they never went without family. The tribe was like one big family. Any crime against another member would be harshly punished once invested. If the crime was only minor then the offender would receive a slight slap on the wrist and an apology to the offended party was required, minor crimes could lead to a fine, an apology gift and perhaps even a little time in prison. A major crime thought could lead to exile or even execution.
Yama grew up with loving parents, his mother the tribe's healer, and his father the head warrior. Like all children at the age of five, Yama began his training. The tribe saw much hope within the child as by the age of five he was as large as children twice his age with a large growing physique. At the age of five, Yama had the strength to throw around children older than him with ease, a monster in child form. The child was the pride of the tribe, but they never spoiled him, for fear of it going to his head and creating arrogance. From training a deep sense of rules were set into Yama, to never hurt the innocent, to only hunt what you needed to kill, never harm a member of the tribe, always protect children, never allow harm to become a woman unless it was in battle and they were an enemy warrior. While Yama would grow up to be chivalrous in a way, he would still dare to cross arms against a woman, even killing them if he had to.
Yama didn't train in the way of the sword like other children, instead showing passion for wielding different types of weapons, showing a future in being a weapons master. Though he practised with various types of weapons from bo staffs to katana to even nunchaku, Yama found a love of wielding three types of weapons Polearms such as Spears, Halberds and the like, Axes and Warhammers. These three type of weapons were his preferred choice. But out of all of them, the spear trumped the other's as he would even sleep with one.
The tribe had a habit of teaching only few members how to use chakra, the next in line to be clan chief was one of those along with those who had prospects to become tribal elders. The chief heir would always be voted by the tribe who picked Yama. The boy picked to be the next head, would learn under the current chief and previous chief along with the tribal elders. Over the years of practice, Yama would grasp a firm hold on chakra, unlocking twin elements Fire and Lightning, eventually, incorporating them into his fighting style.
By the age of twelve, a budding teenager, Yama was already the size of a fully grown adult member of the tribe, wielding a spear that was taller than he and weight as much as a grown man. Yama would become a warrior of the tribe, coming to clash blades against other roaming tribes as they fought over land and resources. The giant boy would gain experience through years of brutal fighting, as he fought side by side his own clansmen, seeing many fall. Yama would spill much blood over the course of his travelling years, even seeing the death of his own father at the hands of another tribes chief at the age of fifteen. At this age, Yama was taller than anyone else in the Amagai tribe and was next in line to become its chief. Seeing his fathers death, Yama went into a battle frenzy, rapidly growing in strength and attacked. Yama slaughtered the chief an would bury the chief's skull beside his fathers (Yama's) as a way to say revenge had been claimed.
As tribal chief, Yama found it hard, always trying to decide what was best for the tribe. For a year under him, the tribe was constantly under attack by others who saw it as a fat sheep. They thought a child would be too inexperienced. Under the constant attacks, the sixteen-year-old Yama decided that the tribe would move to settle permanently in the village of Kumogakure no Sato that had come into existence thirteen years ago. The tribe and its people settled into Kumo as refugees and split apart, but they never forgot their bonding, getting together at least once a week to eat and catch up with one another. Maybe one day the tribe would be able to gather again under one banner.
Having separated from the tribe and no longer possessing the title of chief, Yama joined the shinobi corps looking for allies to fight alongside, just like those of his tribe who had died beside him.
Personality:
A resolute man with a straightforward personality. He is a very hard working young man that believe that those who view martial arts as a tool to get fame and glory will fall. He has a personality which reflects that of a strong-willed person with an equally powerful sense of determination. It is because of this stubbornness to never give up, even in the most extreme of odds against him that will allow him to prevail time and time again even in the most difficult of situations.
To younger children he reveals an older brother like persona, going to such an extent he will become like a shield to them, to protect them from the harsh reality of the world. He is caring for children and will do anything in his path to keep them from harm. Yama will never kill directly in front of a child, first having them close their eyes and once blood has been shed lead them away so they never have to see it. Yama also has a soft spot towards frail women and pets.
When it comes to matters of the heart, Yama has a love of women, but rarely ever shows lust or acts on it. Not to say he has never ever acted upon, just rarely will he ever give into carnal desire. It's because of this he will never be tempted by the opposite sex in battle, nor can be teased by women around him.
Although he is very stalwart and pursues proper justice for all, he is also a merciless god of death that would kill anyone that would harm his friends and family no matter what the cost. This kind of killing was born from incidents he faced in the past. He is quite ruthless if someone were to bully someone else or they were gonna harm someone dear to him. If someone were to try and kill him or someone he cares about then, he will have no qualm about killing them. In battle he is a wild beast, tearing into the enemy without hesitation. He may hold back at times to test the enemy, other times he will go all out with a killing blow. Yama always believes in fighting to kill, it is how he was trained and the experience he gleaned from many life and death battles.
