    Evacuate!:

Ashitaka couldn't believe what he'd heard. There was an imminent terror attack planned on the island hovering over the Iwagakure Commonwealth, putting the lives of all of its civilians at risk! This was unacceptable and unforgivable. But if whoever was carrying out the attack had the capacity to actually damage the powerful seals holding it up in the air, there was little if anything he could do to stop them. Direct experience has proven time and again that he's useless in a fight, if not outright detrimental to whatever team he's a part of. Which meant that he had to do the best he could as a non-combatant.

His efforts however, would suffer just one. Little. Problem. He was a Konoha ninja and therefore not generally welcome in any of the Iwa villages, least of all with bad news. His warnings and calls to evacuate were taken as threats and met with jeers and thrown objects. Any efforts to appeal to village elders was met with similar scorn, as they were seen as attempts to coerce the communities back under Konohagakure's heel. He couldn't really deny those claims because he didn't know the truth of the matter, but in his mind their survival of the immediate crisis was more important. He was on his fifth hamlet and fourth failure to convince people to start moving when a series of screams directed his attention to the sky, wherein the veracity of his claims was confirmed: the dark shapes of four huge airships had appeared on the horizon and were growing quickly. Now people were willing to evacuate, but they were hardly in a listening mood. They pushed each other down and fought amongst themselves in their panicked rush to gather belongings, necessities, pets, and family and make their way to safety.

Ashitaka, meanwhile, ran around the towns and stole postcards and any other small items he could find that had the images of various buildings in the neighborhoods. He was pretty sure that they'd all be incredibly surprised to come back and find that several buildings had been reconstructed as quickly as they'd been demolished. But time was short, and the airships were looming ever closer...

It was a pleasure to sacrifice.

There had been murmurings at first, small whispers in the back of his mind. Reminders from another voice, soon those whispers became scratches, gnawing on his brain stem. They'd kept him awake, thrusting him from sleep with a ferocious urgency. He felt it in his skin, bones and veins, an itching like none other, a crawling sensation; muscles tremoring, eyes twitching. A slithering feeling squirmed beneath his skin, racing and coiling in joints, winding its way up his arms and legs. When sleep finally came to him, brief as it was, he recalled only the footsteps of thousands of centipedes bursting from his mouth.

He'd awoken screaming, in the Hospital, ripping catheters and needles, tearing the hospital gown away. He remembered, vividly, sinking fingernails into scarred flesh and dragging, trying to rip and gouge out the insects crawling inside. Oh how he'd raked his faced, his neck, and shoulders, drawing blood, tearing stitches along his cheeks. This skittering skin, it wasn't his own--

But then the clamoring and gnawing had grown quiet. He recalled the warm trickle of blood down his chest, how nerves once flayed by fire were tickled. Pain morphed into pleasure. A scratch here, a slice there; any pain to sate the crawling skin. Worse still, no matter how hard he'd tried to drag it out, to make one wound last, it never had, and this crawling skin left him chasing for more. Soon he understood the whispers, translated by the litany of the Church clicked into place.

His path through the continent had taken him here, to the desolate Land of Earth. Mora had called it God's plan for him, a testament to the strength of Jashin. As a Defender of the Faith, their god demanded sacrifice-- blood and suffering. The itching, and convulsing, it was the way Jashin spoke to his followers, coaxing them into action.

ANBU had received reports of the evacuation in the land of Earth, and made the mistake of supplying him with the coordinates. Off the record surveillance of the situation to watch troop movements, scour for intel where he could. By the time he;d arrived the evacuation was already under way, he followed the trails of footsteps through the dust and scrub. Found deserted towns and settlements in its wake. He'd called out with his Sense, finding only feeble shinobi signatures, but still he'd pressed on, always keeping far out of sight of evacuation teams.

After killing a man ona mountain pass, the itching had stopped, and he wore his face and clothing in place of his own. A Perfect Copy technique finished the job, giving him auburn hair and green eyes, and darkened skin. The yellow tunic felt alien to him, but it was a necessary part in concealing himself.

Twice he'd felt a familiar signature far off in the distance; the boy from the Land of Waterfalls.

Curiosity had got the better of him, and he gave chase, until he found himself in a small town in the process of evacuation. His eyes closed in concentration as he scanned the winding streets and buildings. In the distance, airships loomed. Evacuation rarely was calm, and now death was nipping at the heels of countless civilians, all flocking to the exits. He'd learned well from the Land of Waterfalls skirmish, and chose his movement wisely, watching from nearly a kilometer off.

"By the grace of Jashin...." He muttered under breath, whispering a prayer into the void, bringing his fingers together in a crossed, perpendicular pose.

He stood now, looking through fresh eyes, and descended, moving towards the chorus of screaming voices. Concealed in the din of pure panic, he was able to move, freely, following clusters of civilians, Shinoib scarcely paying him attention as he ducked down alleyways. The Evacuation teams were anticipating an attack from approaching airships. They never had never planned for another force to be at work in the Commonwealth.

Fresh electricity snarled between his teeth.

    False Darkness!

Spearlike, energy flashed from his mouth, blinking across the distance to the nearest crowd of civilians and occupied shinobi. In the rush to evacuate with belongings and family, they;'d never see it coming.

It was a pleasure to sacrifice.

Amid his efforts to direct the departure of the civilians cum refugees from their doomed homes, Ashitaka picked up a familiar chakra signature. It was the guy from the disastrous mission where he nearly died. But as far away from Kumo as was the Land of Waterfalls, the Commonwealth was even further. It was incredibly strange that the man had come so far out here, but despite the painful and cruel wounds that had been inflicted on him, the boy was still willing to engage with the young man. Especially if he was out here to help the refugees.
Oh hey, it's that guy again! I wonder what he...

There was a surge of Lightning and Darkness. Ashitaka barely had time to begin to wonder what he was attacking when there was a sudden and chilling silence amid the screams of the fleeing civilians. He sprinted towards the scene to investigate the source. Those that managed to escape left no mystery as to why. A lone man stood amid a ring of scorched bodies, the remains of their faces twisted in visages of pain and terror. Everything about his appearance was different, but his chakra signature was unmistakable. Surveying the carnage, he felt something awaken in him: a hate that compared to the pain he'd felt back then, and a terrible resolve to right this wrong. Not for his own suffering, since he knew full well that he'd brought that on himself. But for this unforgivable act against people who'd shown no aggression towards their killer, and who were just trying to survive.

"I don't know what kind of terrible life led you to being the way you are now," he began coldly as he formed the Tiger seal and two clones of himself appeared in a triangular formation surrounding the killer. "But this kind of thing I cannot over-" He paused suddenly when he realised something was suspicious about the man. Well, moreso than basically everything was suspicious about him, anyway. "You should be much more powerful than I am..." he mused, then looked over at his clone. Oh. Right. Duh.

Being as he wasn't especially inclined to reveal anything special to his enemy while not even capable of directly observing him, Ashitaka instead chose to, alongside each of his clones, draw and unfold two of his White Dragon Wings and throw them at odd paths to one another so that they would fly in long arcs, with each individual pair flying in opposite directions before all six converged on Irui. They'd all complete three-quarter orbits around him at staggered heights, just near enough for the blades on one side to cut into him before returning to be caught by their throwers. He was fairly confident that what he was looking at was a clone and therefore wouldn't have an especially strong self-defensive instinct.

Post by Kitsuki Kurahasa Tue Sep 08, 2020 1:03 am

The dull roar of the airships drowned out the sound of Kitsuki's modest flight tech. The effect was welcome. She could zip to and from points of interest without scaring the locale populace. The last thing she wanted was to stoke fear. Kitsuki was also glad that she had went with an angelic design. The beautiful gold and white of her aerial armour exuded compassion. When the people looked up in the sky to see her, they'd see hope. The wings of the Quantum Meruit Armour were extended to their full length and blades of Jikanton jetted out from the vents. The golden rays acted as a means of propulsion by bending time around the user, thereby granting them the gift of three dimensional movement. Kitsuki had used this advantage to ferry the most vulnerable civilians out of the potential crash zone. She had spent several hours flying children, the elderly, and the injured to specialized shelters where they could be cared for. She had been extra careful in handling them during her flights. Air travel was the best way to get them to safety but only if she made a point to handle them gingerly. There was of course the battle itself to consider. Kit had cleared her flight path with the local authorities in advance. She didn't want to be mistaken for a Mountain Alliance pilot and so she sought Iwa's permission before zooming about in their airspace. Kitsuki even went as far as to tie a rust colored armband around her armour's right bicep. The armband was associated with an Earth Country non-profit that was operating in the area to provide disaster relief. So long as it was prominently displayed, no one would accost her on the grounds of being an enemy combatant.

Kit had just finished taking a young boy to safety when she heard a boom in the distance. It was like a flash of lighting and even from this distance she could hear screaming. Kit descended down to the town she had been working in. She had reluctantly agreed to partner up with Arisu for this mission. The two of them were well-suited to the task and if things got dicey, they could also put up a decent fight. Kitsuki had wanted to keep a close eye on the alien but the chaos of the mission kept her from analyzing her too closely. Kit disregarded her reservations. Arisu was actively helping those in need and for now that was all that mattered. The investigation could wait until this crisis had passed.

Kit hovered 15 meters in the air directly above Arisu. She shouted out to her comrade below:

"Did you hear that? Something's up!" Kit pointed in the direction of the blast. She wanted to look into it but there was so much more to be done. Their town wasn't fully cleared yet even though they had made substantial progress.

For the people - For the People Empty Re: For the People

Post by Arisu Tue Sep 08, 2020 2:35 pm

War was never good for the civilians. Often the most hurt by war, it was those who weren't participating. An island floating in the air threatened to be dropped on this place, to cause massive damage to the surrounding population and weaken Iwagakure for others to take easier. It was a dirty tactic of war, one that needed to be avoided at all costs, with mitigation of damage in case it wasn't stopped.

Arisu and her Path had taken up with Kitsuki to help evacuate as many people as possible. Working with her was the best for them to show her that they really did care about the world's well being, whether they were allied with the nation they were protecting or not. Targetting civilians was always a no. Konoha may be heading the assault on Iwagakure, and they were allied with Konoha, but Arisu would be one of the first to assist Iwa's civilians, whether or not Konoha wanted her to.

Naitome looked a little different than he had previously. Rather than a single rod piercing his sternum directly, he had a more extensive network of receivers placed across his body at various points. None stuck out more than an inch, but this would allow him to operate longer, in case someone targetted them to remove them. His ears had been pierced with the same things as well, small little bars. His clothing choice was an open chested white robe, white pants, and grey sandals. His entire look was more or less a white and grey scale of color, with the exception of the metal of his forehead protector and the Rinnegan active that marked him as an Otsutsuki to most. He carried no weaponry other than a 2 meter long staff composed primarily of the Black Receiver.

Arisu was more heavily armored, but she was less of a combatant than Naitome was. She carried the meager supplies she usually had in her kit (10 Kunai, 20 Shuriken, and 20 Senbon, 1 Titanium forehead protector, a silk cloak, a uniform body armor, uniform pants, armored combat boots, lightly armored gloves, a titanium mail shirt, and a flak jacket.) In contrast to Naitome, her outfit was mostly darker colored, with dark greys and black rather than than primarily white and light greys. Both of them wore the same identifier of the non-profit they were assisting, so they wouldn't be targeted for combat as an enemy.

Of course, that mattered little when there were people fighting in the evacuation zone.

Arisu and Naitome's heads turned towards the direction of the lightning blast, Arisu's chakra visualization enhancing her perceptive abilities. There wasn't supposed to be fighting down here. The evacuation zone had been established so that they could save civilian lives in particular, in case the island dropped. It seemed that someone wanted to stop them from evacuating, to maximize the impact and devastation in case the island was successfully dropped.

"We'll check it out. Evacuate as many as you can here. If there's a problem, I'll be able to summon you onto the scene." Arisu said. Activating the Tool Creation jutsu, a floating red chakram appeared behind her. From the chakra, a flat disc formed on the air at foot level. Stepping on, Arisu and Naitome lifted into the air. Tilting it forward, the disk took off with Arisu and the path at a high speed, rocketing towards the fight. Of course, it would take some time for her to reach the area herself.

Post by Irui Mikiri Tue Sep 08, 2020 6:53 pm

[OOC: The last time they met, Irui's stamina was C-rank, or 110 CP. His stamina here is just barely above where it was.]

He watched his lightning fly with wide eyes as it caught the first body, meeting the woman at her mid-section. The current split her back open along her spine, and chained into the man at her side before surging forward like a rabid beast. It ripped, clawed and tore, eating its way through them faster than panic took hold. With an ear-ringing crackle it set fire to clothing, cleaved limbs from bodies and spilled charred entrails.

Decimation Irui grinned through bandages, This is what decimation feels like....!. He paced forward, eyeing the tattered clothing, stepping over gore and charred bone. Scorched human skin mixed with acrid ozone and smoke, choking the air. To be Seid-san, to be Shimiko-sama....

In the midst of the strewn bodies and gristle, a familiar boy had appeared, the Genin!. His dark eyes burned with the same intensity as the skirmish in the Land of Waterfalls. Seid had asked them to fight before, for Irui to show his worth to the ANBU. That was before the itching, before the idea of peace made his skin crawl. Fighting him, that would do it! That would make the writhing and convulsing stop. Jashin had been scorned, denied his offering, and this was his second offering. An act of providence! Lord Jashin demanded a sacrifice!

"I don't know what kind of terrible life led you to being the way you are now," The boy growled, his chakra stirring the air.

Irui glanced to his left and right, feeling the ripple as the clones appeared with a weaving of the Tiger Sign. Unusual sign-weaving, and the nature transformation....What are these? He mulled. The kid had learned something since they'd last met, he'd have to find out just what.

"But this kind of thing I cannot over--" The Genin paused, scrutinizing him in return. "You should be much more powerful than I am..."

Irui's lips peeled back, scars splitting along their edges. Not even his jutsu could mask the speckling along his mouth. Ox-- Blades appeared in the the hands of the boy and his doppelgängers, and were immediately hurled--Horse, Dragon, Tiger,--Irui angled his forward shoulder, letting the first pair wheel past. His ears pricked at the somersaulting air, as another pair whirled by, careening slightly, beginning to make a turn. Snake, rat, snake His hands threaded together. Lightning raced across tongue.

An offensive diversion... He chewed, [i]

They were irrelevant, the real target was the boy, and he strung together a familiar line of seals, terminating with a folded snake. His jaw cracked open, extending from it a cluster of wickedly thin plasma spears as he jerked his head to the side. The blades the boy had hurled would be caught, severed in half and reduced to molten scrap. The lightning moved almost faster than he could, surging with horrifying speed for the boy, and double the strength of its initial strike. If he missed the boy, or his clones, the laser would spear the nearest building and rip itself wildly through its exterior; carving through sixty-meters of concrete and steel. He'd tear it all down around them.

The people, these buildings, this city. All of it. His god demanded sacrifice.

As the lightning surged, Irui moved, his jaws stretched wide as he sprang forward, dragging the Lightning spears with him letting it slice wildly. The the energy fizzled and died as he clenched his teeth together, vapor pouring ghoulishly from his mouth as he raced forward.

    Post by Ashitaka_Inuzuka Tue Sep 08, 2020 10:29 pm

If this really is a clone... Ashitaka thought as he responded to his opponent making hand seals with his own. While Lightning techs were inconceivably fast, Wood was blessed with fewer requirements to activate. In fact, the one he was about to use didn't normally have any, but he wasn't about to take chances. In virtually the same instant as the young man opened his mouth, the boy aimed his hand straight forward, and a massive tree appeared just in time to almost intercept the powerful ray of illuminated death. 'Almost', because thanks to a nigh-unstoppable power combined with an inconvenient elemental matchup, the deflected attack still managed to tear through the tree and wound the kid's arm.

However, the clones were not idle in this time. Closing the distance -and leaving the returning blades to stick in the ground behind them, one also formed a Snake seal (albeit this time it was normally required for the jutsu) and summoned a small swarm of large roots to erupt from the ground beneath Irui at explosive speeds. At the same time, the other was also flipping through hand seals: Ram, Ox, Boar, then Snake twice. With his attention on Ashitaka, it was unlikely that the Jashinist would see the dual attacks coming soon enough to react in time. A few seconds after the roots would erupt, so too would the pillars. Four black monoliths would burst from the ground and surround their target and shoot wooden beams with cups at the end designed to trap face and limbs in paralyzing orbs at him. Then the prison stopped forming as both clones were de-summoned by the excruciating pain their owner was in.

Ashitaka was beyond the point of trying to hide his tears as he rolled around in the rapidly-disintegrating chips and splinters of the tree he'd used to defend himself, clutching his right arm with his left hand as the former's fingers spasmed involuntarily. He reflexively bit his own arm and that somehow made it hurt less, but only for a moment. If he had the presence of mind to process it, he'd know that Irui had him dead to rights while he struggled with the agony. What made matters worse is that in the brief intervals in which he had a view of the street he was trying to protect, he could see that the half of it prior to the "shade" of his tree was littered with charred pieces of bodies for dozens of meters as every adult unfortunate enough to be caught in the beam's radius had been brutally cut down. The children, while too short to be hit directly, were in many cases struck by the boiling blood of their own dying parents. The sights and sounds were experiences that the boy was pretty sure would haunt him for the rest of his life.

For the people - For the People Empty Re: For the People

Post by Irui Mikiri Sat Sep 12, 2020 12:15 am

As lightning poured from gaping jaws, Irui witnessed something impossible-- it had to be! He caught the movement of hand-signs for earth and water style, felt the fluctuation of chakra. Then all at once, the ground exploded; ripping  and tearing itself open as trees of all things burst from the soil beneath his feet. He felt them first at his soles, then racing up his ankle. A tree brust from the boy's body as well-- practically surging from his arm!

What is this jutsu?! His mind raced. He'd sensed Earth and Water only moments before, and now this boy was summoning a forest from thin air. The wood began pale, flesh-like even and rapidly darkened, cracked, and sprouted leaves. Even as his lightning bit into the tree and gouged it ferociously, Irui could only watch as it held fast and prevented him from severing the boy's arm.

Cooked flesh and screaming reached him over the groaning of the trees, and Irui found himself pinned uncomfortably between a tangle of pillars and branches. Malformed from its interruption, the haphazard prison held him, snagged at his clothes and skin. This boy, the same one who'd hid in the Black Site had called trees from the ground with Ninjutsu. Irui trained against the beam pressing into his cheek, his skin. It was real alright.

"Look at you...." He breathed, "You can summon life with your bare hands, and they waste your talents." Irui twisted  his head, his chin scraping against the wood as he wrenched his skull free, and strained through gritted teeth against the bindings around his shoulders and chest.

"You listen to--" He grunted,  pulling hard on his arm, heard his elbow crack. "To people who push papers, who will never have what you have. What we have." He cracked a wide grin, and for a moment, he felt the disguise falter, fragmenting over his bandages. "Look at all these people....."

    Step.

    Step.

    Step.

It was quite a sight to stare at your doppelgänger, as it struggled and frothed at the mouth Irui regarded the clone coolly, and raised his hands as he came upon the screaming Genin. The False Darkness had split the boy's arm open, what a pity. Lightning crackled in his hands, fingers curled into claws, and with a hiss, he swung forward, directing an electrically charged current of sonic energy into the boy.

"Just like you're Jounin," He hissed, referring to the woman at the Black Site.

[Assuming the Irui Style: Thunderclap struck the barely conscious boy, and rendered him unconscious, turn the page. Ashitaka is invited to Lake Lao Gai-- I mean Kumo.]

Irui would stand over the Genin briefly, his senses prickling at the approach of chakra. Others would soon follow, he knew his time was short. He reached down, grabbed the limp body by the neckband and hoisted him over his shoulder. His knees bent briefly under the weight, but with a focusing of his energies, he felt the fatigue slip away. A flourish of chakra at his feet would accelerate him forward on the Body Flicker technique, moving deeper into the city to blend and hide amongst the civilians. Once propelled a second sign would Suppress his chakra, concealing him from anyone peering too close. He touched down briefly, if only to adjust his cargo, and continued moving into the crowds. He'd wind his way through the streets, choosing the more densely populated areas. With casualties, there were bound to be injured survivors, who was he, but someone carrying a child.

    [Tentative action and exit]

For the people - For the People Empty Re: For the People

    Post by Ashitaka_Inuzuka Sat Sep 12, 2020 1:57 am

Ashitaka was recovering from his injury quickly, but if the approaching enemy was any indication, not quickly enough. Worse, as was the case from the time he'd come much closer to dying, the healing was at least as painful as the wounding as fried nerves came back to life and scorched flesh and bone became raw again and started reaching out for their kindred. As he'd expected, it was a clone, and his revealing his new abilities before it was indeed a mistake. But one error was met with another, as what he hoped was the real enemy revealed himself and approached him. He spent time approaching and talking slowly and dramatically, and in that time, he healed further. He'd reached the point where he was almost able to stand, if not necessarily use hand seals or anything that required the help of his left hand at its peak, by the time the man started charging the familiar chakra pairing for his next. Since he was unable to rise to his feet and either fight or flee, survival was really the best he could hope for. The man taunted him as he got closer, his words adding to the jutsu in its reminder of how things panned out on that mission too. Though he'd gotten much stronger, he was just as helpless now as he was back then. It was soul-crushing.

So powerful were the pain and memories in fact, that they shut out the events of the present. In a flash, he was back there again, lying in a pool of his own blood on the ground as the ringing in his ears vied with the unsteady rush of his own ragged breathing and the arrhythmic pounding of his heart for domination of his sharp hearing. Then he felt like he was floating, and he heard the recover team's voices again, going on about his uselessness and how his failure nearly cost Konoha its idol. He heard the chief surgeon's name in his head and remembered the plan to tear him apart to feed the village's elites, how he owed it to them for imposing on the city with his existence. He tensed up around the lifting force as the spirit of rebellion awoke in him once more.

"I won't be taken again..." he said as he made use of his dangling limbs and clasped his good hand against his bad one, ignoring the agony racing up his left arm as he forced his chakra to obey his commands. A cluster of finger-thin roots exploded up under his would-be captor with the intent of ensnaring him as they wedged the two of them apart, forcing his own hands open with enough power that the fingers on his already injured one broke. "You vultures!"

Though his technique was, his comment wasn't directed at the scarred man, although it certainly wouldn't have had much in the way of modification if it was. Ashitaka his the ground with a grunt followed by a low moan as he slowly struggled to regain control of his wounded limb. He grabbed his left hand with his right and with cringes and cries he started forcing the bones back into place so that they'd heal something resembling properly. His vision blurred intensely as he lay on the ground trying to recover and hoping that his enemy didn't have any more tricks up his sleeve. To his dawning horror, he realized he was crying, right there on the ground in full view of anyone who happened to be near enough to see.

(I sure am a sorry mess right now, all blood and tears... I hope there aren't any girls around to see me like this.)

And then the rocks came. And the sticks, and the kicks. First one at a time, then in small clusters, then in fusillades and barrages as the surviving villagers who were too far away from the violence to know who was responsible for what descended on the Leaf Oppressor in a swarm. As many beat the durable but nonetheless sobbing child into submission if not necessarily unconsciousness, a few took axes and other tools to try to free Irui from his bondage with futile strikes and words of encouragement. He was set free when Ashitaka could no longer focus on thoughts coherent enough for words let alone anything as complex as jutsu. The scarred man was thanked for his bravery in standing up to the tyrant's dog, and the boy finally gave up trying to hold himself together.

For the people - For the People Empty Re: For the People

Post by Arisu Sat Sep 12, 2020 3:12 pm

    OOC: Travel complete 3/3

Arisu and the Naitome pain had made incredible time reaching the source of the fighting, considering the sounds were still ongoing and a fight was still happening. The platform they were riding allowed them to fly above the buildings with little issue. They head a loud sound, as if coming from a thunder crack, followed by the sound of a tree falling onto the ground. It was incredibly close at that point, and as they eclipsed the last building in their way, the entire view opened up.

Immediately upon coming onto the scene, Naitome leapt off the platform, landing on the ground, brandishing his staff. One end was sharpened to a point, while the other was a dull edge. Arisu chose to land the platform behind him, with it starting to shift into the visage of a large shield in front of her. Their linked chakra visualization took in the scene pretty easily. The residual chakra in the trees identified them as jutsu creations, and the large child crying had a matching chakra signature. Senju were one of the only ones with that sort of technique, and the Senju clan was a Konoha one. He looked to be quite injured, and set upon by a pair of shinobi and civilians, something Arisu wasn't about to let stand. Konoha and Kiri were allied, so she was rather quick to protect her ally and side with him. There were charred corpses around, probably the noise she'd heard earlier, and the boy's arms were charred as well, his opponent being a bandaged man.

"Summoning Jutsu." Arisu's hands had moved to form a quick sign, and Kitsuki would feel a light ethereal tug as Arisu attempted to summon her. She could resist it if she chose to, but given that Arisu had informed her that she'd summon her if she needed her, that would likely be the call she was expecting. While they were still evacuating people, a mob and shinobi battle over here required more immediate attention to deescalate. However, it wasn't just Kitsuki she had reached out to with the summons. Ashitaka also would feel a light ethereal pull on his chakra, something that wasn't malicious in nature, but was rather more tentative and questioning.

As he was a sensory type, he could likely feel the similar energy signature from Arisu herself, recognizing the difference between it being her and someone else, like Irui. He could accept the call or refuse, but acceptance would summon him away from the mob and next to Arisu and likely Kitsuki, behind the shield and Naitome.

If he accepted, Arisu would turn and kneel next to him, placing a hand on his back, leveling her gaze towards him. "You're safe now. What happened here, how can we help?"

Naitome kept watch over the group, but his focus was primarily shifted to the two identically bandaged individuals. They seemed the largest threat here, the rest were civilians. "This area is being primed for evacuation. All civilians should leave the area, now. To the shinobi, stay. Civilians were killed here, and that's unacceptable." he said, while Arisu had begun to kneel and address Ashitaka.

Post by Kitsuki Kurahasa Tue Sep 15, 2020 8:34 pm

Kitsuki nodded at Arisu's offer to check it out. There was more evacuating that needed to be done in this town and it wouldn't be right to leave without completing the vast majority of it. She wasn't sure what Arisu meant by "summoning" her but she decided she'd trust the alien regarding whatever that entailed. If worse came to worse, she'd have to trust Zizz to counteract anything negative that the outworlder tried to do. Kit flew off and continued to rescue people who needed help. She guided people to safety, flew the grievously injured to rapid response medical stations, and destroyed large pieces of debris before they hurtled to the ground. Kitsuki had just rescued a family from a burning building when she felt a gentle tug on her personhood. She was no stranger to the manipulation of space-time. This was Arisu's signal. Although the tug was strong, Kit could tell that unless she gave in, she'd go nowhere.

She briefly spoke with the evacuation coordinator before leaving. The town had been 90% cleared and his personnel could get the rest to the shelters without her help. The situation in the town must be important and so once she gained confirmation that her job here was done, she allowed herself to be whisked to Arisu's location.

One second she was here, the next she was there. Kit blinked and saw the chaos that Irui had spawned. People were running and screaming from the nucleus of the attack. She immediately went on guard. Arisu and Naitome were nearby and appeared to be safe which was good. Arisu then summoned a child directly in front of them. He was a boy but he looked as though he had toured Hades. Kitsuki looked at the frightened and battered kid. Arisu was speaking to him and she didn't want to overwhelm him with a dual interrogation. Kitsuki was on the ground but she knew that if she wanted a better idea of the situation, she'd need a bird's eye view. Kit activated the wings on her armour and the golden constructs stretched outwards as she slowly began to climb into the sky. She was hovering ten feet in the air. She wanted to hear what Ashitaka had to say but also be ready to take to the skies the second he was done speaking.

Attacking civilians?! What kind of monster would do such a thing?!

Kit's mind cycled through the horrors she had learned since becoming a kunochi. There were no shortage of villains who'd do such a thing. One of them had even led her own nation.

[OOC: Note, I know Kit's post references Irui, but I doubt she knows its him.]

By Jashin you're heavy! Irui glowered as he hoisted the child over his shoulder. He gritted his teeth and lurched forward on unsteady footing.  Chakra began to surge to his soles, lightening his load, and soon he found his stride. Every. Clanging. Poking. Sharp. Stride.

    clang-clang-ckash-clash

Why is he so freakishly muscular?! Irui strained, G-oh my god, whatdotheyfeedtheirchildren?! My knees--!! He gasped. H-H'oh god, its like he's-- I need to do more kegels--!!

The air around them changed, the familiar ringing of chakra pricked his senses. He stole a glance to the boy-- something was happening. Then, with a whipcrack the boy was gone, spirited away by the pulsation of a Summoning Jutsu. He hopped forward mid-stride, and paused to turn back briefly, looking in the direction of the evacuation sight. Someone had arrived, someone very powerful and with the ability to freely call others to themselves.

[i]He must have allies[i/] Irui mulled as he pulled his hood forward.

He moved along the farthest wall. As he drew nearer to the second evacuation zone, the thicker the throngs of people grew. Lingering families, small groups carrying as much as they could carry. He passed several hauling clothes and bags, a man pulled livestock. Beneath the bandages, a team of Leaf Shinobi darted past, sprinting to the massacre, blowing urgently on whistles. With his chakra suppressed, he blended with the masses, moving under camouflage. Irui held back as a cart rattled by, heaped with bags of grain, and drew himself in behind the workers trailing it.

Several blocks away, a weathered and brutalized clone was pulled free of its restraints. Its fingers curled into a half-tiger sign at its side; broadcasting a chakra signal.

For the people - For the People Empty Re: For the People

    Post by Ashitaka_Inuzuka Thu Sep 17, 2020 11:09 pm

Ashitaka felt a gentle prodding, and then suddenly his everything lurched as he was brought near-instantly out of his situation. Given his attunement to his immediate surroundings, the violent shift made him immensely nauseous. However, since he had forgotten to eat this weak, he was stuck dry-heaving as his mind try to recover from the jarring relocation while his wounds stitched closed with all the pleasantry of a limb regaining circulation times like a thousand. His quarry had beaten him and was escaping, the peasants hated him for being a Konoha nin, and now he was writhing at the feet of someone with the unmistakable chakra of an Otsusuki. There were words being sent his way, and amid the sensory overload he was experiencing, he struggled to process them. When he did, he responded.

"Kumo bastard killed civilians, they think it was me because, you know... the invasion and all. I can't go back down there or they'll attack me. I can't fight them because... all the reasons. Please, stop him before he gets away. I'll make you something nice," he offered, he hated asking for favors, but since this Otsu wasn't in the process of impaling him with her chakra spears and trying to erase his soul, Ashitaka figured it wouldn't hurt to make a deal with her.

He tried and failed to throw up again, his mind still reeling from the pain and disorientation. He could barely see what was going on around him, so he was forced to trust in the good intentions of the people nearby. Which given that he was deep in enemy territory and his side were the invaders supporting war criminals and terrorists, was an extremely untenable situation to be in. Speaking of which, he looked up at the looming shadows of the battling airships and the numerous other things that had joined them in the sky. He knew it was wrong to do so, but he really hoped that "his" side would lose that skirmish and fail to drop the island. The absence of the calamity would drag out the war and risk increasing the losses on both sides, but he really wasn't sure which was truly the lesser of two evils.

"Are they right?" he asked after a moment of painful silence as his wounds relentlessly continued closing, but his regeneration healed neither the agony nor the memory of getting them. "Is Konoha the tyrannical and oppressive force in this conflict?"

"Kitsuki, his abductor." Arisu said, pointing the direction he had been fleeing. "Quick description?" she asked Ashitaka, so they knew who they were trying to track.

She'd stand guard with him though, marveling as he was healing up. Senju blood was incredibly useful. An interesting evolution of Otsutsuki DNA mixing with Human bodies, enhancing them when they interbred. Keeping the Human mortality from ending.

"No uprising is without bloodshed. It's our duty to minimize casualties of the innocent." She replied. Whether Konoha was tyrannical or not wasn't really something on her mind at the moment. As far as she knew, Konoha wasn't the one actually attacking the island, hence why they were assisting with the evacuation. While they had been working with the Mountain Alliance, the actual attack on the island was spearheaded by those wishing to damage Iwa's resolve and morale.

"Konoha wouldn't like the excess damage to their nation though, if that's what you mean."

    -

Naitome noticed the chakra that was channeling through the clone's half tiger seal. A jutsu was being primed, and civilians were in the way. He launched forward and aimed the point of the staff towards the man's chest, seeking to drive the Black Receiver into him with all his strength. Arisu needed to be able to exert her influence on him to shut him down and question him. Of course, she wasn't aware that this was a clone. She knew someone had been trying to abduct Ashitaka, but hadn't gotten a good look at him. Still, with Ashitaka safe, that was part of the job done.

Post by Kitsuki Kurahasa Sun Sep 20, 2020 1:17 pm

Kitsuki's heartbeat quickened when Ashitaka identified the culprit as being a Kumo-Nin. It was a disturbing development. Kitsuki knew that Konoha was backing the Mountain Alliance but crashing an island into their own disputed territory was a bit much even for them. She came to the conclusion that either this was an unsanctioned mission or the Hokage, like his predecessors, had lost his mind. But Konoha's sins didn't explain why Kumogakure would be attacking civilians. She knew Jashinism ran rampant in that nation but this would represent a new low.

Kit swore to get to the bottom of this.

The young man was delirious. The information he provided was helpful but he was succumbing to the trauma of the situation. She felt for the kid. He was just trying to help them and now he was confronted with the reality that he might be serving an evil institution. Kit knew that feeling very well. She couldn't dwell in sympathy though. They had a terrorist to stop. Kit held out her hand and in a flash her trusted cane appeared in her hand. With the flick of a switch, Amicus Curiae configured itself into an elegant bow. She reached behind her back to her quiver (secured underneath her armour) and drew an arrow which was noticed and aimed.

    "Kitsuki, his abductor."
    "On it"

Arisu was still speaking to the young lad. The second he gave the description she needed, she'd let loose on the culprit. Kitsuki's aim was nothing to write home about when she acted alone but with the power of Zizz, she was like a sophisticated ballistic missile system. She could see Naitome engaging with someone and she momentarily shifted her aim to his opponent. She would switch targets without a moment's hesitation but until she had a clear description to go off of, she'd focus on helping her comrade.

Just say the word.... The hovering Angel thought as she prepared to fire.

For the people - For the People Empty Re: For the People

Post by Irui Mikiri Sun Sep 20, 2020 8:22 pm

A black rod rammed itself into the clone's gut. It spasmed, convulsing briefly, before a flash of chakra tore its existence to shreds.

    "Ah...." Irui said aloud.

Irui wound his way through the dusty streets choked with people. Wind kicked bits of trash and debris. Tighter and tighter the masses grew. He knew a herd of lemmings when he saw one; lines of people following one another towards a destination they themselves knew nothing about. It was human instinct, ANBU said, to follow one another, to take directions from signs and other things. At the end of it all, they were all lizard brains, housed in calcium with layers of flesh and blood. Primitive instinct took the reins in times of panic and discord.

Teeth sank into his lower lip, biting down hard as he chewed back at the itching spidering over his skin. His God yearned for a debt to be repaid. His own suffering was a small interest payment. Irui stole himself away into the nearest, doorway, a now-vacant home.

It was small, modest. Built almost entirely of adobe, with cured wooden beams cutting through the interior. Someone had been through recently--pillaging the kitchen and main room for things. A table had been overturned, drawers had been left ajar. Incense still curled in the air. Quickly he strode to the living quarters, pushing aside the door. Clothes had been strewn across the bed, ripped. The mattress had been split down the middle with ragged tears-- an amateur thief looking for stashed Ryo.

His enemy would be looking for a man like him; wearing the robes of Jashin. He brought a hand to his face, touching the bandages, and he pulled at them slightly. They knew his bandages, they didn't know his face. Irui didn't know his own face. It wasn't his skin.

"Its not my skin..." He whispered bitterly, and scanned the room. Folded over a chair, a maroon traveling cloak stood out, and there hanging from the wall he spied a kasa-- the wide-brimmed hat of the rice farmers. He unbuttoned the top half of his cloak, sliding his arms out and let it hang loosely at his waist, fastened by his belt. Irui paused a moment, staring at the mirror.

A bandaged boy stared back with a gaunt face he didn't recognize.

"I've made my choice, Niko-san...." Irui murmured in the dead quiet, as bandages fell to the floor. "And you weren't there for the worst of it."

The first requirement of joining the masses: He had to dress like them. He threw the maroon coat over himself, and snatched the rice hat from the wall. Thin white tassels hung from the rim, shielding much of the head from the relentless Tsuchi no Kuni sun.  Irui would become a traveler, prepared for the long, arid road. With purposeful hands he grabbed fistfuls of clothing and stuffed them into a pair of bags that he slung over his shoulder. This was fast, yet deliberate-- he was aiming to deceive, to work under camouflage. Like a chameleon, he'd changed his appearance, color and all. The second requirement: A purpose. Desperate to flee from the violent shinobi, wounded by their wars, clinging to the remains of his life. He caught his reflection in the mirror.

Look at how they'd scarred him.

Irui turned his head slightly, his eyes narrowing on the alien features that caught the light. Canyons of tissue, mottled islands, a patchwork of fresh stitches from the night before all smooth and glossy. All of it ragged and bleached pale, cut through by darkened scar-lines. He traced his jaw line, poking delicately at the trenches and pock-marks, where Mora's flame had gouged and blistered.  Irui craned his head, eyeing the lines of old incisions, where Nameda's team had slit open his throat and done their work. His eyes paused over the old scars from the Chuunin Exam, where Yoshitsune and Q's devastating combination had failed to kill him, and he thought briefly to Kitsuki.

She'd hated him, found his methods repulsive; casting genjutsu upon a girl's bear, stealing the answer key. If only she'd known these would be the least of his crimes. If only she could see him now, he mused. What would she think?

Irui turned, and paced from the house, tossing the thought aside. With the wind dancing down the street, he ducked into the mob of people.

For the people - For the People Empty Re: For the People

    Post by Ashitaka_Inuzuka Mon Sep 21, 2020 12:58 am

Ashitaka's two "rescuers" had stood around talking long enough for him to finish recovering on his own. He got to his feet. When asked for a description of the man who'd injured him and killed a few dozen civilians, he made to point at the clone- which was currently being obliterated by the Otsu girl's Pain.

"Sonofa-" he took a deep breath. Let out a sigh. A ninja must be composed at all times. "Jashinist. Lightning. Sound. ...Void? Sensor, probably Suppressing. Follow the scent of a burnt corpse." He used his Sensory power to trace the chakra as it raced back to its source before joining it in being suppressed. He wasn't able to re-identify his foe, but he had a direction. Suppressing his own chakra, he threw up the half-Tiger, then half-Snake seal and took off in the direction of the last known response from the unique chakra signature. "The civilians will be entering the shelter! Look for anyone who isn't!" When he got within range of the nearly instantly gone chakra signature and dropped the seal and placed his hands on the ground.

The subharmonic ring of his Sensory dome filled the air. Even the civilians within its range who had no way of perceiving chakra got the distinct impression that someone was looking at, looking into them. Ashi wasn't being subtle. He wanted his enemy to know the hunt was on. He lifted his hands and turned to face the remains of a house that had been ransacked and looted. There was no way the man could have been in here with nothing valuable to- he sniffed. He learned that he was wrong, and the man had been here, and recently.

But why? he wondered as he looked around, not seeing anything of potential value in the building. It looked like an ordinary citizen's home. He'd heard about the apartment that the Sage Tools had been found in, but he was fairly certain that everyone on the planet had learned a valuable lesson from that fiasco. The scent trail led back outside and into the crowds, where it was smothered by the stress and terror of the masses. By this point, the survivors of Irui's attack had joined the other refugees, and the scent of burned bodies was everywhere.

A snarl twisted the lower half of his normally impossibly-stoic face. This man had committed an atrocity, attacked him, and was about to get away with it! How can the world be this unfair? With all of the advantages it seemed to give them, Ashitaka found himself tempted to give into evil. It would take virtually no effort to kill everyone in his immediate vicinity, leaving only his target standing. He'd heard of a more harmless jutsu available to his Mokuton that would have allowed him to flatten the civilians without hurting them, but he'd neglected to learn it. And to pay for that negligence, he was now looking for a grain of salt in a bag of sugar. Worse, he had help now that was not exactly helpful beyond removing him from immediate danger, an act that they'd quickly extinguished all gratitude for by destroying the clone so they'd have no frame of reference from which to search for their quarry.

He couldn't go home with another failure on his back. It was reaching the point where he was starting to feel like a liability by sheer force of his misfortune. They'd kick him out of the village for sure. Maybe that's why he was out in the wilderness to begin with, and he was only taken in because the Inuzuka were too low on the proverbial totem pole to know that he was meant to die out there, alone and unloved, lest he bring his overbearing curse into a populated area. If he couldn't accomplish this one thing, if he couldn't bring back this one success... maybe it was best for everyone if he never came back at all. Once again, the despair was beat back by anger. He took a deep breath, and shouted.

"HEY ASSHOLE! WHY WOULD YOU MAKE ME LIVE THROUGH THAT? MAYBE TRY THINKING OF OTHER PEOPLE'S PROBLEMS ONCE IN A WHILE INSTEAD OF JUST YOUR OWN!"

For the people - For the People Empty Re: For the People

Post by Arisu Mon Sep 21, 2020 9:30 pm

Naitome's aim was true, the rod penetrating the clone's gut. Arisu was about to halt the man's movement and seize control of his body when she realized he was in fact, not a real person. It was a clone!

Of course, she'd wasted valuable time by going for the clone, and the real Irui was lost in the crowd at this point. "Sorry." "Sorry." Both Naitome and Arisu spoke at the same time. She had to apologize of course, because she'd targeted the one thinking he was about to use a jutsu, but it had been a diversion.

Arisu's shield platform once again landed on the ground, and she hopped onto it. Naitome moved forward, going to the crowd from behind, easily catching up with them. Arisu's platform soared her ahead of the people, and she landed in front of them, activating another of her Rinnegan abilities. Chains appeared from her back. She placed her palms on the ground, activating the Doton technique, Earth Shore Return, and a massive rock wall closed off most of the road people were running down. There was a 10 foot gap on one side where people could pass through easily. Her platform once again became a shield in front of her, for protection, while Naitome made his way up to her via the roofs.

"There's a danger among the crowd. We'll allow several of you through at a time, but the transformation jutsu won't fool our eyes. Calmly and orderly. Proceed. Groups of 10 please. Remove all hoods and face obstructions." Luckily, they were good at evacuating people. Naitome's staff was at attention, while all 10 of Arisu's chains floated around the wall she'd made, shield in front of her to keep herself safe.

The two of the Otsutsuki would watch as people passed through, letting in groups of 10 at a time, both of them standing guard at the entrance they'd created. Chakra suppression would work decently enough, but their eyes could see active chakra in a different way than sensory could feel it. If there was a transformation jutsu active, they'd be able to tell. They pulled aside anyone whose faces were completely obscured.

Kitsuki's blood ran cold when Ashitaka identified the attacker as being a Jashinist from Kumo. They'd have to be insane to so boldly attack an evacuation effort. The Mizukage would need to hear about this. Kitsuki didn't stay to hear the rest of the Senju's outburst. She zoomed overhead and tried to pick out anyone matching the description. Naitome had popped a clone so the real one had to be nearby. Kitsuki didn't want to start a panic by flying overhead with a bow but it couldn't be helped. These people were in mortal danger and unless they found the mystery terrorist soon, more could die. Kit wasn't sure what to do next but luckily, Arisu was one step ahead of her. The alien constructed a makeshift roadblock via Doton. The checkpoint would permit them to screen civilians as they made their way to the shelters. Kitsuki flew to the Earth wall and perched on top of it. She aimed her bow at those going through the narrow pass. All of this commotion was provoking the civilians but fortunately the local shinobi cooperated with them and ordered people to file through the blockade in an orderly fashion.

Kit was glad that she had worn the armband. At a time like this, a flying shinobi with a bow was liable to be seen as threat no matter how angelic she looked. Kitsuki guessed that Arisu's Doujutsu was the means by which she'd be able to pick out the Jashinist. If so, the second trouble started, Kit would loose an arrow into the man's knee. A non-lethal shot, but one with enough speed and penetrating power to end the threat before it had the chance to begin anew.

Zizz...help me hold back. We can't afford any collateral damage.....

For the people - For the People Empty Re: For the People

Post by Irui Mikiri Thu Sep 24, 2020 10:17 pm

A shadow passed over the stree, he could feel its presence in the way the crowd ducked and turned. A girl, airborne on makeshift wings flitted past. They cut ahead of the street touching down far ahead.

    "Whats this?"

A chorus of voices drew his eyes. At the far end of the street, the mob had been split by a large earthen barrier. The pace of the people had slowed, bodies packed together shoulder to shoulder, a forest of skin and bright fabrics. There was anger and concern. After all a man had just attacked their neighbors; cut men and women down before their children. Who were these shinobi, they'd be wondering, who gave them the authority?

"HEY ASSHOLE!" He heard the Genin scream, "WHY WOULD YOU MAKE ME LIVE THROUGH THAT? MAYBE TRY THINKING OF OTHER PEOPLE'S PROBLEMS ONCE IN A WHILE INSTEAD OF JUST YOUR OWN!"

Indeed, irui thought from beneath his kasa. He tilted his head, watching as the hundreds of people continued to surge forward. Gingerly he took slow but deliberate steps, eyeing the group atop the barrier. He was far enough to the back that he had plenty of distance to work with, but it was a window that would not last forever. Sooner or later he'd be passing through the ten foot barrier, either the left or the right, and inevitably they would find him. It was standard crowd control-- creating a choke point and forcing the populace to move through a narrow gap to screen.

He paused as the crowd slowed again, moving and stopping with them, and sniffed the air. Even in the crush of bodies he could make it out-- the unmistakable odor of sewer. These kunoichi were expecting Ninjutsu, he'd give it to them in a different style. With another whiff, he moved forward, standing once again along the oxen cart loaded with grain, and came to stand along. He knelt with a slip of paper emblazoned with fiery kanji from his pouch and inserted it into the finger-hole of the sewer lid, using the crumpled shape to hold it in place. When he rose, he withdrew a second and deftly placed it on the underside of the cart, a simply a nonchalant movement.

As the crowd continued to approach, he now moved diagonally at a slow and even pace, keeping low. Pacing was crucial; as each batch of civilians made their way through the openings the further the people moved. So long as his chakra remained suppressed any sensory apparatus would have difficulty detecting him, and amongst the sea of sweaty, breathing, warm bodies, he'd become invisible.

You want to corral them to find me.... But these people are not your people. This is a foreign nation, of which our villages are guests in. Irui mulled from beneath his rice hat. They've already been attacked, rumors are being stoked. Why should they listen or trust you? To these people we re one and the same-- shinobi fighting one another while their village burns to the ground. You're foolish to think you have any jurisdiction here.

A passing glance confirmed alleys to the left and right, a store-front or two.

For the people - For the People Empty Re: For the People

    Post by Ashitaka_Inuzuka Sun Sep 27, 2020 2:24 am

As the newcomers to the fray herded the throng civilians into two lines, Ashitaka followed the flow of the crowd on the left, meaning to go help the old lady who seemed to be struggling to stay on her feet among the pushing crowd. But he was getting pushed away from her until he made a couple of hand seals and Yang energy surged through his muscles, causing them to bulge slightly and give his skin a faint greenish undertone. Then he burled his way over to where he last saw her, stopping when something caught his eye. He identified it as a piece of paper stuck in a manhole. Curious, he tugged it out, only to discover that it was an explosive tag.

Shit! he thought and quickly ripped it in half, destroying the seal. Then he began to frantically search for other tags that might have been left in the area, forgetting his quarry and even the old lady he saw earlier as he focused on preventing the chaos that would have been caused by the explosions. He didn't see any others though, so he went back to trying to help the old lady and started walking past an ox cart that he doubted was going to make it past the wall unless the latter's creator made some adjustments. It didn't take long before he caught up to her.

Although 'caught up to' wasn't quite accurate. For that matter, neither was 'her', as was revealed when he accidentally stepped on the secondary cloak trailing behind the person and the jarring shift of its movement pulled it away from them and revealed a decidedly masculine arm. Well, now he had two things to apologize for, but at least the man only knew about one of them.

"Oh my gosh, I'm totally sorry about that, Ma'- uh... Sir," he said as he handed Irui back his extra cloak, looking sincerely chagrined. "I didn't mean to step on it, honest."

He felt a growing static from the civilians around him and was sure he knew what they were thinking: the damn Leaf Nin not only invading their country but also harassing the citizens. They were all terrified by the sweeping shadows of the handful of airships battling overhead, and he couldn't blame them. Especially with the terrorist prowling around and making matters worse by killing people from within the confines of the protected area, which prevented Ashitaka from being able to construct defenses for the ones who were still on their way to the proper shelters. He wanted to go home, but he came all the way out here to protect these people, to show them that Konoha wasn't as bad as the propaganda was making them out to be. And leaving them to die at the hands of psychopaths and falling rocks was the opposite of that, so he stayed no matter how ungrateful they were.

The pressure of facing yet another seemingly impossible task with doubtless unbearable consequences for failure was mounting on his mind, chest, and shoulders. It felt like a stone goliath was standing on them. He was struggling just to breathe, let alone think. It felt like something inside him wanted to explode.

For the people - For the People Empty Re: For the People

Post by Arisu Thu Oct 01, 2020 12:32 pm

The evacuation continued in a nice and orderly fashion, so for the moment, Arisu had nothing further to do other than continue as she had been. The wall had been a good idea. Directing Naitome to go and do the same thing at the alley entrances, he did so with haste, while she continued allowing people through, her chains still able to keep people back. She didn't need both of them to be sorting the crowd, it was just handy.

Naitome went by rooftops to avoid the crowds, keeping an eye out for anyone trying to sneak down the alleys. When he got to the entrances of the alleys, he pulled up a wall of stone, and then leapt across the street to do the same on the other side. Then he would stand watch, waiting for any spikes in chakra that would indicate a shinobi being present. It was possible they'd already lost the attacker, or he was hiding in a building, but that would work just the same. If they could evacuate all the citizens here without incident, then they'd be good.

For the people - For the People Empty Re: For the People

Post by Irui Mikiri Mon Oct 05, 2020 10:05 pm

[OOC: I am so terribly, terribly sorry, I totally missed Nyg's post]

He felt the tug and slip of fabric over bandages and half-turned. Irui looked only for a half second into the eyes of the boy whom he'd fought less than an hour ago. He was battered, his skin colored with dirt and grime, but here he was alive and well.

"Oh my gosh, I'm totally sorry about that, Ma'- uh... Sir," The boy was sputtering. "I didn't mean to step on it, honest."

His fingers twitched into the Horse Seal, but he didn't resist, didn't dare to snatch it back and waste precious movement. With enemies before him and to the front on the wall, and people all around, his jaw set as the realization struck him. There was no getting out of this situation without paying a heavy price, one that he would pay dearly for. What did they think he was, raving mad? Irui loosened his grip on the cloak, and let the it fall free. He reached up to the brim of the rice hat, and pulled it from his head and discarded it, letting it hit the ground.

For a moment he turned his face to the sun, and inhaled deeply, and settled his eyes on Kitsuki atop the wall. A thin white-toothed grin creased his cracked lips. The raging din of the crowd faded into the background as white noise. There she was, in all her glory, proud and strong, defending vulnerable. Would she recognize him after Mora's flames had remade him, purified him in Jashin's fire? Time for a reunion.

"Defending the weak," He called out with a scorched voice, "You'd know all about that, Kurahasa Kitsuki. You're being so thorough, with the Earth Release, and Sensing Barriers...." He cast a side-eyed glance to the Leaf-nin. "Its all so very, very theatrical. I attack him and you shoot me, or I attack you--" He gestured loosely at the wall beneath Kitsuki's feet.

Irui raised his hands above his head.

"It's all very theatrical, don't you think?"

For the people - For the People Empty Re: For the People

    Post by Ashitaka_Inuzuka Tue Oct 06, 2020 8:23 pm

"Um..." Ashitaka began with no shortage of confusion as, rather than accept the cloth, the man just turned away from him and discarded his hat as he started shouting at the girl on the wall. Why didn't the guy just take his damned cloak back? It was an honest mist- wait...

    "You. You're him aren't you?"
he asked, as he started piecing things together over the course of Irui's little performance. Not wanting to waste the opportunity that had basically fallen into his lap, he snapped the cloak over his quarry's head and arms like a net. "I've really had about enough of your nonsense."

The peasants reacted as people do when they see two people fighting: they all backed up to form a roughly 10m-wide circle around the kid and teenager as they stopped to watch the scuffle. Not that there was much to watch. With his quick maneuvering and the raw power of his enhanced strength, Ashitaka sought to bind his opponent with his own cloaks. Once able to tie them off and release his grip on them, he raced through the hand seals for his Tree Bind Flourishing Burial technique. If he kept using it, it had to work eventually.

"I'd kill you, but I think you'd like that. No, I'm going to leave you here where you can't hurt anybody." he would say before triggering the follow-up that would normally crush the prisoner, but he willed the roots to leave enough of a gap so as not to harm him. Then he formed the Snake hand seal and placed his right hand against the part of the binding technique at Irui's back and transformed it into a massive tree that would further entomb him.

"Sit. Stay." he would say coldly as he broke his arm free of the tree, stepped back, and watched to see whatever bs move his enemy of the moment would pull in order to escape. "We- and I mean 'literally everyone here'- have much bigger problems to deal with than you. In case you weren't aware of why we're out here risking our necks to evacuate the people you're slaughtering."
