Time to wake up.
Her muscles ached. It was that sore feeling that came with lack of use. She desperately needed to stretch. It wasn’t just her arms or legs, but every part of her. Both her physical body and everything else. Her mind. Her ‘soul’. It had been too long since she had done anything other than hibernate, paralyzed and inactive. But after staying ‘asleep’ for so long her body was now screaming for action. She wanted to stretch everything out again, return those muscles to being used again in fear that one day she might lose it all forever. Of course, it has only been a year now. Or had it? She wasn’t the type to keep track of time. It was a leisurely lifestyle that she had settled into, an event that was entirely uncharacteristic of her. For someone who had previously been so brutal and savage she had been domesticated and turned into a housetrained kitty rather easily. Or maybe it was just that she had wanted to pretend that she was big and strong? Maybe her true nature had always been this domesticated, lashing out at the human world because of the harsh life she had known previously.
Either way, Ikomiki wasn’t the sort to revel in those speculative thoughts of her own nature. She was an animal. After a year of living casually with Akihiro she wanted to move again. Stretch her muscles. Stretch her abilities. She wanted to feel adrenaline, to bite and be bitten in return. That sort of excitement that would make her feel really alive. That was what it meant to be an animal.
Akihiro, who had proved time and time again to be the ideal patron, had provided her with several toys in order for her to play around with. Training on her own and learning these unique skills would provide her the perfect warm up to begin honing her power again. First this, then she would engage in some real sparring, and then her teeth and claws would be sharp again. Of course, there was one problem. In order to learn these techniques she would be forced to read. It was unfortunate, but she had no other choice. They were all written down in scrolls and she couldn’t just get him to read them all to her. Even though that would have been what she wanted.
She would squint, staring down at the scroll she had been given under the natural light. Reading had never been her strong suit. There had been some techniques that she had been able to pick up on naturally, like that silent way of moving that Akihiro had shown her. The others hadn’t been something she could just pick up on by the description alone though. Like this one… Rasengan? The name basically meant nothing to her. She mostly just knew these techniques by their descriptions. There were a few that involved earth manipulation, one that turned her invisible, two that split her into various parts, one that made mist, and this one that was supposed to make a ball of chakra… She vaguely recalled him showing her what it looked like. Holding his hand out and forming this spinning, spiralling sphere of just pure chakra. Pulling that memory to the forefront of her mind she would attempt to mimic him. Her hand would be held out in front of her. Simple enough. The hard part was surely getting the chakra out of it though. While the demonstration couldn’t show her the internals of how he got the chakra like that she could try to reverse engineer it. She flooded chakra to her hand, and then her palm, but obviously it wouldn’t be as simple as that. Just looking at it made it obvious that it was a shape transformation, but the specifics of how to get that far was the hard part. Just knowing it was chakra based shape transformation though made it almost a bit intimidating just to think about.
The chakra in their palm fizzled out. She could feel the pressure as it left the tenketsu in her palm, but there was no visual representation of that chakra that she expelled. The pressure wasn’t wind release, as she had made sure not to add any element to the chakra, but instead just the air being moved as it was displaced by the raw non-elemental chakra that she had just expelled. Obviously it hadn’t been enough, but she was just testing it out. More chakra would be added this time, and then more again, but-
Obviously it wasn’t correct. The chakra had been in a sphere. A spiraling sphere. The chakra she pushed out of her hand just left and was expelled outwards, even if in quantities that left it invisible. She would need to curve the chakra, or ensure it was left spinning rather than just being pushed straight out. Doing this by herself would be hard though. But if she had help…
Another jutsu from the list could be trained as well. This one was simpler to pick up in comparison. Just reading the trick more or less let her do it. Forming the clone seal she would make two clones, one to each side, and then she would try again. Holding out her hand and pushing out the chakra again each clone would add their own, moving their hands to attempt to shape the chakra into a sphere rather than just allow it to flow freely. This seemed to be a winning strategy as it resulted in the chakra remaining in place for a much longer period of time. Of course, she could only make so much progress with it being her first time. Eventually that little bubble of chakra she had formed would pop, exploding violently in her palm. She would be sent flying back, and both of her clones would end up destroyed in a matter of seconds, poofing into nothing but smoke.
Landing on her ass in the ground, Ikomiki would quickly decide to focus on something else instead. There were other things she could learn. Things that weren’t painful and wouldn’t explode in her face when she messed up. There was another trick in that list from the scroll she could practice instead. Turning invisible would be a very useful skill to have, and it didn’t seem as dangerous to try and practice as that exploding spiral ball from before. Still laying down on the ground she would try to focus. Chakra would swell around her body and shift the light that would have normally reflected off her skin. Rather than reflecting off her body and allowing her to be seen, all that chakra would allow it to be bent around her, and for a moment she would fade from existence. It was an easy success, and she needed that after being sent to her butt on the ground like she had been just moments before. Of course, nobody had been around to see it, but still - She knew, so it was still humiliating.
She decided to cut this short. Rather than continuing for the whole list she would just try to test out these last two - A few weird looking earth release techniques. They seemed simple enough. One involved flooding doton chakra all throughout her body in order to make her heavier and the other involved creating a big golem out of rock - Simple enough. The golem wasn’t all too different from shadow clones, just with some elemental stuff added. The doton chakra one was also similar, letting her flex her muscles a bit with this practice before finishing up.
