Delivering Parcels! [Mission]

Mission Details:

"Ah man, they classified this mission as a D-rank again?" The man who welcomed Akihiro at the post office seemed rather disappointed at the Genin's aspect. Perhaps he had been expecting some kind of badass looking ninja to show up and all he got was a small 12-year-old child. "Are you unsatisfied with my services in any way? I haven't even had a chance to do work." Akihiro stated, looking plainly at the man. The man glanced at him, examined the boy with his eyes from head to toe and then sighed.

"Listen, kid, we in this company deliver very important parcels. Sometimes there are even those who try to rob us right here inside the village! How can I be sure you're up to the task?" The man seemed preoccupied but Akihiro wasn't worried. He was confident he'd be up to the task. "Well I am a ninja. If the village entrusted me with this mission, it means I'm worth trusting. Now, will you let me work or not?"

The man hesitated, but then shrugged. It wasn't his responsibility anyway if the kid screwed up the higher-ups just had to take it to the village's military. Akihiro received the first batch of envelopes and began going through their addresses to check which one was closer.

Hiroji had walked into the post office soon enough, getting assigned yet another mission with Akihirio. It seems that Ningyo was nowhere to be found but he wasn't too worried about that, the past few mission with Akihirio and him exclusively had gotten him pretty used to it so he isn't that beat up about it. It looked like as soon as he entered though, the man rolled his eyes once more. "Seriously? if they're going to send Genin, they should at least send ones that look like they know what they're doing, they should've just made this a C-Rank mission." Oh... Hiroji didn't like that comment very much.

He then shared his piece of mind on the matter. "So you'd want this mission to be C-Rank, to waste a Chuunin's time which would be better spent out there handling criminals and bandits outside our village to keep citizens physically safe from harm, to waste their talents and precious time on a bunch of paper deliveries?" the man looked sharply at Hiroji after that little speech of his, but didn't protest against the logic of it. Afterwards, awkward silence filled the entire room and Hiroji started to take his fair share of parcels as well.

"Tell you what, to work efficiently how about we have a contest Akihiro? whoever delivers the most parcels by the end of the day wins and has to pay for an entire lunch, assuming we get around to that." he has never gone out with Akihiro solidly and hanged around with him as proper friends yet, but he'd imagine at one point in the future they will, and he wants that lunch favour.

Akihiro pondered on Hiroji's suggestion for a bit. It was true that they were rivals and that meant natural competition but... "We shouldn't do that." he ended up saying. "Some of these parcels are really fragile and I'd hate if I dropped one because I'm rushing to get there first." Akihiro felt kind of bad refusing Hiroji's challenge so bluntly, but what else could he do? They had a duty, and if their rivalry was going to get in the way of their duty then maybe they had to reconsider it.

Having said that, Akihiro noted the closest address to where he was supposed to deliver the first envelope. "Alright I'm off, cya in a little bit!" he would say before going out the door and jumping towards one of the many roofs around that area. Akihiro knew the village well, and the address written on the letter was not unknown to him. The boy would use the Body Flicker technique to walk faster while keeping a firm grip on the envelope so it wouldn't fall off. He as only using the Body Flicker technique when he knew it was safe, or where the likelihood of him crashing againstw was low. After a while of doing this, he finally found the house. Dropping down from its roof, Akihiro put the envelope on the mailbox and then jumped back on the roof. He would do this process about 4 times for four different houses before returning to the Postal Office.

"Alright you seem to be doing okay...we got a bigger one for you now."The man said, indicating a larger parcel to the young Uchiha. This one would probably need to be delivered in person. Akihiro glanced around to see if Hiroji was there, done with delivering his own first set of envelopes.

Hiroji hadn't done so bad with the pack of parcels he was given, compared to Akihiro's though he was given one extra and his addresses were stretched a bit further then Akihiro's ones. He did a similar process to what Akihiro did and used the Body Flicker Technique to get to places faster, ignoring Akihiro's take that this isn't a "competition" when he completely saw it as one, since it's a test of speed between the two if anything while keeping the parcels in-tact, it's a perfect competition and he didn't know why Akihiro didn't see it as one. Hiroji took to the roofs to get the addresses faster, delivering the mail well enough before repeating the same process for five other addresses and making a speedy return back to the post office.

He had entered about thirty seconds after Akihiro entered the building, considering the distance of parcels he had to deliver compared to Akihiro, the guy at the desk had asked how he delivered them so fast. "Because I'm treating this as a competition, I'll win it by the end of the day." of course, the guy was doubtful of it as first like Akihiro but he seems to be pretty approving of it if the mails get delivered fast like that. "I think your friend got the right idea." he had commented, before Hiroji had quickly picked up a larger parcel to deliver. "Oh, make sure you don't drop that, that's especially important." Hiroji would still treat this as a competition despite this, but he'll be more considerate of the package.

As soon as Akihiro would start to run off, Hiroji would do the same soon after.

Akihiro rolled his eyes at the manager's comment. He was supposed to be the responsible one and not be encouraging Hiroji's reckless behavior! If they ended up damaging a package, not only would their payment be cut by a significant portion but they would probably also have to pay a fine on top of that. Now Akihiro had made quite a bit of money from the last few missions with Hiroji and Ningyo but he didn't quite feel like spending it on fines due to Hiroji's behavior. On top of this the other Genin even wanted to make a competition out of this when all Akihiro wanted after the last few crazy missions was a calm quiet mission that didn't require too much effort. Hiroji had way too much energy!

The young Uchiha took his parcel and glanced at the other one the man was carrying. With his glance, he saw the address where it was supposed to be delivered to. After giving it to Hiroji, the man signaled the two of them to move out. Akihiro knew both addresses now, the one where he was supposed to deliver his parcel and then one Hiroji was supposed to deliver his. Smirking, the Genin bolted off at max speed this time. Making a quick hand-seal, Akihiro decided to experiment with a jutsu he'd heard about but never really tried. The Sly Mind Affect Technique. This powerful Genjutsu would make Hiroji walk around the area quite a bit, without ever reaching his destination even tho he was clearly trying to get there. It was a fine Genjutsu and this was the perfect opportunity to test its power. Akihiro was an incredibly adept Genjutsu user and Hiroji would have a lot of trouble to even realize he was in a Genjutsu. Akihiro wasn't worried about the parcel he was carrying because the jutsu did nothing to affect his balance or physical abilities, it only made it seem like he was walking towards a target when in truth he was walking around in circles.

While Hiroji struggled, Akihiro would deliver his parcel, and then another and even a third one. By the time he reached the postal office after delivering his third package, the man there asked for Hiroji. "I dunno." the boy innocently said, shrugging his shoulders. Despite this, he finally dispelled the Genjutsu.

Hiroji had quickly rushed after Akihiro as soon as he started to actually treat this competition between them seriously. "Finally!" Hiroji had exclaimed, smiling as he saw the Uchiha pulling up a handseal, believing that he's going for the body flicker techique as he couldn't tell what the handseal is from and Hiroji tried to do the same, reaching down to the ground going at a fast pace once more with the body flicker technique towards his supposed address, the problem with this however is that it's like he's not going anywhere, he's gone towards the basic, mundane route towards the address at first and realised he simply started back where he was, he started to try every nook and cranny of the block he's stuck in, through alleyways, through streets he's never taken before but they always ended up to that exact, same street.

It didn't take long for Hiroji to realise that he's in one of Akihiro's Genjutsu, as he doubt the village would've let such a weird anomaly in the Leaf run wild without warning people and there wasn't much reason for him to think of someone else who would put him in such a repeating Genjutsu, especially since Akihiro started to rush off like that at the beginning, meaning he'd use everything in his arsenal to win. He still considered that unfair however, as Hiroji had practically close to no jutsu to combat Genjutsu.

When he could finally tell that the jutsu had been released, he'd be bitter about the whole thing but he'd continue to deliver the mail to the following addresses, one, two, and then three and the job was done fast and well enough thanks to his body flicker technique, he held carefully to the shipments as a result of Akihiro trying to pull off that jutsu. As soon as Hiroji made it back to the post office, he had hoped to see Akihiro there.

By the time Hiroji was finally done delivering his share of parcels, Akihiro had already delivered his and was now resting, leaning against the wall of the postal office and thinking about...well, stuff. He'd been there for a while now, drinking orange juice he'd gotten with the extra time he had had. Unlike what the old man had said, neither of them had been attacked by robbers trying to get their hands on the parcels. This was almost disappointing to Akihiro since he had a new set of jutsu he really wanted to test out. He supposed he'd have to wait for his and Hiroji's next spar to test those.

"Heyo~!" Akihiro waved as Hiroji arrived. He knew exactly why the Senju was late but decided to wait and see whether his teammate was able to catch on to his little trick or not. Akihiro felt a little guilty about pulling that sort of jutsu and trick on his friend, but deceiving opponents were really the best use for Genjutsu and from the moment Hiroji turned it into a competition he had become Akihiro's opponent. And it wasn't like the young Sparrow had a vast array of tricks either...his only other option was to compete in a race against an opponent who was two years older than him and who had more stamina to carry parcels around. After considering these facts, Akihiro did feel a little bit better about what he'd done.

Hiroji would've let Akihiro know that the Senju boy knew about the Genjutsu trick he pulled, and thought about keeping it to himself to get back at Akihiro for next time, but he'd make it loud and clear. "That wasn't very fair..." Hiroji would begin with as soon as the Uchiha would greet the Senju coming back to the post office, with that line directed towards Akihiro clearly, Akihiro would clearly know about Hiroji is talking about. "It is a competition, but you didn't see me using Ninjutsu to win." not that he had much Ninjutsu to choose from for this activity, but he got the point well enough. After sharing his thoughts on it though, he didn't seem too irritated about it and left him with a little promise. "I'll get you back for this, you can count on that."

The guy stepped in though, and shook his head. "Nah, you two are done for the day. You can head on home." with that clearly stated, Hiroji dealt with that calmly enough as he'd get him back for the next mission perhaps. "Okay... until next time then." to give the idea that the revenge will indeed come, as Hiroji only left with that line and not even a goodbye to Akihiro. He honestly was still a bit bitter about it but Hiroji imagined that in a few days time, he'd get over it. He exited the post office and went on back home

Akihiro merely shrugged at Hiroji's bitterness. He was used to people being bitter after he applied Genjutsu on them. Most people don't realize how vulnerable their mind is and Akihiro's talent to manipulate the senses makes them feel vulnerable and get defensive. The Sparrow didn't take it personally. "the Body Flicker is a jutsu." he stated. It was true. Akihiro couldn't understand why it was okay for Hiroji to take advantage of his superior stamina and age but not okay for him to take advantage of his Genjutsu talents. Perhaps the boy was just bitter about having lost a competition he'd set himself. Alas Akihiro wasn't worried. Hiroji would eventually forget about it and maybe learn a few Genjutsu of his own to try on Akihiro the next time.

After having waved goodbye to his friend, Akihiro went home wondering about what sort of revenge Hiroji could possibly plan against him. The younger Uchiha would certainly need to be prepared to deal with his traps! By the time he arrived at the Uchiha district, it was already nighttime. Tomorrow would be a new day and a full new adventure awaited him...Akihiro was really starting to enjoy his life as a ninja. He could really get used to this.
