The Usual Suspects Empty The Usual Suspects

Post by Chinatsu Sat Jun 15, 2024 11:00 pm

    Spoiler:

In the heart of the Hidden Stone Village, where the rugged mountains met the whispering pines, lived Gyeong, a spirited young ninja known for his keen eyes and unwavering determination. At the break of dawn, when the first rays of sunlight painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, Gyeong set out on his daily patrol duty. Clad in his lightweight yet sturdy ninja attire, Gyeong made his way to the village gates. The gates were formidable, built of solid stone and adorned with intricate carvings depicting the village's rich history. It was Gyeong's responsibility, along with his fellow ninjas, to ensure that no harm befell the village from outside threats.

As he took his position near the gates, Gyeong's senses heightened. His eyes scanned the surrounding forest with a sharpness honed through years of training. His ears twitched at the slightest rustle of leaves, attuned to the natural symphony of the woods. Gyeong's mind was focused, his heart steady with the knowledge that his vigilance protected those he cared about. Hours passed in quietude, broken only by the occasional chirping of birds and the gentle rustling of the wind through the trees. Gyeong remained alert, his mind clear and his body poised for action if the need arose. He knew that even in times of peace, danger could lurk in the shadows, waiting for a moment of complacency.

As midday approached, a group of merchants arrived at the gates, seeking entry to the village. Gyeong greeted them with a respectful bow, his demeanor calm yet vigilant. After a quick inspection of their goods and a brief exchange of words, he allowed them to pass, ensuring that only goodwill entered the village.  That evening, as he sat beneath the stars with his fellow ninjas, sharing a meal and stories of their day, Gyeong reflected on the simplicity of his duty. Patrol duty was not always filled with perilous battles or heroic feats, but it was in these quiet moments that the strength of his village thrived—the unbroken vigilance of its protectors, ensuring peace and prosperity for all. As the night deepened and the village settled into a peaceful slumber, Gyeong found solace in knowing that tomorrow, with the rising sun, he would once again stand guard at the gates of the Hidden Stone Village, ready to face whatever challenges the day might bring.

The Usual Suspects Empty Re: The Usual Suspects

Post by Chinatsu Sat Jun 15, 2024 11:05 pm

    Spoiler:

The next night found Gyeong in a different role, yet one that complemented his skills as a ninja. He had been tasked with acting as a bouncer at a local club favored by high-end socialites from the Hidden Stone Village and beyond. The club, nestled in a discreet corner of the village, buzzed with life as elegant patrons arrived in luxurious attire, their laughter mingling with the soft music that spilled into the night. Gyeong stood at the entrance, his presence a silent assurance of security. Tall and composed, he exuded an air of authority that discouraged any trouble before it could arise. His eyes, sharp as ever, scanned each newcomer with a practiced gaze, assessing without judgment, ensuring the safety and tranquility of the gathering within.

Throughout the evening, Gyeong remained vigilant but unobtrusive. He observed the ebb and flow of the crowd, noting familiar faces and greeting regular patrons with a nod of recognition. His focus was unwavering, his senses attuned to the subtle shifts in atmosphere that could hint at impending discord. Occasionally, a guest would approach him, perhaps seeking entry or inquiring about the evening's events. Gyeong handled these interactions with a calm demeanor, his responses concise yet courteous. His presence alone was often enough to convey that the rules of the establishment were to be respected. As the night wore on and the revelry reached its peak. As the early hours of the morning approached and the last guests departed, Gyeong finally allowed himself a moment of relaxation. His shift had been successful, devoid of any incidents requiring his intervention. With a sense of quiet satisfaction, he bid farewell to the club staff and made his way through the quiet streets of the village toward his home. Both roles demanded vigilance and restraint, yet each offered a unique perspective on the safety and security of his community. Whether patrolling the village gates or overseeing a gathering of socialites, Gyeong understood that his commitment to protecting others remained unwavering. As he reached his doorstep and prepared to rest, Gyeong knew that tomorrow would bring new challenges and responsibilities. With a quiet resolve, he embraced the tranquility of the night, knowing that his watchful presence had contributed to another day of peace in the Hidden Stone Village.

The Usual Suspects Empty Re: The Usual Suspects

Post by Chinatsu Sat Jun 15, 2024 11:21 pm

    Spoiler:

After the previous night's rather uninteresting and routine activities, the next evening found that Gyeong was embarking on yet another shift, this time at the local zoo. As a trusted guardian of the Hidden Stone Village, his duties extended to ensuring the safety and security of the zoo's inhabitants and premises during the night hours. Arriving at the zoo gates under the cover of darkness, Gyeong exchanged greetings with the daytime staff as they prepared to depart. The zoo, normally bustling with families and visitors during daylight, now lay quiet and serene under the moon's gentle glow. He had really been doing a number of these missions now, guarding things at night. He supposed these were less desirable shifts and as such lower ranking members had to take them. It made a certain kind of brutal sense.

Throughout that night, Gyeong's patrol route took him past enclosures housing magnificent creatures: the graceful tigers prowling their territory with silent intensity, the giant pandas munching contentedly on bamboo, and the playful monkeys swinging through the branches. His heart swelled with admiration for these creatures, each embodying a unique resilience and beauty that mirrored his own ninja spirit. Despite the peaceful aura, Gyeong remained vigilant. His keen eyes scanned the surroundings for any signs of unauthorized entry or potential threats. The night brought with it a different kind of challenge—protecting the zoo not only from vandals and vagrants but also from the unpredictable forces of nature itself. As he made his rounds, Gyeong marveled at the nocturnal life within the zoo. The air was filled with the soothing sounds of crickets and the occasional hoot of an owl perched high in the trees. Each corner of the zoo held its own charm, from the exotic birds nestled in their aviaries to the majestic elephants quietly dozing in their enclosures.Hours passed in quiet diligence, interrupted only by the occasional rustle of leaves or the distant call of a nocturnal animal. Gyeong's presence was a reassuring presence to both the creatures under his care and the village he served. His ninja training instilled in him a deep respect for balance and harmony, qualities he sought to uphold in every aspect of his duties. As the night neared its end and the first hints of dawn tinged the horizon with soft hues of pink and gold, Gyeong completed his final patrol. The zoo remained undisturbed, a testament to his watchful guardianship. He bid farewell to the night staff and made his way back through the tranquil streets of the village.

    Mission Name: Perimeter Patrol
    Mission Type: Guard
    Mission Rank: C
Mission Goal: Patrol the area surrounding the village
Description: Secure the perimeter and check for weak spots in defenses. Keep an eye out for wild animals or bandits.
    Payment: 15k
    Requirements: C-Class, Jounin Escorted Genin

The prior day he had returned home to rest, but then Gyeong reflected on the many responsibilities he had: from patrolling the village gates to overseeing a prestigious club and safeguarding a beloved zoo. Each role presented its own challenges and rewards, but through them all, Gyeong remained steadfast in his dedication to protecting the community he cherished. With the promise of a new day on the horizon, Gyeong embraced the lessons learned from his night shift at the zoo. As the sun rose over the Hidden Stone Village, casting its warm light upon the rooftops and gardens, Gyeong knew that his vigilance and commitment would continue to shape the peace and prosperity of his new home. He though to of this not only as he got ready for the day but as he went on patrol, for that was his mission today to scan the village perimeter for weaknesses. His mind wandrred but he still looked and found generally that they had a relatively well sealed off village despite how much difficulty had befallen them throughout the last decade. Impressive to say the least.

    Mission Name: Dora The Explorer
    Mission Type: Investigation
    Mission Rank: C
    Mission Goal: Find the Explorer
Description: Dora went out on an expedition into the Chang Mountains but has missed her radio check ins, go find her. Watch your step.
    Payment: 15k
    Requirements: C-Class

the next item on his docket for the day was slightly annoying in that it involved a bit of an external adventure to the Chang mountain range where someone had gone out to explore but failed to return. The family was quite worried and the village had a keen interest in ensuring no one was missing and that no one was willingly defecting, so they sent out Gyeong to investigate. The girl was not supposed to be dangerous, but the mountains could be treacherous. Luckily though his Desert Suspension ability was perfect for this kind of circumstance, allowing him to simply fly around to look. He mused about how… incredibly powerful such a flight ability was, especially because it was relatively cheap even with his meager chakra reserves. Combine with his sensory abilities he would be able to effectively locate the child and bring her with him on his platform, allowing him to bring her back. He made sure to attach her to the platform though so she didn’t fall out.

    Mission Name: Family Issues
    Mission Type: Investigation
    Mission Rank: C
Mission Goal: Find the missing Child
Description: A family outing has turned into a tragedy when their child went missing, help in the search of the village for them.
    Payment: 15k
    Requirements: D-Class
Another interesting mission involving someone missing, but this time a young boy who had wandered off at the markets and disappeared. The village was quite large so it seemed unlikely that he would be kidnapped and was more likely lost but the village took the contract seriously anyway. Gyeong was placed upon one of the investigative squads to search as a sensor, using his abiitiies to search around and he had been given the signature from the sensory barrier and sensor core. It was a little alarming that they should have this information on people but that show a military state worked he guessed. The teams were sent in different quadrants of the market and sent on a cohesive pattern of exploration so he was merely a part, but was essentially escorted by a few other ninja as he focuses on the sensory skills to appropriately find the child. The search took a couple hours and he was not the person to find the child in the end, but he was able to confirm quite a few neighborhoods as not having the child, which was about as useful anyway. Had it drug on, they would have had a great mount of information to ensure they had not missed anything.

    Mission Name: Breaking Rocks
    Mission Type: Chore
    Mission Rank: C
Mission Goal: work a shift in one of the metal mines
Description: Help the miners get some metal out, be careful as the metal will drain chakra. Follow the instructions of the mine foreman and get the job done.
    Payment: 15k
    Requirements: C-Class

It had been a bit of time since he had gone on an official mission, having gallivanted all about the island of the chunin exams and going through a negotiation. He supposed that technically he had done at least one mission there with the kage and Ghost, capturing some bandits and preventing them from interfearing with the ore mines. Fitting and a bit funny in fact now thath he eas helping outw with the mining of ores now, particulalry that of the special chakra draining metal that seemed to form only at these locations in iwa. He was not paricularly brawny or anything but Tak went down any how. the foreman handed him a pick and sent him to work with everyone else, and he got to work on teh rocks, essentially usnig it as some excercise first. Eventually he reverted to his earth techniques to exgtract a greater amount, which brought some postiive comments from teh hworkers. It seemed that the mine expected this sort of chakra enhanced help from the ninja who came every so often to aide, and he was more than happy to give it as they all decided on who would get the first round tonight once they got to the bars later. For Tak, he had to head out to his next mission.

    Mission Name: Trouble Squared
    Mission Type: Combat
    Mission Rank: C
    Mission Goal: Defeat the Ruffians
Description: Some young hooligans are causing trouble in Hòu Zhuān Square, go see that it comes to a stop. They are not to be killed, their just kids that are acting out.
    Payment: 15k
    Requirements: D-Class

On heading to his next misison and activity of the day he was suddenly stopped by one of the village guardds who had been on patrol, telling him of a new issue that had developed. Two ruffians were in the merchant quarter causing all manner of problems and they were asking for someone to come stop them. Naturally survaillance personelle did not have much business doing that unless there were no other options and he was another option, so he headed out. His sand attacks were still rather weak and slow and hiis wind attacks were proficient but entirely too leathahl, so he would probably need to lay a trap. They seemed to be interested in mostly wonton theft only to turn around and trash the place and were moving rather chaotically, but they had a certain direction they seemed to be moving in. Controlling a large mass of his chakra draining sand, he would spread it in a few key ally ways, instruction that security start a small evacuation. Waiting for them to come, he would entrap them in the sand as they passed, not only allowing them to fall into a blanket of quicksand but importantly draining thier chakra over time. his sensory indicated they have little in  the way of reserves and as such they would quickly find themselves restrained and he would hand them over to the person who initially asked for his help.

Mission Name: A Hunting We will Go
    Mission Type: Logistics
    Mission Rank: C
    Mission Goal: Hunt some animals
Description: There is a need for meat within the village, go hunting in the Great Chang Mountains for some animals and bring them back for the butcher.
    Payment: 15k
    Requirements: C-Class

He was now running late to his last assignment of the day due to having to have to stop those hooligans running rampant and then taking them to the proper authorities, so he scrambled to the butcher and appologized, but he the man seemed quite pset but did not really do anything to stop him. He supposed he had little in the way of options at this point. He headed out for the hunt, finding that tracking the beasts for meat to be rathehr simplistic with both his chakra sensory as well as his ability to see the magnetic spectrum. At first he tried with a simple bow and arrows, but quickly found his skills highly lacking, and eventually he moved to some of his magnet release abilities, though with the exception of a squirel here or there his abilities wre still too slow. He next then magnitized the arrows, tryning to use his magnet release to guide the shots to his targets and this was a little more helpful as he could make small alterations to the path of the arrow but even then it was quite slow. He struck a wild boar, but it become enranged and started to charge at him even from a hundred meters away, and there ws a flash of danger. The arrow had struck but not killed, and he felt a brief moment of fear before soemthing came to his mind. As the creature drew near, he flfashed his chhakra, a blade of wind manifesting and easily beheading the enemy, ending it quickly. From then on he went with his wind abilities, as they were faster and stronger. he felt he learned a useful lesson of the base powers afforded to him that at least currently surpassed his current abilities of freeform manipulation.

    Mission Name: Herbology
    Mission Type: Foraging
    Mission Rank: C
Mission Goal: Find various plants and herbs from around the Chang Mountain Range.
Description: The local Greenhouse keeper has requested a Shinobi to go out into the Mountain Range around the village and gather the various herbs that grow there and bring them back for study.
    Payment: 15k
    Requirements: C-Class

Waking again, Tak would go down dutifully to the mission board to collect a host of tasks that needed his completion, or really the completion of someone at the very least. He supposed that any one could complete these but of course theh important part was that some one had to it did not so much atter who but it was really for his own development more than anythingg. This particular mission intriguued him quite a bit as he had no real knowledge of herbs or anything of hte sort and so he headed down to the greenhouse to collect the delivery and bring it bakc to the local medics. Thhe real bulk and importance of the mission was of couruse not a simple delivery which was internal and had such little difficuulty or threat that it hardly mattered but that he spend part of the day with the chemists who taught him some simple but useful thigns a bout vairous herbs and such that grew domestically as well as a broad. Some of them were vaguely toxic, some were good to help staunch bleeding, and some were rather useful in their ability to disinfect wounds which was so useful in the battle field. They weren't at war now but it was always possible they coudl be in the future and this kind of basic field mediince would easily be the difference between life and death. Mission accomplished and herbs studied. Really a two for one.

Mission Name: Can't we all Get along?
    Mission Type: Diplomacy
    Mission Rank: C
Mission Goal: Resolve the tension between the clan heads
Description: Two of our Clan leaders have been butting heads, now threat of full war is being thrown around. Get in there and help them resolve their issues peacefully.
    Payment: 15k
    Requirements: D-Class

Now this one was not so much up Tak's alley but was very much in line with Chinatsu, so he figured i would not be too terribly difficult. The difficulties of the clan leadeers had bubbled upu and they were at each others throats, which hhpapneed from time to time even in the most peaceful of villages as the clans gnerallyy held a great deal of political and miliatry power within the village. It seemed disputed had risen over which would get to have first dibs and the most illustrious and choice missions, which seemed silly as there were plenty to go around, though she also realized that much of this was for people to prove them selves more so than actually accompish the missions. Tak was able to understand to a certain degree, despite how pragmatic he was more so than a glory seeker. For his idea was simple though and he created a new mission, a kind of gauntlet of missions which were separated between the two clans and which they needed to race to compete. Each unit would try to do the most and the winner would be given a single special request to have a diplomatically valuable mission, not blanket control. He proposed they engage in this ever year as a kind of sport show which could attracted tourists and be kind oflike their own miniature chunin exams as well.

    Mission Name: Boar-d
    Mission Type: Combat

Mission Goal: Eliminate the Wild Boars
Description: A small settlement not far from Iwagakure has had some trouble with Boars, go there and help them rid the land of the beasts.
    Payment: 15k
    Requirements: C-Class

This one was quite similar to a previous one, though upgraded. His last ission of thhe dya wuld see him exterminating a collection of wild board, which he had previously fought one with a a group and it proved more formidible than one might otherwise have anticipated. He spent a good deal of time scouting ouut their haunt and making note of hte routes that they took, noting that htye tended to migrate occasionally to a local food source and that thhis would be hte place that he mounted his attack and sprung his assault. He would spred a great deal of his iron sand all around theh ground to hide it but allow the enemies to eventually congraage thee as they grew hugry for the night. Form this point he could form the sand into a kind of caltrop effect but much more devistating and deadly, ruining the legs of thebeasts which he had grown to fear as they were quite capable of powerful charges which wee highly dangerous. With this approahc, even if they did not die right away they would be incapacitated, which woudl prove valuable for him but he would merciffully end them after this to remove any suffering. It was a powerful way of going about the fight and was made more effective by his recent training, allowing him to move his sand more quickly and in a more deadly fasahion.

    Mission Name: Tusk Shit
    Mission Type: Combat
    Mission Rank: C
Mission Goal: Find out what happened to the boars.
Description: Investigation into the wild boars that attacked the settlement reveals rabies, find out where these beast came from and the extent of the rabies. If there are more take care of them as well
    Payment: 15k
    Requirements: Completed "Boar-d"

For the following day, Tak needed to leave the village briefly to investigate the location from which these various wild boar attacks had come, and so he flipped on his sensory as he began trailing the hogs, winding backwards on their paths to whatever kind of home den they had to call their own. Moving through the stony paths and the bits of underbrush was not easy and was not fast, especially because he needed to go rather slowly so as to remain as quiet as he was able so as to not scare the boars and prevent them from returning home. Eventually he wound through the paths to a small little cave, more of a grotto than anything, and he sidled up to the wall, expanding his sensory through the cave as he had in his mission with Ghost and the kage. He expanded his sensory skills as far as he could, finding a few signatures shallowly inside of the structure. Straining his ears, he tried to pick up what they might be saying, but could not. He then sent chakra into his eyes to resonate his magnetic chakra, taking a deeper look through the cave. He thought, slowly coming to a realization of what this - and some of the crates - could be. He thought these hogs might actually be drug mules.

He thought back to the mission board from this morning, attempting to recall what one of the missions had to say about a drug cartel that was potentially active. If he remembered correctly, there was very little information about them, but he was somewhat shocked that no one had put together the boar attacks with the drugs. He could not fully piece everything togethehr, but perhaps they were releasing the boars to attack locations as a kind of distraction to distribute drugs. It didn't sound.... that sophisticated actually so it was a little shocking that it worked, but he was no criminal so he could not speak to how they might think. He hunkered down, waiting and biding his time as the day drew on, noting the comming and going of one single person with a cart before, eventually, 2 of the 3 signatures left the location. As they passed his range of knowledge, he slipped into the cave, already extending his sand out from himself and his lanturn. He made a single but obvious noise, rattling a nearby box as the man left asked if they had forgotten something, but clearly did not ascertain the threat. By the time he looked up, a half ton of iron sand was already washing over him, binding and muffling him before lightly suffocating him until he lost consiouclness, but not enough to kill him. He'd then move on to his next phase to capture those returning.

He had to act quickly, as he had no idea when the next people came back, so he set up a classic trap of his, extending his sand about the room, weaving it lightly into a kind of net strewn across the rocky floor. Anyone dragging their feet would distrupt it, but it mostly blended in and would simply seem like dirt and dust. The majority he would hide in the crates and behind them, tucked into nooks and crannies and the like, keeping a wide amount of his iron sand out but hidding in plain sight. Then, he would hide himself, making use of his cloak of invisibility technique, as well as the rather low lighting and monotonous appearnace of the place. He slid the unonscious man into the center of the cave, righ tnext to a work bench near where he had first found him. And then he waited. It took perhaps an hour, maybe a bit less, but eventually three new signatures came into his view, two from before and a new one. He sniffened and raised his cloak, waiting... waiting. When they saw the unconsious man, one ran over to him as one looked back to the entrance, suddenly on guard. The final man immediatly began trying  to investigate the stock of drugs in the crates, ascertaining if they were robbed. He waited perhaps 30 sec as they ran about bewilderingly before he sprung, suddenly taking control of all of the iron and haivng it rush to the enemies. It would rush up around them, buryig them as it rained their oxygen as well as their chakra, just enough to lauch them into unconsciousness as well. Hhe would then place them and himself to a platform and float it back to the village, taking them and the drugs as well to arrest them.
