The morning sun had peeked over the horizon as the golden light shined through the closed window. The rhythmic beeps could be heard as Tatsuya felt his consciousness coming back. In the whole time that Tatsuya was unconscious, the Volcanic Demon could only dream of one thing. A separate life where he enjoyed life as a philosopher, his wife and child beside him, watching his son growing up. It was, in short, a blissful dream that Tatsuya had nearly forgotten what transpired. The critical moment that took everything Tatsuya held dear, and the moment anger and vengeance filled his heart like a raging flame.
Like a sheet of white, everything was overshadowed by a blinding light before a thunderous crack deafened his ears. By the time Tatsuya blinked to recover his eyesight again, the area where his wife and son resided in were nothing but husks of ash frozen in time. They stood in a crater of heat as glowing embers could be seen. Only his family eventually crumbled, and Tatsuya’s grief filled rage overflowed to the point where he stirred awake.
In the heat of the moment, he couldn’t tell which was reality and which was a dream as he suddenly sat up followed by a blood curdling war cry that dripped heavy with venom as the sheer rage showed. Veins could be seen spider webbing along his arms and neck. Cowering in the corner was a nurse with a clipboard in front of her like it was pepper spray. Her eyes were wide as she was terrified from a patient who suddenly woke up in such an aggressive manner. As the former jounin began to realize where he was, his voice died down as Tatsuya took a moment to recover his breathing.
Suddenly bursting through the door was the hospital’s security as they had their weapons nearly drawn and ready to defend. However, when they saw the nurse and the once comatose patient, one of them was a middle aged man who addressed Tatsuya in a firm tone.
”Sir, I need you to refrain from causing loud noises in the hospital. Harass any of our staff again, and you will find yourself in jail.” Whether the words didn’t get through the Tatsuda or not remained to be seen, but the menacing bloodlust barely masked behind tired eyes as he glared at the guards.
”Ever heard of a yawn in the morning? I’ll be out of your hair in a minute.” If it was one thing to simply say it with respect, it might have been okay. However, the tone that Tatsuya had left the guard offended by it. The man’s face began to become flush with frustration, but as the guard approached Tatsuya.
”Tatsuya Tatsuda, a man who brought destruction and ruin upon his clan by rotting away in bed while the world burned in flames,” the guard grabbed a nearby chair to sit close to Tatsuya. From the body language to the wild look in the man’s eye, Tatsuya got the sense that he’s just waiting for an excuse to throw Tatsuya in jail. As much as Tatsuya would love to indulge the man. He figured that sitting in jail because of it would just be a waste of his time. Noting Tatsuya’s silence, the guard egged him on further.
”I bet you have no clue as to what has happened over the years, but I bet you know that because of your absence. You have no rank, you are no longer military, and in short you’ve become a worthless body that’s a waste of resources. If it were up to me, I would’ve unplugged your life support a long time ago.” This man could not be serious, right? Tatsuya thought as he genuinely wondered if the man had gone off the deep end. What stick crawled up his ass? Either way, Tatsuya was starting to feel the rage build up again even after he did all of that work to calm down.
”But I suppose after what happened to your family, it's no wonder why you collapsed. Maybe their deaths were a mercy, because then they wouldn’t have to see what a pathetic man you turned ou-!” Suddenly the man’s words died in his throat as Tatsuya’s swift reflexes snatched the needle that was in his arm and quickly jammed the needle into the guard’s eye. What was once words, turned in cries of agony as he reeled back to the floor and held his face where the needle had struck. In truth, Tatsuya could not take the man’s slander anymore especially when it came to the insult to his family. In a heartbeat, the two remaining guards leapt to action as they pulled out their batons. Tatsuya caught a smack on the cheek before he threw the blanket up to somewhat block the second attack. A misdirection as Tatsuya moved along the force of the blow in order to roll off from the bed. Multiple patches were pulled off as Tatsuya felt a sharp pain in his left forearm. He grimaced as he pulled the needle out, but then he caught another smack from a baton across his back.
The nurse had long been gone as apparently the guards had ushered her out once their ringleader started to berate the patient. Despite his years of slumber, Tatsuya quickly turned as he grabbed the wrist before the baton could smack for a third time. Granted the guard was standing over Tatsuya, but with a sharp kick to the guard’s shin and a rough pull. The guard fell hard into Tatsuya’s raised knee as it connected against the guard’s throat. His eyes widened from shock as he suddenly dropped all attempts to subdue the patient. The last guard apparently had checked on their ringleader, but after seeing his companion getting handled like a ragdoll.
Tatsuya barely had the time to stand up to his feet when the last guard charged up with a baton in hand. Even so, the Tatsuda barely hesitated as he quickly stepped inside the guard’s zone. Followed by grabbing the guard by wrapping his arms around the core of the guard’s body, Tatsuya threw the man over him and into the second guard. With a sharp kick to the man’s hand, Tatsuya broke something as the man cried out and began to hold his hand in an attempt for the pain to recede.
After what was said and done, Tatsuya dusted himself off and set out to collect his things. The receptionist was incredibly nice, so as Tatsuya was retrieving his things, ”You might want to check room 0901. It’s a bit messy there.” and on that note, Tatsuya started to leave the premises.
