Vision for the Future

Nyguyen was seated in the observation room of Konoha's elite surgery wing. This portion of the building was reserved for those medical procedures that were of national importance. The sensitive nature of today's operation called for a specialist and Nyg could think of no one more well suited to the task than Akihiro Uchiha. The patient, Ari Dokuma, would be laying on her back on an operating table with all the necessary medical implements and provisions surrounding her. The pair of eyes that were taken from Chika would be resting nearby ready to be implanted. Nyguyen had a stern expression but internally he was worried sick. The Hokage's forehead was damp with sweat and he felt faint but he knew he had to see this through. It was because of him that Ari was now blind and the least he could do was oversee the operation. Satomi would likely be standing guard nearby to ensure that the procedure went smoothly. Akihiro as the designated surgeon was free to begin at his leisure although if he waited too long, Nyg himself might need a doctor.

Ari laid on the lone medical bed as she was unconscious. Near oblivious as to what was really going on, but one thing was clear. This surgery was to grant Ari the ability to see again. At first she hated the fact that she was blind, but ever since she woke up on the day Chika was executed. Ari has trained diligently in the arts of Ijutsu. Even to the point of weaponizing the very same art into fortifying herself or to heal others. In other words, she was becoming a field medic more or less. The only problem was that she still couldn't see what she was doing.

Akihiro showed up as promised to perform the surgery. He had a ton of problems to deal with at the moment, but he'd promised he'd try his best to get Ari's vision back so he made time to show up at the hospital today. Well equipped the the best materials and technology the village could provide, Akihiro began the process of cutting out the nerves that couldn't be restored and healing the ones that could. Then he'd carefully take the eyes that had been remove from Chikamatsu and he'd implant them one at a time into each of Ari's empty eye sockets. The whole process was fairly quick considering Akihiro had both the confidence and the coordination to execute the surgery swiftly.
After it was done, he'd signal Nyguyen and vanish once again. He'd taken care of the Hokage's protege but his own student was in a very poor condition and he needed to go care for her.

Ari remained motionless throughout the entire surgery process as she was unconscious. The drugs helped a ton to allow the experience to be as painless as possible. Implanting eyes could be nerve-wracking. Even so the process would end smoothly, but the main problem however. It dissolved into how Ari's body took the implanted eyes.

Nyguyen almost fell out of his chair as he watched Akihiro operate. The anticipation was killing him and it was only after he was seeing black spots in his vision that he realized that he was holding his breath. Nyg's physical expression probably wouldn't affect Aki's performance and given the thick glass wall separating them no sound was liable to disturb the surgeon either. Nyguyen stood up and watched as Akihiro finished up and walked out of the room. The black man assumed that the task had been completed successfully but he couldn't be sure. All he saw was blood, surgical tools, and a lot of state of the art medical equipment.

Ari honestly couldn't tell how well the surgery was going due to her unconscious state. However, to those who knew better watched over the girl's body while checking her pulse and monitoring her heart rate. After some time had passed, the nurses bandaged Ari's head. Then the nurse proceeded to place Ari on a clean medical bed, and there Ari found warmth as the metal table was cold to the touch. The air itself felt like it was trying to freeze her body.

So far, the surgery seemed to be a miraculous success as the eyes were not rejected by her body. Not even a resistance was formed as Ari's body perfectly accepted the organs. However, eyes were a sensitive case as it'll take time for Ari to adjust to the eyes. Perhaps even longer to truly make fully use out of them.

The surgery had been a success. Nyguyen took a deep breath and the color returned to his face. Thanks to the efforts of his Head Strategist Ari would be able to see again. The Hokage gathered himself and left but not before checking in with the doctors and making sure that Ari would be completely taken care of. She'd need time to heal and rest up but once all was said and done she'd have better vision than she had before. Nyg did not consider it a blessing given whose life had been forfeited for her to have those eyes but it did make him feel better about the disastrous mission he had led them on.
