Practical Illusions [Mission|Solo]

Yumi was in a pretty good mood as they walked down the busy streets of Kirigakure no Sato. Today was a day to take on another mission, at this rate, there was a change Yumi would be able to increase their ranking and begin learning higher ranked techniques, just a little more of a push was needed. The medic walked with a bounce in their step, heading in the direction of the Mission office to review the board to find the perfect mission to take. The Genin took one mission a day while spending the rest of the day researching new chemicals, compounds, poisons, medicines and drugs or working on new techniques to improve their arsenal. In fact, after this mission, Yumi planned to head on down to the training fields to test out some ideas they had. The chemist had even gone an extra step and put out a poster asking for someone to meet them at the training field this afternoon in order to be used as a testing dummy.

Yumi had an array of Genjutsu to develop and to do so needed a training partner to test out the full capabilities of these illusionary techniques they wanted to develop. Just practising on one's own wasn't eventful nor did it bear free, specifically when it came to Genjutsu and Ijutsu. Least when it came to Ijutsu, Yumi could practice on the sick or injured at one of the nearby hospitals or clinics.

Walking into the mission office, Yumi approached the board and began to scan the contents of the wall to find a mission to take. There were dozens of missions posted of all ranks D to C, but Yumi could only take D rank missions at their current rank. Looking over ones labelled D the medic reached out grabbing one posted from the Shinobi Academy.

Taking the mission poster off the board, Yumi began to scan its contents. It was fairly simple and addressed the matter in plain text. The Academy Genjutsu instructor was suffering from chakra exhaustion after their, last mission and couldn't teach. In order to make up for the lack of instructor the Academy posted a mission asking for someone to take over, someone qualified in Genjutsu to teach the instructors class for the day. The taker could even bring a friend or two if they wanted, but Yumi planned to take the mission solo. No need to involve others in it, after all, Yumi was one of the few Genjutsu specialists in the village and had studied the art for years. While they weren't a master, they were far from being an amateur.

Yumi handed the mission in getting their name jotted down as taking it, before the poster was stamped. Pocketing the mission, Yumi departed from the office heading in the direction of the academy, pondering just how they would teach the children. The easiest option would be to just cast a few illusions showing them what genjutsu was like. Walking into the academy, Yumi met up with the headmaster, showing the mission and was escorted to the classroom. On the way, the headmaster informed them the classroom had about twenty students inside.

Yumi slid the door open, taking a step inside, as they did they released a wave of chakra over the classroom trapping the students in an illusion. The medics body dissolved into thousands of tiny black flies that swarmed through the room, flying amongst the students making them scream. The flies began to gather at the front of the room reforming into Yumi's body, "I'll be your instructor for the day. Genjutsu isn't a simple art that anyone can learn, it takes patience, control and extraordinary will to create masterful illusions that can trick any foe."

"What I'm going to do is cast a few genjutsu to let you experience what they are like. Remember what you about to see isn't real, it's just an illusion." lectured Yumi, deciding to just let them experience it first hand. Sometimes it was better to use a hand on approach, using practical work instead of theory. Besides Yumi was only suppose to teach them a little about Genjutsu, most likely only one or two of them would truly go on to specialise in the art. Most shinobi prefer the fancy ninjutsu or overwhelming might of taijutsu. Very few utilised the art of genjutsu.

Yumi began to rapidly form hand seals one after the other, Snake, Boar, Snake, Dog, Tiger, Ram then took in a deep breath. Chakra surged out over the crowd of students and Yumi exhaled. From the medics lips, a poisonous cloud of purple mist was expelled that stretched over the classroom. As the cloud expanded, Yumi explained, "An illusion, a fake technique to mimic the Poison Mist Ninjutsu. This technique can be used in conjunctures with others, using the illusionary mist to hide one's true intentions. A team-mate might launch a fireball, or you can even throw a kunai with an explosive tag attached."

Time ticked away, as Yumi used multiple techniques on the classroom, ranging from D to C rank. These included the Demonic Illusion: Locust Swarm, False Explosion, Embracing Chains and Flesh Eating Scarabs. At the end of the day, Yumi hoped to have imparted at least some fear regarding the art of illusions onto the students. As the bell rang yumi departed heading back to the mission office, handing the mission in getting it stamped for completion and receiving their pay. With money in hand, Yumi walked off towards the village training fields.
