Having received a peculiar letter, Chigetsu couldn’t help but be intrigued enough to break out of his shell and leave his room. At least, momentarily. Not much could convince him to leave his house these days, but getting a letter from an old friend was enough to provoke the unusual into happening. Or at least, an old acquaintance. Truth be told he didn’t know Ann all too well. They had done a mission together and spent a bit of time hanging out after that, getting to know each other… But at what point could you call yourself friends? Chigetsu wasn’t aware of social norms like that, but the time he had spent with Ann he was fond of, and as a result he was willing to look back on their time together as friendship. Which made it all the more tragic what had happened.
As one of the last people Ann had interacted with, the Yuki Clan had sent word to him that she had returned to her previous frozen state. Apparently hundreds of years old, Ann had no friends or family among the clan, and apparently this meant that there wasn’t anyone to visit her or take care of her. Not that she needed to be taken care of in her frozen state, but her apartment was collecting dust. For a long time Chigetsu had been the one paying for her apartment as well, considering she couldn’t exactly pay for it herself, something he had accepted responsibility for over a year ago without really thinking about. It wasn’t as if he particularly valued money anyway…
Stepping into her apartment now, Chigetsu would flicker on the lights. Just from the dust and cobwebs it was easy to see that nobody had come here in a long, long time. He made his way to what he assumed was the bedroom, and then… He came across her frozen form. Laid down in bed, she was stiff and cold as ice. Just being in the same room the temperature had dropped to almost uncomfortable levels. Her eyes were closed at least, but it was easy to tell that she wasn’t merely asleep, and had instead entered something akin to a frozen hibernation. It was impossible to tell when she would wake up, or if she ever would.
The way she was dressed wasn’t too different from when he had last seen her- Clad in ancient armor that was clearly out of place, both in the modern era and because she was laying in bed. It was definitely odd- But what was also odd was the fact that she was still armed. Attached to her waist was a sword, a sheathed chokuto. His eyes would gravitate to it, and after a few moments of staring he couldn’t help but reach forward for it. He shivered from the chill as his arm crossed over her slumbering body and grasped at the hilt. Slowly the half frozen blade would be pulled free of the sheath, and hefted over Ann’s body Chigetsu would stare at it. It was beautiful, of the highest quality craft that he had ever seen…
“For now… I’ll borrow this. It’s not like you need it when you’re asleep, and there are plenty of scary things happening in Kirigakure right now so… I’m really sorry, Ann.”
He gave a slight bow of his head to her sleeping form, and then he would leave her in peace.
