Unique Abilities:
Goddess of the Storm - Calypso's mastery of Storm Release is seemingly ingrained into her body. She is highly capable with it, and receives less of a drain when using it, lowering the chakra price for all her Storm Release techniques by one rank. As a result, her Water Release is weakened, increasing the prices of all her Water Release techniques by one rank.
Appearance:
The Storm Queen Calypso Tethys is a curvaceous woman in her late twenties with a picturesque physique, truly it is a body to kill for. She is around the average height for a woman of her age, and especially so for an elf such as she. Her beauty can be described as nothing other than womanly, what all girls aspire to be when they reach adulthood. She has a slender build, however this cannot and should not be taken to mean that she is weak or under-powered. And woe be to he who assumes such. She has been called many names because of her looks, beautiful and otherworldly being the most cmmon, due to not only her appearance but her deadly abilities. Calypso's skin is a deep brown color, which can only be described as a
Calypso's choice of attire can be described as little other than provocative. Her style is an amalgamation of fan service and traditional dress, forming a rather enticing and elegant image despite the amount of skin she shows. She wears a simple strapless red dress with black and dark red trim as well as golden ties, sporting two slits up her thighs in order to allow for range of movement. The dress falls just below her knees and only covers about three quarters of her breasts, leaving little to the imagination in terms of cleavage. Around her midsection is a black obi-esque garment with a golden rope tied around it to form a bow in the back. This rope sports a polished red bead over Calypso's stomach. She wears thigh-high black socks that expose her toes and comfortable grey sandals. Sleeves that start at mid-bicep and end partially concealing her hands decorate her arms, with more golden ropes decorating the top. Around her neck she wears a black collar, a gold choker and a silver pendant joining the cloth garment on her throat. All of this pulled together paints the picture of a rather
When under the guise of Sao Cheng, her appearance changes ever so slightly. She grows from her usual height to a rather impressive 5'11", while her hair shortens to a shorter, yet similarly wild mane. The shape of her body stays mostly the same, her eyes change from brown to a rather unique and impressive shade of Chinese violet. She dons a short sleeved button down shirt, a violet plaid skirt, black tights and black heels. She keeps a sweater tied around his waist, and a plaid tie loosely around her neck.
- The Raikage:
- The Dread Queen:
History: Calypso was born in the year 898 AS, and thus was raised within times of war for most of her formative years. She was trained to fight, to hate the Hozuki because of their war and their feud. At a young age, she took up arms and joined in on naval battles, though with only a minimal part to play, her father being a fearless captain of a ship and her mother being his first mate. They each mastered a form of the Inazuma clan's Kekkei Genkai, her mother mastering the storm clouds while her father mastered the liquid lighting. The war ended upon her eighth birthday, her family settling down to help forge Kumogakure. Calypso herself was placed into formal training with a tutor from the academy to refine her skills, while her parents became Jonin who helped to lead the village.
Calypso trained with her tutor as hard as she possibly could, coming out as a kunoichi that surpassed even the skills of Kumo's most elite. Introduced to the Ninja Arts more formally, Calypso took to them like a fish to water. She was a form of prodigy, training to be her absolute best when it came to fighting, in case war broke out with the Hozuki again. Peace didn't always last after all, and she wanted to be able to help push them back in any way she could. She had graduated the academy in the space of just under a year, earning her headband and becoming a Genin. Within a few days of her promotion, her mother's health began to degrade from a sickness that many of their medics didn't know how to combat. It seemed to be highly resistant to chakra-based treatment methods, and their medicine did nothing to stay its advance. They were all sure she would be lost.
Pushing her mother's inevitable loss to the back of her mind, Calypso spent her teen years focusing on what was important for the defense of her new home: combating the Hozuki and Kirigakure. Battles still broke out, often over assets and resources that both villages wanted to lay claim to. She fought with a grace and power that one would not attribute to a lone teenager, having mastered the cloud variation of her clan's Storm Release, her use of it earning her the moniker of "The Storm Queen". She heard tell of another prodigy sweeping through the battle fields, people fearing the Chinoike child as a devil. She focused on herself, however and bettering her own skills. Her ability to lead others fearlessly into battle and come out the victor more often than not marked her as a person to watch. In the few months before the treaty between the villages was struck to stop the hostilities, Calypso saw her father die on the battle field. On that day she knew what it meant to truly lust for blood and death, slaughtering many of her enemies that she came across. When she returned to her home, bringing the news to her mother, she witnessed her second loss within the span of a few short days. It was obvious that her father was the pillar for most of her mother's strength, and once he was gone she had little to tether herself to the mortal world. She passed peacefully in her sleep, though Calypso was left alone.
After her fearful display in the battle that claimed her father's life, Calypso was deemed among the village's most fearful and skilled combatants, earning the title of Shodaime Raikage. Before the village had simply been headed by a council compounded of the heads of all the clans, but now they found a solid leader within Calypso. At the same moment she was elected as the head of her village, she was also elected as the head of her clan. Much responsibility was placed upon a girl of only eighteen, but Calypso knew she could bear whatever upon her shoulders and hold her head high. She began to feel the weight of her responsibilities after she took them on, but she found a form of haven in the arms of a fellow Kumo-nin. She found that she loved him with a ferocity that she hadn't felt before. With him, she could bear her titles without worry. She held the power to topple mountains and lead her village to glory with him at her side. After around two years of being together, they conceived a child, though it seemed they weren't meant to be. Calypso miscarried and the stress from that caused her to regress into herself, slacking in her duties as a Clan Head and a Kage. When it was put forth by Seigi that she step down, she took the chance gladly. Rather than becoming Daimyo, she stepped down from leading her clan and left another to do that while she simply...left.
Calypso took a ship under the pretenses of finding different resources at sea for the village and set sail. While she decided she would look for whatever she could to aid her village, but he also wanted to "find herself" in a sense. She spent quite a few years on the seas, encountering several issues for her village that she thought of ways they could rectify. Her travels brought battles and a small sense of adventure, returning her to her former self in some capacity. She had formed a rather large network of pirates and smugglers in order to sneak past the blockades on the Land of Lightning's ships. In that time she adopted an alias and used her Ninjutsu to change her appearance so that Calypso was not associated with the world of piracy. She returned to her village to give tell of what she had seen and ways they could enrich their sea-based trading routes. She returned to a Kage that was no better than she was when she was suffering from the depression of losing her child. She decided that she would take back her office and do what she should've been doing all this time: she would lead.
Personality: Calypso prefers to think about what she says before she says it mainly because she knows she is highly sarcastic and often people take offense to that. As a result she can be seen as quiet but that is only because she is thinking about the best way to word something. She has a rather pushy personality and when she wants something she gets it the most efficient way possible. However it doesn't mean she is one to steamroll through everything, as she knows when to be prim and proper, when to scheme and when to compromise. If anything she has now fully accepted the role of a leader, and is charismatic often speaking pleasing words to get people to see her way and thus push her agenda forward. However she possesess a small phobia in regards to expressing her feelings to others, especially those she has come to care for. This might stem from the fact that many of the people who had ever loved have died. She is honest when it comes to her family and expects honesty from them, the only thing coming close to her "family" in terms of priority being the citizens of Kumo. She cares deeply for those she views as family and would do anything for them, yet at the same time she does not tolerate betrayal and can be quite ruthless if she is crossed. This is because she keeps grudges, and will bide her time until the exact moment to settle said grudge often dishing out worse than what was done to her.
She doesn't see herself as particularly vengeful even though she is no stranger to using torture and the like. No, Calypso is the type of person who is loving to her family, quiet to her friends and acquaintances and ruthless to her enemies. She has somewhat overcome the depression that had settled in when she lost her child, though it is still a sore spot for her. She is also prone to playing roles, as she knows she is a pillar within Kumogakure and thus will act the part as Calypso Tethys being a quiet woman who's actions speak louder than her words. Similarly she moonlights as a pirate and smuggler, the captain of the a large network of pirates and seeks to be the lord over the entire criminal underworld at sea having no qualms with lying, killing and torturing her way to achieve said ambition. She created the alias Sao Cheng so she could be herself and not have to deal with the enemies that she would make in the political or criminal world. The reasoning is simple, while she might be capable of many things, her actions don't define who she really is; anything that she does in the name of her village is just...buisness.

- "Indeed, those are thoughts I would expect a leader of my clan to have, questioning if they are really on the right path or if they have become blinded by their own power. I remember having such thoughts on three occasions of my life, all of which pushed me to be a better leader to the clan in the long run despite my initial feelings on the matter." she said leaning back though her body was still mostly obscured though if Akuma shifted her tail her eyes would be closed as the reminisced about the past. "I suppose it's only fair if I told you about myself, to say my childhood was hard was an understatement. I was born after the Era of Warring States, a period in time where the shinobi world wasn't nearly as organized as it is now, it was still mostly untamed with land having been carved up by various Daimyo and Banchou with their loyal samurai as their enforcers and guards. Ninja Clans constantly fought in their service hired by them to route out their competition whether lesser lords who tried to muscle in on their territory or former allies who had turned on them and were stealing what belonged to them. No I was raised during the Territory Wars, a period that well shaped my life and truly turned me into what I am now. she said sighing before continuing on knowing fully well that to this current generation it must have seemed like a fantasy land.
"Those times were tough, Ronin as you know them now were in service of the various temples within the Land and the settlement where I grew up was close to one. I was born in the Land of the Forsaken to my mother Selena and after me came my younger twin sister Fae. One would think our birth was a joyous thing but it was not the case my mother wasn't a fighter no she was a whore, they were common back then often while fighting members of Ibaragakure would need someone to relieve themselves while their wives were kept safe at home, my mother was one of such people. To that end I never knew my father and if that wasn't enough I was born the first of my kind a child with the dojutsu of not only the Mishura Clan but that of the Iwari as well. My sister was both lucky and yet not, she lacked either often the children that lived in our settlement would make fun of her for it calling her the reject and how I stole her eyes, still despite that I cared for my beloved little sister and made sure to protect her whenever I could. You have to understand I was born before the Iwari Clan was assimilated into the Mishura, it was a betrayal and my mother would of had to strangle me with my own umbilical cord once she saw what had happen but she didn't. Instead she hid me and told me to pretend like my sister that I wasn't born with either dojutsu. she would smile as she spoke though it wasn't of happiness but of sadness as she remembered all that she had to do to stay alive as a child.
"Still, I knew I wanted to change my living situation. I couldn't do what my mother did not ever and I had been blessed by Susanoo with the tools to succeed so I began training myself while my sister initially watched and soon began to join in. I started first with illusions as the Ronin in the temple had been kind enough to teach me simple ones and I found I had a knack for throwing weapons as well, my sister on the other hand was highly skilled in archery and stealth just like you Asura. Initially we were just stumbling along however one day while I was training on my own I met a boy by the name Raijin and it was through him that I was able to push myself seeing as he became a sort of rival to me. I was 3 at the time but over the course of six months we had sparred against each other enough times that we became quite skilled, he taught me about physical combat and I traded him my knowledge on throwing weapons, while he taught my sister the way of the sword and she traded her knowledge of stealth. For a time I was content until he had to go one day, apparently he had found a master, in those days sometimes a skilled ninja would take on an apprentice in order to pass on their techniques Raijin broke the norm as it wasn't a ninja who decided to teach him but a Samurai. After he left it wasn't the same, my sister cried a lot more and I constantly tried to talk to the ninja my mother entertained in hopes one of them would take a fancy to me and make me their apprentice." Angel said before her fists as she let out a shuddering breath before speaking once more.
"I was not so lucky as to find one, instead the last time I tried I was unfortunate enough to meet one who not only took interest in my mother but myself because of my appearance. I had always been quite a cute child truthfully, but I didn't realize it was in as much a blessing as it was a curse. Still I suppose that night was something of an equivalent exchange, he told not only my innocence but when my sister attempted to stop him her eyesight while I stole not only his life in exchange but the very contract that I possess to this day." she said with Akuma using her tail to nuzzle Angel causing her to calm down. "Did you know, Akuma was the first one I ever summoned, granted back then she was a newborn had I not been trying near the bathhouse she would of drowned on air and died, still she was just as willful as I was and held on long enough to keep me company before eventually running out of chakra and telling her father about the new summoner of the contract. I was this contract that brought me to the attention of my sensei Hinata Hokkai, leader of the Hokkai Clan which at that point in time were the dominant ninja clan within Ibaragakure. It was her clan, which decided that they wished to create a Hidden Village inspired by legends of the continent which we had all come from, and it was with her power that such a dream was made possible. My sensei was quite terrifying to be honest, how many lives the Hokkai Clan lost while attempting to seal the Kyuubi I would never know but the result of it was her a Jinchuriki...a monster without equal. I might have been hailed as the strongest Tetakage when I reached maturity but I know it was because my sensei hadn't lived long enough to reach hers. She had taken not only me but my two teammates, John Clyde and Sicily Qilin, while my sister had been taken up by one of her advisers on another team more geared for subtlety. She taught me a lot of things while before I was skilled in physical combat it was she who taught me Taijutsu, my illusions as I knew them were further refined into Genjutsu while she brought to light my chakra affinity along with Ninjutsu. She taught us while in the field battling against all the other villages closest to us, Himeigakure, Yamigakure, Tetsugakure and of course...Dipugakure. We learned on the go under the constant threat of death and when I turned 4 not only had Ibaragakure emerged victorious and was now considered one of the Great Hidden Villages but rumors of people being attacked by the Chakra Beasts had begun to surface."
She would pause for a while allowing Asura and Tikatchi to process her words before continuing once more as she wasn't done yet even though she was in fact summarizing quite a lot. "It was not long after that the Chakra Beast War began till date, whether it was because I was a child, I have never fought a more terrifying enemy. It was in that war that my squad members and I became genin it was also the war in which I would meet Raijin again. He was different and yet the same, having been apprenticed under the The God Speed himself, the founder of Kaosgakure and prior to being such a rouge Samurai who had been a known ninja killer. We fought alongside each other but managed to make time in between killing Chakra Beasts to catch up as I was just as happy to see him as he was I. It was even more shocking when I activated both of my dojutsu in order to up the ante and he flashed the Raidengan in both of his eyes. My rival was a Denkou and yet despite the rivalry between our clans or our villages not being allied I felt no hatred for him. But before we could finish talking our sensei finished their own quotas and both of us withdrew back to our respective villages." she said with a chuckle before continuing.
"Sensei teased me mercilessly for months after that bemoaning how one of her students had a boyfriend from another village, ignoring the fact that I was much too young for such things. Sicily thankfully understood that it wasn't like that at all while John resented me for it. He had a crush on me while we were younger, the bastard could never handle rejection and after that he constantly challenged me to spars hoping to attract my interest through showcasing his skills. Suffice to say it didn't work and it only made our relationship deteriorate completely opposite of the friendly rivalry I had with Raijin, I couldn't respect him his way of fighting was so contrary to what I believed in back then. But it was his soft attitude when it came to being a Shinobi that I couldn't respect he didn't believe in killing ones enemies outright as if beating them up and preaching forgiveness would ever change how the world worked. No he didn't seem to grow up even after the Chakra Beast War ended and the Chakra Beasts attacked us, it was during that war that we became Chunin and I met Raijin again though this was because he saved my sister when her squad had gotten ambushed leaving her as the last survivor. To reward him I took his virginity, shocking I know you two must have been raised thinking that I like all the other Mishura held a bitter hatred for the Denkou right? It was not the case, especially when I owed my beloved little sister's life to one of them. she said almost wistfully before continuing her life story with a frown.
"You have to understand my life was sheltered despite it's harshness my sensei and those in her league had only known constant unrestricted warfare, not this organized war against the Chakra Beasts or other villages that I myself knew. Still even that came to an end eventually, and I was a jonin at 18 by the time it closed. The 1st Shinobi world war began shortly and it was in this war that I lost three of my precious people. The first was Sicily who had been cut down while Shigakure unsealed a Bijuu in the middle of battle that she was participating in, it was infuriating but unfortunate as we never got the opportunity to repay them back in kind. Both John and I were Sannin at the time, and we didn't even have time to grieve before tragedy struck once again. This was because my second loss was my sensei, while battling that accursed Dragon Knight, the 1st Gurekage Mist Shinu. Not only him but likewise two of his Sannin the last of which would be known as the Jester Queen due to her laughter after realizing she had killed the Black Death which my sensei was called occasionally. Ibaragakure as a whole wasn't prepared for that and while we were still regaining our bearings Dipugakure struck and claimed the life...of my beloved little sister. she said her voice becoming soft while her fingers literally cracked the armrests on the throne she was seated upon.
"I told you that I was only Sannin for a couple of days, this was true. All of this happened within a week, after Sicily died my sensei followed a day after, I think it was because of her heartbreak that she couldn't fight off those Haka Nin after all Sicily had always been her favorite despite John and I being stronger. It was two days after that that Fae was killed, and I raged all the way to Subarashi finding the necessary pain in my heart to form my Armored Susanoo for the first time. I alone went and personally avenged her death, killing all who opposed me, I had perfected the Rasengauntlet at the time and it's combination with my Lightning Straight saw the deaths of all three of Dipugakure's current Sannin. I needed to draw Fae's murderer out, and he showed himself, Gerald Naito...the only other person I hate more than John. I still remember his sweet screams after I dropped him straight down the Subarashi elevator leaving a massive crater in the center of his village and nothing but his blood and viscera scattered all over it's streets. I almost burned his village to the ground in my rage, Akuma's father Faze-sama had assisted me in my rampage and by the end of it had reverse summoned me to the Salamander's home so I wouldn't complete my suicidal rampage." she said and yet besides the anger she didn't cry even though her voice was in fact choked up her head bowed low that her bangs covered her eyes.
"Losing a sibling is bad enough...but your twin is like your other half. She was the light to my darkness and I could not bear the pain so I closed it off and devoted myself to training. John opposed my ascension to Kage and we fought his Wood Human technique decked with all of his attachments to bolster its power and Faze-sama clad in my armored susanoo. I was victorious in the end though we fought for an entire day and ascended to become the 2nd Tetakage of Ibaragakure. Only my relationship with Raijin kept me sane, even through the start of the Second Shinobi World War we kept it going, long enough for me to get pregnant and him to be considered for the 2nd Yamikage spot along with Kishimoto Shinto his fellow teammate. However it was not to be...conspirators within the Mishura Clan saw to the end of that, I was to be wed to him and it would seal not only the alliance of the Denkou and Mishura but likewise Ibaragakure and Kaosgakure as neither of our villages had fought each other directly during the war. They were busy against Shigakure, Jigokugakure and Gensogakure while we had our hands filled while fighting Dipugakure, Himeigakure and Hakagakure. We were ambushed, the fighting causing me to lose not only my child but my love as well. All because of fanatics who thought that we should never consort with those from the Denkou Clan ignoring the fact that our clans shared the same origin." Angel spoke before her breath hitched and thankfully she was still covered otherwise Asura and Tikatchi would actually see tears running down her eyes.
"Did you know our dojutsu as well as the Iwari and the Denkou are all from the same source? It was something Raijin and I discovered by tracing our clans respective histories, did you know that Boy? Did you notice the similarities between that dojutsu and the Kyougan, did you notice how it integrated into the power of your Susanoo? Raijin and I dreamt of a time where our clans would become one, as it was intended to be and we had laid down the ground work for it with John offering the Dokusei Clan his scrolls on Nature Release all the while we prepared to wed. So I will not lie and say that Raijin's death didn't break me. After all I withdrew into myself and refused to feel anything, I refused to be weak, I refused to experience anymore loss and revised the training methods for my village and turned it into the Bloody Thorn. It was due to that that Ibara became known as the strongest of the Great Hidden Villages. And it was for that reason that I took over the Mishura Clan after slaughtering those who had thought they were my betters. I took the secrets of our clan to my grave unfortunately as I had only intended to keep my Contract and maybe pass it on to my sister's son when he came to ask. But it was for naught, the Kyuubi which my sensei had kept imprisoned throughout her life had returned and attempted to destroy all that I had built. she said bitterly as she recalled what had eventually led to her death.
"After repelling the creature John ambushed me in my weakened state, erecting an anti-summoning barrier and challenged my right to be Tetakage again. I tried my best but I was no match for him due to being exhausted from my previous battle and without the aid of my loyal summons. The bastard had the nerve to say that it was for my own good and for the betterment of the village as a whole. Tch...how annoying, either way now you know my life story as summarized as it was."
