Unique Abilities:
Seal-less Casting: Asuka is able to perform Medical techniques without using hand seals. No gestures are needed to cast a jutsu, however, he must still gather and manipulate his chakra, as well as follow other requirements, in order to use these techniques. This merely eliminates the hand signs, not the “tells” or charge up time as a whole.
Appearance:
His hair can be described as unusual for a ninja in several ways. Not only is it far longer than most shinobi would dare wear theirs, but it is also silver as a result of his long time in a sickly and comatose state. Though healthy now, the pale coloration remains in his hair. His skin is naturally paler than normally found in his village, easy to burn in the harsh sun and seemingly unscarred. His eyes are the only thing that does not retain a pale color, being a nice dark brown with long lashes framing them. There is a red dot tattooed onto his forehead.
History: It does not take a genius to realize Asuka doesn’t look like he belongs, either as a ninja or in Sunagakure. His pale skin tone came from his father, who was born far away in another country. His mother was the young miss of a rich merchant family, who’d travelled with her father on business and met an ordinary chuunin who would change her life. In the scant few months they were away from Sunagakure, the woman had fallen in love and was soon pregnant with the Chuunin’s child. However, her lover was killed in battle not a day after she’d told him of her pregnancy. Heartbroken and bitter, she returned to Sunagakure with her father. Months later, baby Asuka was born. For the first three years, his life was ordinary, and he was loved as any other child. But eventually, things changed.
The first was his grandfather’s passing, and his mother inheriting his small fortune. Now with riches, and a young gullible woman, his mother was eventually lured in by a cult that spoke of the ability to permanently resurrect her lost love. Anybody could tell it was a lie, but entranced by the idea of having her love back, she was soon trapped by their lie and completely ensnared in their spell. Soon, she got the idea into her head to train Asuka as a weapon for the cult. By then her logic was skewed, as her sanity was slowly leaving her, but she was soon training his physical and mental capabilities before he even turned 5. Asuka, being a child, didn’t question it at first. In fact, he didn’t question it for many years.
When he was old enough, he was enrolled in the shinobi academy in hopes that he’d learn new skills while still being under his mother’s control. She did her best to indoctrinate his way of thinking, but the always kind Asuka started to truly question her motives when she started saying it was okay to hurt people if the strange people who always came to visit her asked. That he was to listen to them no matter what. And when he became a genin, he outright started to defy her orders, choosing to specialize in Iryojutsu after a lengthy talk with his sensei. His mother was furious, and his choice earned him beatings, but he was adamant in not hurting anyone.
When his mother calmed down, she realized his choice could be used to harm just as easily, and forced him to start learning chemistry in addition to his medical, telling him he was not her son and would be sleeping on the streets from then on if he did not. He still loved his mother, and reluctantly agreed. He couldn’t entirely comply with her wishes, but a part of him still wanted to be loved and accepted. He kept the secret, knowing full well that his mother and those people would likely be arrested or worse if they found out about the abuse, and the plot to use him as their weapon.
For a while, things were fine, and Asuka was able to balance pleasing his mother with his own morals. But, things changed after a single mission that saw Asuka and his team completely broken apart. His teammate, who’d never liked him, had shoved Asuka backwards in frustration. Much to the horror of everybody, a ravine that had been well hidden was only a few feet away. Not able to steady himself in time, and not having any skills that could save him, Asuka went over the edge. Through some absolutely miraculous luck, and the quick actions of his sensei, who had had some basic medical knowledge, he survived but was seriously injured. While the sensei had gone down into the ravine to help Asuka, the teammate who’d shoved him attempted to flee, fearing the consequences and deciding being a missing ninja was better than being punished. The third teammate could only watch, dumbfounded, as her team more or less broke right in front of her.
She couldn’t go after her other teammate, but she also couldn’t go help her sensei. While their sensei was trying to stabilize Asuka enough to get him to a proper medic, the girl remained frozen for quite a while, only coming to when she realized she had to help find a way to get Asuka out of the ravine. It took a long while, and their mission was considered a failure, but through luck they managed to make it out with Asuka and eventually take him back home to report what had happened. Even though they’d managed to save Asuka, at the age of 14 he was in a coma and not looking to wake up any time soon.
It was looking unlikely he’d survive long enough to wake up, but his mother was too determined to keep her “weapon” that she’d invested time and money into. Instead, she hired the best medical specialists she could afford to keep him alive and try to wake him up. 10 years went by like this, with no sign of Asuka waking up. During this time although his physical wounds were gradually healed, his body atrophied, and his hair turned white. His body was not growing, and he stayed the same size as he was when he was 14, a diminutive 5’2”. He woke up a few weeks after his 24th birthday, weak and unable to move, but alive and conscious. It took months of physical therapy to get back his physical capabilities.
Asuka was being pushed by his mother to recover faster, get strong again, but he took things at his own pace and eventually healed enough to return to light duty without fear. Now, he is ready for a new team, and has vowed to get stronger in order to keep whichever new team he joins together and safe.
Personality: Asuka is, and always will be, a kind soul by nature. He believes in peace, and refuses to hurt people if he can help it. Despite all of his mother’s attempts to manipulate him, and becoming a shinobi, he refuses to let go of his convictions. He chose to become a medic, and he will help instead of hurt no matter who tries to make him do otherwise. He’s not easily swayed, and holds firm in his beliefs, though he can’t be called closed minded either. He’s open to other perspectives, he just won’t necessarily agree with them.
Despite his determination to do things on his own terms, Asuka is in fact very shy and soft spoken when his morals aren’t in danger of being compromised. He’s the moral support, usually, mostly there for soft encouraging phrases and patching up his friends or teammates when they get into trouble. He won’t jump headfirst into the fray and fight, though he would jump in front of a friend, teammate, or ally to protect them.
He also believes in treating everybody well, and treats anybody from the tiniest civilian child to the most elite Jounin commander with respect regardless of who they are. With Asuka, nobody is ever treated as lesser, and everybody’s opinions will be heard out, if not necessarily agreed with. Because if this respectful treatment, he’ll often find himself volunteering and doing favours for others when not on active duty as a shinobi. He’s also rather fond of rehabilitating stray animals, and in the event he ever gets his own place, will more than likely have quite a few normal, non shinobi pets around.

Notes: This was an actual post with Asuka for a bijuu event on another site.
The force of the bomb exploding outside the dome was nearly enough to knock Asuka off his feet, and some civilians were knocked off their feet. The rumbling and shaking of the earth has the silver-haired man gritting his teeth, eyes wide with a determination to hold on as long as possible. Having no choice but to keep going the man stood straight against the explosion, only releasing the jutsu after he was sure it was safe. The damage had been immense- while his barrier had held it would not withstand another hit.
The sight that greeted him was a solemn one- everything nearby that hadn’t been covered by his dome was destroyed as if they were made of glass. Rubble was scattered as far as the eye could see, fire and screams and death everywhere. What on earth was this beast to hold such power? The death and destruction had to be stopped before there was nothing left here entirely.
While most would’ve expected him to look at the civilians, or charge the beast, what Asuka did instead was let out a long and piercing whistle. Moments later a glowing blue heron, nearly as tall as him, came swooping in from some place on the edge of the village, where the destruction was not. There was a grim expression on the heron’s face that matched his master’s, and the pair nodded to each other. Asuka didn’t need to explain to Mitsuaki, the heron could only really heal and use a singular sensory ability. Man and bird looked at each other, and each went their separate ways. Mitsuaki went to scout for injured but living civilians, his sensory ability still with a limited range. Meanwhile, Asuka himself looked at the scared and desperate people before him and made a choice.
“You, you leaf shinobi. Can you get the civilians out?” He’d ask, barely pausing for an answer from the man in question, Shikatama, before continuing his speech, “they need to be taken out of here. They can’t stay here or they’ll all die. I have the best chance of holding this thing off with my chains and barriers, please escort them to safety. I may be able to calm it, or scare it off.” He’d say, his intentions quite clear. He would hold the thing off while the civilians were brought to safety. He was not sacrificing himself- his gut told him he would not be able to beat this beast, but he knew that there were other ways to end this than simply defeating the creature in combat. They just had to give him the chance.
