Surpassing the Limits [Masuyo]

With the added agility and strength behind the clone attempting to strike against the spider as it was merely to distract the spider so it doesn't block the other clone's air bullet. When the spider of fire lunged at him, the shadow clone gracefully evaded the attack by spinning around the elemental. Unfortunately even as the clone began to slice into the elemental's body with the wind blade. The spider explodes into a fiery mess that catches the surprised clone immediately dispersing it. As for the clone above at a few meters away it just disperses on its own. It had accomplished its task by forcing Masuyo to remove her hand and drop her concentration.

Rin was keeping track of Masuyo's location via sensory, and surprisingly with his enhanced hearing and sense of touch Rin heard Masuyo telling him to come out. In that moment two arms burst through earth, and like he's climbing out of water. Rin pulls himself up as dirt and rock roll off from his head and shoulders. Once Rin stands up on his feet the boy merely brushes off the dirt from his face. Taking mental note to dust himself off before going back as he analyzed his actions. In truth he was disappointed with himself as there were a few things that he could've done differently that may or may not swing the tide to his favor. ”Seems like i still need to refine myself. It's nowhere near what i'd like to be.”

Rin emerged himself from the earth like a zombie. Part of Masuyo knew the two Rin clones she saw were just clones serving as a distraction. She knew the boy did not have Earth release but never expected him to actually try and tunnel his way through the earth. He stood on both feet again writhe in dirt. "There's always room for improvement, boy. Don't you forget about that. But let's look at your performance before you wallow in self-pity..." Kneeling over Masuyo slammed both palms on the ground as the earth began to shift again. The hole she once created was filled with earth again as the segment was pulled up from the hole and leveled with the rest of the ground. Masuyo elevated herself on both feet again placing both hands on her hits. "Your Taijutsu is...okay. You can keep up no problem but lack real world experience. Studying treatises and going through the motions is great at perfecting movement, but until you apply those to real battle scenarios it is useless. I want you to practice fight more. Request spars with your teammates and allies more often. You will get a greater feel for combat. Your Genjutsu is on the mark. This is no surprise knowing your sensory ability. Your Ninjutsu is passable. You are capable of high ranking Ninjutsu, though much like your Taijutsu, you lack real world application. Genin typically blast Ninjutsu hoping the technique would do the job for them. They waste chakra that way. Again, get more training through spars."

"My own judgement aside you are capable of negotiating basic situations faced in the line of duty. I do not expect you to be exception. No, this comes with time or a gift. You still have room to grow and many opportunities. For now, you exceed the Genin mark and rightfully deserve the title of Chuunin. When you round out your combat experience, master your skills, and make a name for yourself in the village, you can come to me and request a Jounin title. But until then, you are an official Shinobi and carry out the duties you are assigned. You are free to go. I'll be back at the hotel." Masuyo would face the other direction before taking off back to the city.

Mentioning that he needs to practice by sparring with other people is something Rin is gonna find difficulty on. Sure there was Yui, but he knows that she doesn’t hold back either. Granted he’s never taken a direct a hit from those blast techniques, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that she can deal a lot of damage very quickly and with little effort on top of that. There was Rei, but Rin isn’t sure if Rei would even be able to keep up with Rin to earn any combat experience from it. However that was something for another time.

The rest of it Rin listened in silence as Masuyo was giving her review. Overall he needed to experience real combat, and the only way he can get that is by fighting other people. On top of that perfecting things like this takes a lot of time, and perhaps that time is not what Rin has left. Albeit this is not something that can be rushed, and frankly he’s done all he can on his own. The fact that Masuyo did not fail him must have shown that he’s at least capable of handling himself. Even so for some reason Rin felt like she wanted to get rid of him as the teacher always hits the point where she graduates them so she can take on other students. Meaning that in a sense he’d be on his own from now on. Rin didn’t know if he should be thrilled or try to be professional by keeping a stoic expression. Honestly he hasn’t felt this excited about anything for a good while now, and already he was thinking of taking another mission when they get back. Little did he know that he was going to be swamped with everything from every angle.

At any rate as Masuyo spoke of her leaving for the hotel, Rin spoke after he (for once) presents a respectful bow. ”Thank you sensei.” Whether she heard him or not didn’t truly matter, or at least to Rin it didn’t. He spent some time dusting himself off to the best of his ability before departing from the training grounds into the city itself.
