Appearance:
Nakajima, Yuuki stands at a full height of 5ft & 5 inches. Weighing in at 131 pounds. Generally, she has an overall sleek & average figure, with an above average bust size. Her skin is warm tawny color. If left alone for a decent amount of time she can grow her hair to ridiculously long lengths. Which unintentionally makes keeping a low profile difficult for her due to its silver/golden blonde pigmentation.
On top of this, her similarly colored eyes tend to glow when she uses powerful visually aimed genjutsu. Despite this Yuuki does not have any doujutsu, and it is only known to be an unnatural effect of her body's chakra system. However, this isn't really revealed often or known at all anyway. Purely due to her use of always wearing a blindfold to protect her sensitive eyes, on top of hardly ever using a jutsu powerful enough to trigger such effects.
Thanks to her recovery from the hospital, grueling training, and the ninja academy. Yuuki has amassed a small portion of lean muscle mainly around her torso and upper arms. Most of her body is now exceedingly flexible and limber. This allows her to be very nimble and quick on her feet. Often moving with dance-like mannerisms when highly active or in combat. She has a trained grace to her step despite her timid and condensed nature.
Styles:
- General:
Yuuki generally dresses light and as comfortably as possible. She isn't one to go above and beyond for an outfit, but she still enjoys the feeling of being pretty. At least as far as she understands what being pretty is. Because of this Yuuki generally likes the use of accessories more than she does clothing to express herself. However, on her most casually and relaxed of days, she can possibly be seen wearing some sort of leggings or slim-fitting trousers, and either a sporty top or a very loose one. Anything that gives her room to wear jackets or dress like robes with pockets spaces in them to carry things.
Thus her most common attire is a short tank top, and leggings both black in color. With a red jacket that stops around her upper abdomen. Leaving her to stuff her hands in her pockets as much as she likes.
- On Duty Attire:
1.)
2.)
When on duty as a ninja, Yuuki takes drastic turns in her attire. She doesn't like to be bogged with heavy equipment and layers of clothing. So she tends to wear as little as possible. She has little care for public presentation in terms of keeping others around her comfortable or undistracted. Preferring to feel as lightweight as possible so she can move and dance on the battlefield freely. Where or not she is distracting for her opposition or allies is not a concern.
The fewer layers of clothing blocking her connection to soundwaves the more in tune with her surroundings she is. So despite the ridiculousness of it all, her lack of proper shinobi gear on missions has its use.
Thus her "battle" attire of choice is an oversized cloak that she can close with a few buttons. A white captain's hat with large pointed ears. Shorts one size too small, and four bells that she wears on different parts of her body.
History: [Big Wip]
[1-8] "Little Arpeggio"
- Spoiler:
- Yuuki was born in Sunagakure on the twenty-seventh of September. She was the first and only child of Emica Minami and Akihiko Nakajima. Her parents unknown to her for a short while were former shinobi of Sunagakure, who met during their early adult years out in the field. Both were originally only friends in the beginning.
Her mother Emica was a skilled and talented kunoichi who rose to the rank of Chuunin later than the class she was inducted with. But despite this set back she was very cunning with medical jutsu and alchemy during her time. She played a strong role in making sure people were protected from the harsh hazards and dangers of the deserts. Which gave her a decent bit of fame within the village.
Her father Akihiko however, was an esteemed Genin from the beginning. Starting out within his class among the top students, and only just barely missed #1 to his rival. Even still he was expected to rise within the ranks quickly, which he inevitably did.
Being a candidate for Jounin before he even turned seventeen years old; Akihiko grew to quickly dislike the pressure and expectations put upon him by his superiors. He also disliked the idea of leading others with such little experience of his own. This rebellious thinking was admittedly what attracted Emica to him at first. Although his kind heart, stubborn personality was what grew her perception of him in the long run. At this point, Emica was sixteen while Akihiko was seventeen.
Yuuki's parents were never on the same team together, but they were very close friends. Always finding ways to meet after their missions and help each other if possible. Their bond remained that way for about three years before they eventually fell in love with each other, and finally became a couple.
Akihiko and Emica didn't get married until five years later. During that time Akihiko had was out in the field a lot, and hardly had time to relax on most days of the week. And orders for new and improved supplements were high for Emica as well. The two of them both began to despise the wasted years of their twenties and wanted a way out of the routine shinobi lifestyle without betraying the village. With both being about five to six years away from turning thirty they decided they were going to retire from shinobi life, despite the pleas and demands not to. With war tensions high, it was an understandable resistance but their minds were made up. After the first year of marriage, Emica was pregnant with Yuuki just after their anniversary.
By the time she was born, both of her parents were fully retired shinobi of Sunagakure. Leaving in their home together as a family as they had planned. However, their fears as upcoming parents become real once they learned that Yuuki had an extraordinary affinity with all of her standard senses. Such being able to hear, see, and feel is far beyond normal human capabilities. Gifts that came predominantly from her father's side.
These "gifts" were rare, but not unknown mutations in the X chromosome of human DNA. Which when bolstered by chakra could create amazing effects practically reminiscent of a Kekkei Genkai. However, they also gave Yuuki the burden of being vulnerable to seizures. As a way to help her develop her senses to the world around her, she was given remedies with the use of blindfolds, earplugs, specially textured gloves.
For the next eight years, Yuuki only knew the life of being an average village girl in a place surrounded and protected by ninja. The ideas of chakra and jutsu were relatively foreign to her for quite a while due to the strictness of her father. He was very afraid of the idea of losing his daughter to the war let alone the general dangers of being a ninja. And with Yuuki having such odd, but powerful genetic tools at her disposal he knew third-party temptations to turn her into a replacement of him were going to be high. And they most definitely were. So he and Emica unanimously agreed to forbid her from ever becoming a ninja in the first place. Vowing to protect her innocence as a member of the village with their very lives until she was old enough to decide on her own.
This left little Yuuki to be unintentionally incapable of truly bonding with her childhood friends as they all went off to become Genin and so on. The next generation of shinobi was being created right before her very eyes, and she was blind to it by the sometimes oppressive efforts of her loving but paranoid parents. Regardless of this, she still loved and appreciated her parents at a young age. And looked up to them despite the many things they hid away from her knowledge.
[9-12] "A Peaceful Crescendo"
- Spoiler:
- As the only child of two former shinobi, Yuuki had an odd but fun childhood. While the use of chakra was practically forbidden for her, she still was taught a multitude of skills and given insight on her inner talents from both parents. Carrying on the use of alchemy was severely high in her future, thanks to her intelligence and creativity. As well as her innate attunement to sound and music thanks to her father's influence. Yuuki became a practitioner of the piano and other instruments very early, and eventually gained proficiency when she was about eleven. Her skills in manipulating instruments to create beautiful and outright hypnotic sounds were very clear to anyone that heard her music.
She was a young prodigy like her father in her own special little way. Which naturally saved her from years of depression due to losing friends, and being outcast from the shinobi world she was desperately curious of. Yuuki tended to create entire pieces dedicated to fallen friends that died way too soon due to the cruelty of the First Shinobi World War. Which eventually carried on to pay respects to fallen heroes as well. This was Yuuki's way of connecting herself to the world that her parents were too scared to let her see. And even though she wears a blindfold her ability to see the words written in between blurred lines was keen.
She was no fool. And thus, eventually little Yuuki began to deviate from the wishes of her parents in secret. Her fascination with the use of puppets being the thing that tipped her curiosity over the edge. At the age of twelve, Yuuki spent most of her nights and days, going to the alleys she was most familiar with to practice trying to use chakra. It took her a long time to be able to even make one hand of chakra threads, let alone two. But her dedication to the Art of Puppeteering was far too high. High enough to make her believe buying her own small little puppet to practice with at home, in secrecy was a good idea. Eventually, her sneaky actions would catch up to her, as she was found out by her father. It was also the same night she saw him be truly angry and yet scared for the first time. Only by the protection of her mother did she avoid his confused and scared wrath.
Since that night, the bond between her parents was destined to be changed forever...
With the realization that their once obedient and sheltered daughter had defied them, and also trained herself in the use of chakra. Full paranoia kicked in from both parents. They were not as prepared to handle something like this, as much as they thought that they were. And with so many years having been spent under the radar, it was safe to say that the shinobi world was already evolving quicker than they realized. Initially, they peacefully tried to convince Yuuki that the route she was going was a path that borders the lines of temptation, peer pressure, and self harm. Things they of course wouldn't want their daughter to ever have to struggle with as much as they did. In their eyes convincing her to just forget the use of chakra was the only way to ensure her protection. However, Yuuki's stubborn approach to wanting her own say on the matter was the exact thing that kept their wishes from being what they hoped for.
Yuuki was then made to conform to a minor ultimatum. She could only use Puppeteering and chakra for her performances and under their supervision. Otherwise, consequences could arise for her. Yuuki reluctantly agreed. And for a while, the young musician would manner to find some comfort in this new step in her life. The strict rules of her parents posed a great challenge in the use of her creativity. Which unintentionally only strengthens Yuuki's proficiency with using chakra strings, and learning about chakra's possible uses. Of course, military adaptations were nowhere near her idea pool, but she was also aware enough to know that such puppets were mainly used by shinobi for assassinations and a unique form of combat.
Because of this Yuuki did at least work to ensure anyone that came to her small street performances knew to not associate her with the likes of shinobi. Only out of respect of course; although also for the good of her parent's blood pressure. Although no matter how hard she'd advocate for such things, this would not stop a few ninjas of Sunagakure from taking notice of the obvious shinobi influence. The techniques Yuuki animated her little puppets were reminiscent of the way a few puppeteers from Suna do. This much was clear, which meant that word traveled through the ranks quickly. Soon enough it wasn't just civilians that were watching young Yuuki and her musical puppet shows...
[13] "A Sorrowful Middle 8"
- Spoiler:
- Progressing into her first taste of life as a teenager was as awkward and sporadic as any other. Although she had a bit more privilege than some, thanks to the income she was able to bring into the home through her artistry. To keep from feeling bogged down Yuuki began to beg her parents to allow her to explore the village more. Wanting to have some additional freedom to be applied to her new age, just like any upcoming young adult. Considering that she hasn't tried to hide anything from them since the last time, both Emica and Akihiko eventually eased up on their iron grip over their daughter. Letting her make a few decisions on her own. Although venturing out of the village gates on her own was still very forbidden.
However now she was able to take her performances into areas of the village that she has never been able to before. Which in of itself was exciting to the young girl. And for a time things were going great. Until one day...a few Sunagakure shinobi came knocking on the Nakajima Family's door. A jounin and two chuunin to be exact. Their arrival brought a mix of unease and uncertainty within the home. As they were not there to speak with the retired ninja. They were there in hopes of enticing their daughter. Up until now, young Yuuki has never had personal interaction with ninja from the village.
So at that very moment, she shared the same discomfort as her parents. The three Suna Shinobi were not subtle with their requests when speaking to her in front of her parents. The straightforward offer of inducting her into the ninja academy of Sunagakure was all they wished to propose. Which obviously infuriated and worried Emica and Akihiko. Both feelings disrespected and almost betrayed that the very village that they have fought, and bled for would go out of their way to worm its way back into soliciting work from them through their daughter.
And despite their worries, Yuuki did in fact refuse such an offer. Which was a response that the two of them weren't too sure she'd give. But were relieved of the fact to be that they were wrong for questioning it. And so all that came now was to stand their ground. However, upon the refusal, the Sunagakure Shinobi would aim to make things harder for the three of them. Claiming that it had been decided that since she isn't a shinobi, Yuuki was not permitted to use chakra strings for her performances. Let alone use them in the way that she has been for so long. On top of that, if Yuuki were to perform her shows in a similar manner that she already has, it could earn her serious jail time for "stealing and exposing" secret shinobi arts.
With that said, this was a low blow, that the Nakajima couldn't afford to take. This was a crushing setback in a situation that previously was going so well. And for the young musician, her spirits were beyond crushed by the end of the day after the Suna ninja had taken their leave. All of her hopes, all of her work. All of that training. Dashed away due to the selfish choices made for her and against her. A fork in the road that has no way to wage the challenges up ahead. And once again her life was being controlled by a third party. It was aggravating beyond comprehension. And for her parents, it was the beginning of their worst nightmares.
[14-15] "Attack...Decay...Sustain....Release"
- Spoiler:
- For a long time, Yuuki spent her days in a foggy depression after having the use of puppets and music stolen from her. Her once joyous expression falling slack into a dull overtone of lost motivation. Her interactions with her parents suffering as well like emotional collateral damage. Yuuki was a broken soul. Not to mention, the situation proved to be truly angering for the former Sungakure ninja as they watched their child hallow out into an empty shell. With their once-peaceful lives, now under scrutiny and the two of them began to feel antsy. As if at any moment something seriously bad was going to happen. Which finally pushed the two of them over the edge enough to break their previous vows.
For the next two years, they began to create their contingency plan by training Yuuki. Disguising the training as simple labor work, and resupply trips. Using hidden locations whenever they felt like they needed extra security. With this training, Yuuki would be given insight into what chakra truly was, and how it could be manipulated. Her father focusing on training her already talented hands, to understand the formation of handseals and how to apply that to musical instruments. Using such techniques to weaponize sound itself as he did during his prime.
Her mother focusing on teaching her chakra control and honing in the use of her enhanced senses. Although with her starting so late, the process of learning was strenuous and very difficult. To combat this, her father instilled in her a small string of words to use to, help attune herself to her chakra network.
Attack: To draw in and build upon her chakra flow.
Decay: Carve away the unnecessary distraction and mold the chakra as she sees fit.
Sustain: To Hold and gather it within her systems like a rush of air in her lungs.
Release: Unleash her chakra as if she were performing a fresh work of pure unfiltered artistry.
This small phrase would be her meditation and key to learning the new world opening up before her eyes. And while her loss of puppetry was still heartbreaking, to finally be able to explore the very thing her parents used to be able to use when they were her age was thrilling to her. Unfortunately...the shinobi would is not as thrilling as most know...
As young Yuuki might have made remarkable progress in expanding her understanding of chakra use. She was still a civilian in comparison to so many others. And despite their efforts, Yuuki's parents would not be able to run away from their Shinobi pasts forever. Due to their distractions in Sunagakure, the two former shinobi hadn't thought about the dangers that could be attracted from outside the village in the form of foreign enemies. Tensions from post-war times were still too new to be forgotten. Their reputations proceeded them, and so did the memories of their identities.
One the way back home from a long day of training and supplies hunting. The Nakajima family would face their second shinobi encounter. However, these were no Suna ninja. In fact from where their assailants came was unknown. For Yuuki she wouldn't even get a chance to understand the situation before everything went dark. The attack proved to be a deadly struggle. As, such to her horrors, Yuuki awoke in a place that had absolutely zero resemblance of a desert. In fact it was some sort of woodland obviously unfamiliar to her. And more importantly nowhere near her parents. Her body ached as she tried to get herself situated, but the moment she moved she felt nothing except restrictions impeding her movements. With a complete lack of combat experience let alone knowledge on how to react to an abduction, Yuuki forgot any and all training she could possibly think of. And instead was only a scared teenage girl hoping to make it out of her terrifying situation alive.
Yuuki was missing long enough to forget what day of the month it was...let alone what month it was, to begin with. In the hands of five unknown enemies, she had no name. No purpose other than being a girl with a large price over her head. For ransom or to be bought off by someone else. She was kept weak and under tight surveillance, as forced her to travel with them to places she has never even dreamed of seeing before. It had been a long time of wondering if she would have ever been saved,...or if the smugglers would just get bored and finally kill her off. She wasn't exactly sure which would actually come. However, the last thing she wanted was to be a servant to them or anyone else. Luckily for them, her will to defy, and freedom of choice was broken a long time ago.
And just as all hope was lost. It seemed life cruelly decided to give her a miracle after all. Just as she was only a few miles away from crossing another country's border. The smugglers were ambushed in during dawn. This was not the first time... Admittedly Yuuki didn't pay it much mind. The last three "heroes" all perished during their failed attempts at rescuing her. So for her, this was a rerun of an unfunny joke. A level of mental torture that doesn't even hurt her anymore.
But much to her surprise this time things were different. While everything was moving so fast, and she was being carried away, she recognized the oddly melodic sounds booming behind her down the beaten path that the smugglers were traveling on. The rhythms...were violent...angry...powerful...familiar. They were her fathers.
At first, she only caught a glimpse of him. Up until now, she had never seen ninja fight before. Let alone her father. Witnessing it for the first time...was more so terrifying than it was awe-inspiring. Not once has she ever seen such mystical and otherworldly abilities be cast in front of her. Nor has she seen such bloodshed either. She had thought that these smugglers were the worst. It seems her father was much more brutal. At this time Yuuki had hope.
Her sense of humanity returning as every last one of these hated crooks was slain right before her eyes. It was not traumatizing to see her father finally gain revenge. For a time she had wondered where mother was. But at this point, she wasn't sure it mattered. By the time her father had caught up to her, it was just him, herself, and one last smuggler. He had stopped running near a bridge somewhere that crossed over a river that flowed from a nearby waterfall. She doesn't remember his face. Her father was tired...she couldn't tell what blood was his and what was the countless smugglers he had destroyed. All she remembers was that there was more fighting...darkness...a voice she does not know...and then lastly red. The floor was covered in red and she was in pain. An excruciating amount of pain. And yet her screams could only be heard internally. And then darkness again
This part of Yuuki's life comes without a beautiful ending. On that day she had learned that some works of art come with dark and painful costs. Her hopeful heart sung out desperately to be free from her nightmare. And free she did become... But it came the loss of everything before that moment.
All she knows is that now is that she lives in a new country. One of rock and stones. Her life now under the debt of those that found her on the side of the road next to a plethora of dead bodies. She had spent two months in a hospital in yet another ninja village she barely remembers the name of. Slowing regaining cognitive abilities after previously being paralyzed from chakra strain that had nearly killed her. Her memories are now only foggy, dull, and painful. She remembers no Sand Village. She remembers no mother or father. The world around her is unfamiliar. All she remembers are four things...
Attack...Decay...Sustain.....Release...
Personality:
- Spoiler:
- Before the "Red Nightmare" Yuuki was a rather joyful and kind-hearted individual. Willing to help others to a degree that can only be called, warmly stubborn. During this time her life was far less chaotic and unpredictable. She was quite the respectful young girl. Knowing right from wrong at a young age, and always trying her best to be respectful of anyone and everyone. Though that was a time when she lived with her parents in Sand village. As a 16-year-old girl in Stone Village, Yuuki is far from average let alone normal.
She could best be described as a passionate extrovert that has now been reduced to the world's most curious introvert. Reacting and acting upon things usually only via impulse or instinct now. The damage and trauma during her capture stripped her ability to understand and perceive things normally. This has left her be quite abrasive and quirky in social settings. The once naive and brave girl, is now only known for her quiet curiosity, and spontaneous mischievousness. With her physical and emotional hypersensitivity, Yuuki often only expresses herself through gestures and short phrases. Tending to avoid long drawn-out forms of communication to avoid becoming bored or annoyed.
Generally, she can also be easily distracted by the most minimal of things. Because of this, she prefers to spend her time practicing with music or chakra than interacting with others. Her use of the flute or a few other instruments being one of the very few things she knows how to do for long periods of time since being released from the hospital.
Thus her ability to communicate verbally is often lackluster and off-putting. She almost never speaks in a normal volume. This means she is either yelling awkwardly or talking in an almost inaudibly soft but monotone voice. To combat this, Yuuki uses sign language or body language to speak more often. However, if caught within a group of people, she would rather opt to remain quiet and be as ignorable as possible. The excessive amount of noises can be overwhelming to her, which then causes a whole different array of issues. She also has a strong fear of being suddenly grabbed and tugged in random directions or finding herself in unnaturally dark alleys. Which has been diagnosed to be a high indicator of PTSD from her long-term kidnapping/human trafficking incident.
And yet, she is still actually quite curious about a lot of things and does like to try to explore her surroundings. In fact, due to small-term amnesia, she is even more curious than her past self was. Which often leads to Yuuki overanalyzing things whenever she gets the chance. Her strong sense of touch often being the biggest distraction at any given moment. It isn't uncommon for her to be caught touching things she shouldn't be, or inappropriately invading other's personal space by accident.
Although the main things with Yuuki are that when using chakra-based techniques, she instead likes to categorize them under the nicknames of "acts" instead of jutsus. Numbering them based on significance rather than the time of creation or first use. This is her way of extending herself beyond her often jarring limitations. Still holding on to her ingrained tradition of making any piece of art she creates rememberable.
To Yuuki, jutsus are just a form of art. And despite her brokenness, the once vastly expressive artist/performer still lives on in her sensitive little heart. And so, through her use of chakra, Yuuki practically creates a whole new way of seeing the world around her. Especially since she has an affinity for Genjutsu and Sensory in particular.
However, she does come with the notable drawbacks of overloaded emotions when under high amounts of stress. Which can cause her to be very volatile and corrosively violent. Displaying aggression in either a cold and cynical manner. Or with pure savage aggression. Which of course transfers into the style of music she will play when attempting to destroy an opponent.
If this happens during battle Yuuki will often take a sadistic approach when attacking others. This is a side of her that she is not all that familiar with, as any other time she isn't all that harmful. But it goes without saying that Yuuki has a deep-rooted cunning within her consciousness. One that she uses more so on instinct and impulse. And so with that cunning and a good instrument at her disposal. Yuuki is capable of very terrifying things...
