Master Illusionist: Kai has the ability to cast any genjutsu without hand seals. While in almost every case the triggers remain the same, this is night the case when it comes to genjutsu in which the trigger is ‘seeing the handseal’. In the case of those genjutsu, merely seeing the user will suffice.
Gifted: Kai learns things quickly, and at a higher level than he normally would. This allows him to learn techniques one class higher than his class would normally allow. The drawback to this is that one must reach higher milestones to reach the next class. The milestone increases by 10% of the classes require experience. So to reach C class one would need 1100 experience instead of 1000 and to hit B class one would need 2200 instead of 2000. This UA can stack with other perks that allow learning of techniques earlier, such as intelligence perks, and the sensei bonus.

History: Kai, born in The Sand Kingdom in 912 A.S. to Hihemi and Satoshi Aglaris. He never had much of a childhood, trying to survive in a war torn land still slowly recovering from the economic depression the Kazehana Empire fell into toward the end of it’s reign. Thievery, mugging, and kidnapping weren’t uncommon and so he was kept closely watched by his mother and father as he grew. He remembered the day his parents were happiest, at least to his memory. It was the day Sunagakure was formed. A shinobi village, with training, protection, and jobs for his parents that would allow them to carve a living out of their country. They moved to Sunagakure, took up residence, and his father began training, and teaching Kai everything he could safely teach to his ten year old son.
Eight years later, Kai, now eighteen, remembers the most devastating day in his life, when his father returned home. He had been getting progressively more worried over the past year or so and on that particular day it had officially been announced that the village economy had collapsed. That meant no more jobs, no more shinobi guard or protection of any kind. It meant no more funded training for shinobi. It meant the country was about to dissolve into a land of thieves, murderers, and kidnappers. His family contemplated leaving, but decided that it was too dangerous. His father helped organize a militia that kept the village walls safe and guarded, organized patrols for their greenhouses, and kept at least the village itself safe.
He also began to push Kai harder in training, wanting his son to be able to protect himself and his mother if anything ever happened to him. They lived like that for years, until the village was reformed four years ago. Kai didn’t know specifics, he didn’t know how it happened, but somehow the village had gotten a burst of funds, and would hopefully begin to grow if they could nurture it carefully. Kai was tested, and was given the rank of genin, skipping any kind of academy instruction in a village that had just regained an academy.
Personality: Kai is relatively kind, but suspicious. He’s always willing to lend a hand if necessary but is never above suspecting what the other needing aid might be trying to gain. A fan of sparring, and training, Kai loves physical exertion and loves training and improving himself. Be it his mind, or body, he’s always willing to drop anything and everything to get a bit of training done.
Kai’s dreams involve being known throughout the world as the greatest practitioner of the Naginata. He wants his skill to be seen from far and wide and for all to appreciate his skill with his favorite weapon.
Beyond dreams of his shinobi aspirations, he hopes to one day have a family. To take care of them as his father has for him and his mother for so long.
Kai is an avid drinker, and can frequently be found in bars drinking when he isn’t on duty or training. No one would call him an alcoholic, but they would say he can be a fun and carefree drunk.
Kai is a curious man, always wanting to find out how something ticks, and he has an appreciation of beauty that few would expect from him. If something, or someone, interests him, ignites his curiosity, he will hound it relentlessly until he can find the answers he seeks, or learn everything he can in general.
