Death Comes for All Empty Death Comes for All

    Spoiler:

Akame pushed through the rough terrain, utilizing her natural coordination to maneuver the shortcut she was taking across the Land of Lightning. She was moving at a decent clip, tapping into her Nature Clan power to fuel her speed across the more barren landscape of the Land of Lightning. Rocks and mountains are all that there was, after all. The ANBU had gotten a message from the village from a bird on the way back from her recent mission, requesting that she instead take up another one while she was outside the village.

Word on a drug shipment had gotten to the village where what was believed to be one of the inner circle of the local drug ring is supposedly overseeing its shipping personally. That only happened when there was something big and valuable coming into the country, likely a good amount of contraband in the form of drugs and cash. The name of this particular kingpin was Naoki, a known practitioner of the Strong Fist. He was well regarded in the underground as one of the most capable among their number. Definitely not someone to try and kill if you were a shinobi with little experience in assassination.

Akame couldn't help but wonder if this was some sort of test for her though. Sent on a couple easy missions and then she gets this out of the blue. It was the type of assignment she had excelled at before her illness and the prospect of trying her hand at it was exciting. In fact, she could tell even now that her old abilities were beginning to return. She still couldn't run as fast as she had previously been able to, but the fluidity with which she moved her body... that had definitely improved. Perhaps it was just her knocking the rust off, but she believed it to be closer to her finally focusing in on something she knew she could do but that would be difficult. No more warm ups.

It took her only the majority of a day's run to get to a small town that was six or seven hours away from where her target destination was. It was night now though, and she hadn't slept in almost three days. If she was going to actually do this right she would need to be well rested for it rather than running on half a tank. Akame found the closest inn she could and entered, sitting at a table and ordering a meal from a waitress. Within ten minutes she had a slab of meat in front of her as well as a good helping of vegetables and a mug of ale.

The food didn't last very long, all of it being gone within five minutes of Akame sitting down. It was almost like she didn't even chew it, though she did just very quickly. The mug of ale was down after the food was finished, a satisfied sigh escaping Akame's lips as she scooted her chair back to go rent a room for the night. She did just that, ignoring everybody in the inn but keeping an eye on them with her sensory abilities. Just in case, you know? After getting to her room Akame would just crawl into bed over the covers, sword unsheathed and resting on her torso with both hands on the hilt. Sleeping in a public place was not her preferred method, but she only needed a few hours to have enough fuel to get this job done.

A few hours later Akame was up, feeling mostly refreshed as she stretched and got up from the bed. The ANBU walked downstairs and left a few more ryo on the bar as she left since it was still a couple hours before dawn and nobody was up yet. Despite the guards for the town being on full alert Akame found it easy enough to slip by them and out of the town, back on track towards her mark for this mission.
