In the General Help Desk Discord we have discussed a potential edit to the current hit call rule which we believes takes a lot of the burden off the Caller in a conflict while making the Defender less invulnerable during fight threads. Here is the current rundown:
So what changed?
The biggest change occurs when a conflict arises to staff. In the event that the Caller wins an argument, their attack(s) connect instead of the process going back to the Editing phase. This encourages players in a combat thread to compromise and argue their points among themselves instead of running to staff for assistance every time.
Another improvement with these new rules is that the Caller is only required to tell their opponent to edit one time per conflict. This prevents the Caller from being forced to path-find the best route for their opponent. The Caller may choose to ask for further edits as long as all topic participants agree, but again is only required to ask for edits once. After the first edit attempt if the Caller is not satisfied, the conflict may immediately move to Staff.
-Conflict Res can be called anytime during a fight
-The caller has to express their case to the defender and tell them why they should edit, resulting in a 48 hr extension for editing purposes.
-The caller has to tell the defender to edit at least once, but can be as many times as they desire as long as everyone in the thread consents.
-The defender can compromise/edit, or take it up to staff
-If staff agrees with the caller, the hit goes thru
-If staff agrees with the defender, combat resumes as normal
Consistently making bad calls in a fight can result in a penalty deemed by staff. Bad calls are defined by illogical arguments and otherwise abuse of the system.
