Some point after their spar, Shimiko and Seigi were back on the road. They stopped in the Land of Frost to get some supplies and rest up. While there Shimiko read a newspaper article reporting that according to a public broadcast made by the Mizukage, Hana was slated to succeed him. He openly bragged about sacking the Land of Iron. This news made Shimiko absolutely furious. The Chinoike practically tore the newspaper in too out of sheer anger. Kumogakure had adopted a policy of allowing Kiri to expand its Empire so long as it did not encroach within the Lightning Country's sphere of influence. For the Empire to sack a nation on the other side of the world with no stated provocation was a clear thumb in the eye to its fellow world powers. It was unacceptable. Shimiko would tell Seigi of the current political situation. He was probably aware of some of the details but it would help to have a refresher. She'd also tell him about the current power struggle in Kumo between the Jashinists and Non-Jashinists. However, the main subject of conversation would be Kiri's various crimes including but not limited to:
- The Desecration of Demons
- Slave Trafficking
- The Assassination of the Hokage
- The Raids on Land of Frost
- The Sacking of Iron
- Being Nozomi's Village of Origin
And that was just what Shimiko knew about. Beforehand the girl had come to believe that perhaps a peaceful coexistence with the village was possible, but its governance structure had disabused her of that notion.
