Napping in the Tall Grass [Mission]

Mission Goal: Collect a basket of herbs
Description: One of the local owners of a herb shop have hurt themselves when they fell down some stairs. The owner would usually go out in the afternoon to pick herbs from the training fields, but because they can't walk they are looking to hire someone to do the job for them. Swing on by the shop to collect a basket and a book of herbs before heading off to the training fields. Return only once the basket is full.

Staring down at the field of tall grass and weeds that had overtaken what used to be a training field, the young genin would sigh. This was one of the easier D-Rank missions, and the one that Chigetsu took the most often. Gathering herbs wasn’t really that hard at all, and that was part of the reason she had so much experience doing it. Getting down on your hands and knees to crawl through a field to find weird looking flowers and plants maybe wasn’t the most fun, but it was a good way to make some extra cash. This time rather than being alone Chigetsu had for some reason been partnered off with some other genin for this. Some girl from the Uzumaki Clan was all that Chigetsu had gleamed from the mission description before heading off to the training field. They were supposed to meet up here together, but as of now there was nobody else to be seen. Chigetsu had placed her basket down beside her in the grass, content to wait until someone else showed up. It was a bit of her natural laziness that was coming out, making her reluctant to start working unless she absolutely had to. Plus, sitting here in the grass like this was strangely comfortable. The breeze was pleasant today as well, bringing in salty air from the sea, and it was surprisingly warm outside. A sort of natural drowsiness emminated out from her because of this all, almost making her consider laying down in the grass and taking a nap…

She wouldn’t, because that would be a little gross. Bugs and worms might crawl into her hair in her sleep. Instead, Chigetsu would just sit beside her basket, drowsily waiting for her partner to show up.

Kiyoko had sort of weaned herself off of being late, or at least, that's what she convinced herself as she rushed out of the house in a full sprint in the direction of the village. She had thrown on what had become a rather staple outfit for herself when she wasn't in the forge, a simple white blouse with a red skirt. She hadn't brought any of her ninja tools seeing as the mission today was a simple herb gathering mission with very little chance of conflict. She wondered who she would be paired with today, seemingly on a Kumo roulette of shinobi and kunoichi partners for completing super mediocre tasks, not that she was complaining about what was essentially free money.

She would arrive at the clients house shortly afterwards and after collecting a basket from the woman, would rush as fast as her legs would take her over to the training grounds. She would arrive to see her partner already resting on the ground waiting for her, apparently in no rush to complete the task given to them, something that Kiyoko could appreciate entirely.

"I'm here now!" She announced, if only to garner the other girls attention upon arrival.

The announcement of her partner arriving would snap Chigetsu awake immediately from their half-doze. Blinking into full-consciousness, Chigetsu would take a moment to regard her partner. She had heard the basics from the mission description, that she was an Uzumaki girl, but a two word description didn’t tell all too much about a person. The first thing that Chigetsu would notice was her height. Even while sitting down and the other girl standing up, Chigetsu could tell that the Uzumaki was a fair bit taller. Her long, bright red hair was the next thing that would stick out. Chigetsu had seen other Uzumaki before, and so she was familiar with their signature trait, but even still. Each time she saw an Uzumaki’s hair it was always hard to believe it was natural and not dyed. She was almost a little jealous, wondering for a moment what her hair would look like if it was that shade of red. Those thoughts would be shook off after only a moment though, and Chigetsu would slowly stand up.

“Hey! My name is Chigetsu. You must be that Uzumaki girl that’s supposed to be partnered with me…” She would pause for a moment, unsure if she should prompt Kiyoko to introduce herself or just let it happen naturally. “... anyway, I’m sure you know what our job is. We just have to fill this basket with herbs.” Chigetsu would give a little tap on the basket. “We have this book of herbs too that we’re supposed to make sure we’re pulling from. I put that in the basket, but I don’t know how big of a deal it is that we collect the right things…” She would shrug a little. “Anyway… We have all day, so there’s no rush.”

Following a day of hard work, Chigetsu would wipe the sweat off her forehead. "Good job!" Seeing that the work was done, she would head home.
